Milady, my fair lady. WOW I have not heard a version of this song like this... I am in awe.. you have an awesome voice. I am currently suffering from severe stress, and I can honestly feel how this makes me more calm. I salute you
Celtic Style? um... no. I don't mean to imply that you are a bad singer, but this is far removed from celtic music. In fact, it has nothing more in common with the original song and sounds more like a modern "charts-version" than an old celtic piece. like i already mentioned this doesn't mean it is a poor interpretation, but the description is kind of confusing...

@KingKook this is a traditional folk ballad, the author is unknown, and it´s everyone´s property. there are dozens of versions, and probably many are lost. we don´t know which was the "original" version.

@harpiyon Fair enough. I was being a Troll when I wrote that other comment, so now that I listen to her again, I get what you're saying about the folk thing. BUT, S&G still plays in my mind whenever anyone attempts this tune. Yeah, I know, that's my problem, Ever hear someone do a funk/jazz/polka/Gregorian Chant/flamenco/opera/rap version of this song? Me neither.
Wow! You really have a beautiful voice, and i love your guitar work. This is one of the best covers of this song I've ever heard! Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
wow simply amazing! when a song played or sang makes my eyes water, it has hit my soul. Sheila your singing and playing did just that! I admire your talent. Simply amazing!
I really like the arrangement. Hard to imagine people dislike it enough to vote that way. Clearly sour people with nothing better to do than pee in others' cornflakes.
Beautiful guitar playing, and I like it very much.
However this is not Celtic. It is R&B or soul. True Celtic voices are not inclined to grandiose key changes and slides. The sound ought to be a little clearer, and the voice less in the chest and sultry, and more bright and open. To call this a Celtic style of singing...please don't. This is a really sweet version, nice work. You inspired me looked-up the song on Wikipedia, it's a very old song and has been through a lot of lyrical changes over time, I found it fascinating to read about. Thanks for sharing your talent here on YouTube!
WOW!! I've never heard this version/arrangement of one of my top English folk songs! I was mesmerised, Sheila!!! Guess you've seen/heard Sarah Brightman and Celtic Woman's version, etc. I think your voice is very pure. Good to hear without the 'Canticle' of S&G.
Do you have this on iTunes? I am absolutely in love with your rendition! Ive been feeling very "traditionallish" lately and have been reexploring all of my old favorites, such as Scarborough Fair, Toss the Feathers and Lough Erin Shore. I play guitar and tin whistle, and have to say your version of this song was the most beautiful I have heard.
Wow, you are great what a lovely rendition. I have also watched your tutorial. I am 53 yr old guy who has started learning to play the guitar only for the past 3 yrs or so and I am enjoying it. I am going to learn this song and record my effort and upload in my channel (I already play the SG version a lill bit!!) and your voice and the way you play both are bewitching, good luck... ramgulwady, mumbai, india
Well... I like your tone, and your guitar playing is awesome, but it seems a little too... popish? I can't really put word to it, but it's a tad too upbeat for me to hear it in the same light that I do Scarborough Fair. I'm pretty sure it's mostly the tempo, though, because your sound is amazing.
Did i see Beyonce shining your shoes honey? oh i must be mistaken she's not fit to!
No, I APPRECIATE listening to someone with TALENT for once, and with that my faith in music is restored! Fed up listening to Simon Cowell clones, you are the real deal!
Hey. I actually found your video whilst looking to see if Roman (from Gypsy Soul) had posted a video of him playing True Love. I learnt to play it years ago and was just looking to see how he played it (because I worked it out by ear from the cd). So anyway, very nice to hear your version - it's very hard to sing it without being compared to Cillette but actually, you're really great. So well done! :-) Lee
the celtic people, or "celts" (pronounced Keltic, not Seltic) were some of the first settlements in europe and are still found in England, Ireland, and Scotland. They were kinda like druids, and worshiped nature and stuff.
I wasn't inquiring what or who were the celts, but how can this song be described to be "in the celtic style" 75-80% of the inhabitants of Ireland and the British Isles
originate from hunter gatherers who crossed the landbridge from mainland Europe just after the last ice-age that's a good 10,000 years before celts had left Asia.
Cillette truly has a bewitching voice, but her voice is no better or worse than yours. You also have a very sassy nuance in your voice that's very appealing.
What makes singing good: 1) stay on key, in control 2) feel deeply 3) don't hold it in or be afraid.
Record and study your own voice, identify good inflections and cultivate them. Study your favorite singers and imitate. Above all, spend time singing and working on it. No one ever did this and failed to improve!
i went looking for this song because i read a book, Impossible, based off it. I can't remember the author's name, but it began with a "W" if NE1 wants 2 try and find it. great voice! love the video!
That was seriously bone chilling. That's awesome that you like Gypsy Soul. I was beginning to think no one knew about them. I remember when I lived in California, they used to play at South Coast Plaza, the local mall. My parents were talking with them and were going to have them play at the business my dad was working at, but it never quite worked out. We do have a couple signed albums of theirs, which is pretty cool.
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. That's really cool that you know who Gypsy Soul is. I don't know too many people who know who they are, especially in Florida.
So... Freking.. Good...

@KingKook no problem mate, you just said your opinion and that´s totally ok.
the S & G version might be the most well-known one, but i think it´s not the best one (but neither the worst).
i´ve been doing some research on this ballad recently & listened to many versions.
jazz: Kenny Ball, Jean-Michel Pilc Trio, London Jazz Four
opera: Ewa Malas-Godlewska
gregorian: the Gregorians :)
instrumental: dozens
etc.
just insert "scarborough fair" & a music style here on YouTube & see what happens :)

Very beautiful voice and guitar, but a little over-sung, in an almost gospel/Whitney Houston way and please love - it's not
SCAR-BO-ROW it's SCAR-BU-RER, sorry for being picky but it grates on the nerves of true yorkshiremen!!!
Still you are 10 times better than i am -so -wait for it- - - APPN AS NOT THAS REET LASS.
There, the true salutations of a yorkshiremen.
lots of love

Cillette truly has a bewitching voice, but her voice is no better or worse than yours. You also have a very sassy nuance in your voice that's very appealing.
What makes singing good: 1) stay on key, in control 2) feel deeply 3) don't hold it in or be afraid.
Record and study your own voice, identify good inflections and cultivate them. Study your favorite singers and imitate. Above all, spend time singing and working on it. No one ever did this and failed to improve!

That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing that. I do not believe I have heard that variation before, but your voice did it justice. Well done.
