Did you know, The original story of The Little Mermaid by Hans christain Andersen is actually VERY sad? There is no singing crabs & fishie friends. & the sea witch isnt evil. But cuts the mermaids tounge off to mute her. When recieving her legs, every step she takes feel like walking on broken glass. Also in the very end her prince marry's in an arranged marriage. Then she dies & becomes a earth bound spirit, & he never finds out she was a mermaid. Sorry if I ruined the Disney Version for ya :/

i feel like they should have either had her in a fish suit suspended, or for scenes like this, had her in a mermaid dress. the whole, standing/swimming look is REALLY awful. really disappointed, ariel is like a childhood icon for me.

@d3vlynn92 yeah the look of it would of been abit better but i think they would of had problems suspending her in most scenes with other people also having similar costumes and such would of got caught on each other or even breaking during the program or just even limiting the actress - think thats the only reason shes got it that way and having her on wheelies is a similar effect to swimming then it is for her to be walking across the stage.

I noticed they were using Heelys too! Which makes this more awesome, since I can't skate. It's kind of weird seeing something from your childhood changed, but I mean, if you love and respect all types of art and music, this is a beautiful version of the film.

As someone who worked in a pet shop with many aquariums, I think I'm qualified to say that Ariel's "extra tail" looks like some sort of runaway fish turd! I saw the "Beauty and the Beast" Broadway show and it was great. The costumes and stage decor for this, however, pale in comparison. :(

Back in 1994, we saw the premiere of "The Lion King" at Radio City Music Hall. Right before the movie started, they had a stage show, featuring highlights from Disney's other classics, including "The Little Mermaid." While Ariel was longing to be "Part of That World," she was actually "swimming" in the air (wires were hanging on to her) with the ocean in the background. That's why I was disappointed with this Broadway version. :( :(

1. I don't think they should have gone for such a literal visual interpretation. Just because Lion King and Cats got away with doesn't mean this show. Yes, the costumes are amazing pieces of art, the vision did not translate well.

2. I'm not sure if this is an accurate portrayal of this show, but it could use more set pieces.

No one is denying these people are talented and this took a lot of work, but I'm just sad that this movie didn't transition well to the stage.
