Yes... The Central Powers who had the same mindset as Britain and France. World War 1 was the last battle of the Empires; Germany, Britain, France, Russia, Austro-Hungary and the Ottomans.

Germany was already defeated before America joined in, if anything they just sped up the process, American troops didn't actually get to fight until the last few months. The first military death for America in World War 1 was a man who died of Dyspepsia, before he even left the States.
