  • sickest frame ever dude truly you are a mini truck god! I bow to thee!

  • @1994hondacivicsi

haha thanks for the nice words, im glad you like the frame, this is my first build :)

  • @pimppalacecustoms what???? that just makes you even cooler dude!!!!!!! build me a s10 first gen frame man we can talk bout payment for sure!!!!

  • Great job, your my new hero, you've inspired me to work on my Mazda. I just watched all your build vids, back to back(great choice in music, BTW). Update! Please.

  • @houdini19831

    thanks!

  • Whats the plan were the lower control arm at 2.32 will hit the rail?

  • @Narlynarz

It will never go that high when driving, i just raised it right up to max out and thats the first thing that hits. its the downside of the oem parts i chose to use, i think next time ill do my own custom wishbones and uprights so that i can keep it independent on each corner but still have more range. i could put a bumpstop there but there isn't much point.

  • i think i just fell in love!!

  • @tillermiller1

thanks but i have a girlfriend... haha ;)

  • @pimpapplecustoms is it nearly time for an update yet? Facebook shows progress....

  • @BJWL93

haven't had time to film and edit anything lately, but will get to it soon :)

  • awesome stuff

what's gonna be done about roll on corners?

some clever electronic system that pumps more air into the outside bags?

love the ideal mix of humour and engineering keep it up

  • @TomE1248

thanks. ill probably just add sway bars to it, but will see how it goes without them first. with the bulk of the weight in the chassis and super low, it shouldn't roll much compared to most vehicles, so i may get away with not needing any. the shocks will be adjustable front and rear, so if i ever take it to a track or drive it hard, they can just be wound up

  • Get back into it? :(

  • @MrRevolutionCOD

yeah ive done a bit on it, have been working on some small things but mainly im redesigning a few parts im not happy with. once i get these bits sorted ill finish off a few other things and do another update.

  • This is honestly some of the most impressive work. The frame design and attention to technical design is awesome. I find myself constantly checking in for updates. Keep it going man, looks amazing.

  • @ARRRGHosaurusRex

    thanks! :)

  • simplesmente lindo .. Br

  • @danieltiriricaloko

    obrigado :)

  • cant believe this didnt win best engineered at the 4&rota nats mond my spelling lol

  • @ballsshowing

thanks. best engineering went to Fraser's NSX, which is a fantastically built race car with a tonne of quality engineering in it. maybe next year... :)

  • when is the next video? cant wait!

  • @TheBikerboy3

thanks, glad you like them. im not sure at the moment when the next will be, im still recovering from prepping for the show in january. probably at least a fortnight or so though

  • That is some epic fab work right there, looks schmick, p.s wats the song name

  • @ON24ZZ

thanks! its looking a bit better now, check out the facebook page... :)

the song is 'sierra leone' by Mt Eden Dubstep

  • Fuck yes...

I've been meaning to do something like this for a while - initial idea was a VW Caddy with EJ25, but you've made me realise that using something that originally had a ladder frame is the smarter option.

Can't wait to see more updates!

  • @TheJK9000

thanks! monocoque vehicles can be done pretty well too, often easier as well, as you've just got to add a subframe for the rear suspension and engine. depends if you want to drop it out and change up the front suspension etc too. i was going to use a boxer engine to suit the gearbox, which would've saved some time and money, but a wrx turbo engine. they sound so nice!

  • this whole build is something that should be followed by a magazine, people would love to see this build come together. You have skills man. I really enjoy all your videos and following the build. keep it up, great work!

  • @shadow2zero4

thanks for the kind words. its been featured 'under construction' in the two main (and only... haha) performance car magazines in nz, but mainly the best place to follow it is on the facebook page ("pimppalacecustoms") as thats where the most content (pics etc) are.

    nick

  • How much would you charge for a build like this ?

  • @smokesomeweed831

this is not the sort of build you'd want to pay for... haha. ive averaged around 2-4 hours a day, almost every day for the past year on it (~20 hours/week x 50 weeks = 1000 hours), plus maybe about nz$15k on parts and the original truck. this excludes research and design time. the engine polishing i did in previous years, so this is excluding that too. if you'd like some work done, email me your contact details and we could discuss things further. pimppalacecustoms@gmail.com

  • will u be using them wheels

  • @rclover28

yes. they're a bit rusty but they function all good.

  • cant wait to see this at the nats in a couple of days bro

  • the first air up is such a great feeling no matter how many projects you build. Glad to see it moving around!

  • @BSGcustoms

thanks and yeah it felt great airing it up for the first time, its taken so long to get there, im so stoked to pass that milestone

  • Are you planning to run a bed( I can't remember what you guys call them sorry)? You have inspired me to try and learn to weld.

  • @christianmanteo

im thinking about just putting the outsides of the original wooden tray back on (or fabricating new ones), but probably won't have a tray floor. just for looks and will probably need it to make it legal, so people don't 'fall in' to the rear section and hurt themselves haha. good choice learning to weld, its so useful and isn't too hard once you get the hang of it

  • Way cool brother just one question the lower arms on the back look quite close to the rails at full extension are you running bump stops? sorry to be critical its just something i wondered. Awesome job mate cant wait to see it up down turnaround town!

  • @pixicato69

yeah good spotting, a few people have raised that too. in the video i went much higher than i will during driving (about twice ride height) and it does max out when the arm hits the chassis. as it will never be driven up there i don't think ill need to add bumpstops, but ill see what the certifier says when that times comes. cheers. nick

  • @pimppalacecustoms shot bro your doing a bang up job of it :)

  • @pixicato69

    thanks :)

  • can't wait to see it all put together and running good works guys

  • @tropdawg

thanks! its just me building it though ;)

    nick

  • Man, watched all your build tonight, cant wait to keep following it along, please dont take another year! haha!

  • @Baxtification

thanks! yeah i hope it doesnt take another year, it was only meant to take a month... haha

  • your amazingly talented, I hope I can do all this at the end of my TAFE course

  • @Exaplex

thanks! yeah there's no reason anyone couldn't do this. a year ago i couldn't weld and couldn't edit videos, i just had a passion for cars and some theory learnt at uni and reading too many car magazines growing up haha

  • @pimppalacecustoms ill have to start reading a lot of magazines haha

  • dude watching that thing bounce and sway around gave me goosebumps! It's been a long year hasn't it, hopefully you'll have it done by this time next year yeah! Keep up the updates and the good work!

  • @mrmaxstorey

yeah hopefully ill get it finished if i can stop doing extra stuff to it that i didnt plan to, but i guess thats projects?! there's always something else that can be done...

  • Jeebus midmount bloke! Your clip has sent me on a dub-step frenzy.

Go have a squizz at 'Machine Gun 16Bit remix'..chur bro.

  • @VolV8

thanks, yeah love the dubstep. nice track. cheers! :)

  • nice work keep posting i seen this at a show telstraclear?

  • @jaredwilson1989

not sure what that show is sorry, but its been at last years nats and the jamboree. next show is the nats, can't wait for it!

  • Looks good, I have concerns with rear suspension travel and front suspension needs swaybar. Like I said your changing the game over there.

  • @FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1

yeah there isn't much compared to most minitrucks as far as travel goes in the back, but this is a tradeoff of the suspension parts i had available and the chassis design. there's more than enough for what ill be using it for though, so it doesnt bother me. for the front, i may still add a sway bar, but that can be done after ive finished the steering and radiator etc. my priority at the moment is getting it semi-complete for a show this month, then to get it running.

  • sick bro, love the progress, keep that shit uup!

  • @themantiss

    cheers bro!

  • you've certainly come a long way nick, im proud mate. Cant wait to see more. Hope 2012 treats you and the truck well

  • @callanbull

thanks! its slowly getting there, hopefully get it going and road legal this year :)

  • Thanks buddy, keep up the good work

  • Great video, love the work on your truck. What song is that used for the video?

  • @35getshorty

thanks. "sierra leone" by Mt Eden Dubstep

  • Great to see another update! What's next? :)

  • @samkangus

thanks! ive got to re-make the extractors because i changed the rear canti designs/position and now they don't fit in haha. then there's the steering to finish, make the radiator system, firewall and front tubs, throttle pedal etc etc. soooo much to still do, but its getting there :)

  • tabacco-tastic!

  • @gazzy2000

haha i have no idea what that means, but thanks! :)

  • @pimppalacecustoms lol, like when you smoke a ciggy and its good i.e. fantastic. Alan partridge used to say it.. so to put it in clearer context you might say that that comment was quote-tastic, ya with me now? lol huurrr

  • Awesome engineering on this one, but how do the rear d-shafts fit in that linkage system? Will you notch the arms so the shafts can fit past?

  • @trls250s

thanks. the gearbox outputs are quite low (particularly when aired out) so the drive axles angle down quite a bit and therefore just fit under the cantilever pickups. its tight for all the parts, but when i get some made, they'll fit in there.

  • Fuck yes

    looks like a fucking alien

    so cool

  • @westendrotangs

    haha thanks! :)

  • Awesome video man, soo stoked with the progress. Bring on nats aye haha. Cheers, Dwayne.

  • @GoodOldKiwiBoy

thanks. yeah can't wait for the nats, its going to be awesome!

    nick

  • i like that you actually respond to people. this is easily one of the best "at home" build threads (you know...video thing) on the interwebz at the moment.

    much props to you!

  • @SuperTylerk

thanks! im just stoked people are enjoying the build and videos. the feedback keeps me motivated keep working on it, so its great for me too.

    nick

  • so sweet man... haha good to see you actually making progress on this one!! :-P

  • @jmulcahy2

haha cheers bro! still got a way to go though... ;)

  • BOneR inducing

  • great work, i'm impressed. and it takes a bit to impress me these days. ;-)

  • @torino390

    thanks

  • Nice work man, just remind me not to follow you if you wanna stop in a hurry, that pointy rear end would be a killer!!

Great to see the updates, have a good new year mate,

    Robbie.

  • @RIPSNZ

haha yeah the anti-tailgater chassis design should come in handy on the roads, i just hope i don't ever spin out in this thing, as that'd get real scary really quick for anyone in the way lol. cheers and happy new year to you too.

    nick

  • its so sick! i love it.

  • @nzmatt123

    thanks :)

  • Should have had those bikini chicks jumping up and down on the frame too :)

  • @TheSKDKNG

i need you on my video planning committee! haha i should have thought of that :(

  • The wife beater impresses me the most!!Dam cool truck, id be getting the cert guy to come have a look at it while its still in bare metal form tho, it will pay off in the long run (personal lesson learnt)

  • @TheSKDKNG

yeah i need to get round to doing that haha. i might get him along once i finish a few more bits on the chassis and suspension, as there is still stuff to get done. im fairly confident everything will be sweet though, and all the parts im slightly unsure of i have designed to be bolt in, so that i could potentially unbolt them and either modify them to be legal, or replace them altogether (ie the rear suspension subframe, with all its spikiness... haha). fingers crossed!

  • Can expect to see it finished at manfeild's, 4 and rota show in march then?? Great work keep it up!!

  • @SidewayzFx

yea it'll probably be there. im also dragging it up to auckland for the nats too. january is going to be busy! haha

  • @pimppalacecustoms Looking forwards to seeing it there!

  • @4andRotaryOfficial

thanks! ive got quite a few parts that will come down to the wire to get done, but if things work out as planned, i have a fairly hefty surprise in store for people coming to the nats. it should hopefully drop some jaws... haha :)

  • Every update gets me stoked. You rock, this truck rocks. A fuckin' plus mate.

  • @phatkix

    cheers mate!

  • awesome build mate keep up the good work

  • @dreaded12345

    thanks

  • @Moserloker : Mt eden - sierra leone

    sick build!

  • @T1X1

    thanks!

  • Amazing truck. Keep up the good work dude!

  • @BJWL93

    thanks!

  • nice build, what song is being played

  • is it gonna have enough lift in the front to untuck to turn¿

  • @pmillerinc

yeah it should do. in the video when it is aired up with the body on, the body sits a bit lower than it will because there are no body mounting rubbers yet. these will space it up a bit and give the wheel more room to turn. should be ok for clearance. hopefully... haha

  • congrats mate! the suspension looks like it works better than normal cars lol!

  • @minisown

    thanks!

  • u didnt talk nick!? sick build, been following since the 1st video post on dut, keep it up ya made goat!

  • @krankywagon

    cheers mate!

  • this is fucking mint buts its going to scrape like a mother fucker hahah

  • @itaigum

    hopefully! haha :)

tbh, it is very low at ride height but has to be this way with the limited travel suspension and me wanting it to lay out at maximum low. im thinking about a full length bash plate incase i have to drag it over anything. or just for dragging it in general ;)

  • Jesus christ this thing rules my balls clean off. Keep it up man.

  • been a long time coming. good to see some progress.

  • Next time I am New Zealand I don't want to sit at the airport. I want to come film this truck. Hopefully fully running so we can feature it.

  • @GrinderTV

that would be awesome! im making these vids at home on a point and shoot and iMovie, so would love to see how the pro's do it. also i would be stoked to be in your videos once its going

  • @pimppalacecustoms We are no pros...we use Iphones. Not even the new ones, just some old 3gs's haha. I will be coming back next year hopefully.

  • @GrinderTV

haha awesome. all in the editing then eh?! :)

let me know when you're coming over

  • Fuckin mint shit right there

  • @sandymanman92

    thanks!

  • Fuckin mint
