@livewithith75 All of the platforms are designed for 9 car sets, but to save energy, they only use 6 car sets on weekends and outside of rush hour. They open the gates and add an extra 3 cars to the train during busy times.
The STM was renovating their MR73 cars and needed more trains on the Orange Line, so they put MR63's mixed in with the MR73's, which slowed down the line since there are more hills on the Orange Line and the MR73's can climb them better. So the next idea was to put MR63's on the Yellow line, so that they can add extra MR73's on the Orange Line, so now they're using the same type of trains on the same lines. Problem though, the MR63's shocks are finished and have to drive slower than normal.
@bmw803 The entire body of the train (bogie) would need to be overhauled, including replacing the giant springs, and the STM doesn't want to invest anymore money into these trains, especially if they want to replace them within the next 5 years.
why the hell they install benchs on the side of the platform u get off on it here at cote vertu snowdom its not like its getting extendend any time soon
I assume to make it parallel with the other side. They even had a transfer machine at Longueuil terminus where you get off and there was no chance of it ever being used. They have had plans for years though to expand the yellow line to McGill, so perhaps this could have been used for that. Or it was meant for people to wait for someone on the next train. Also note that those benches can't be used anymore anyhow, since the trains are 6 cars now and there's a gate to block people, same as Line5.
for the blue line they should extend it west to the west island that would make more people ride that line. hell they should give it a stop at the aeroport or at fairview that make life easy
@MysticMTL Hmmm...but why would they extend the yellow line to McGill?? All one has to do is ride 2 stops to Berri-UQAM and get on the Angirgnon to get to McGill... or did you mean they want to extend it so there could be stations bBETWEEN Longueuil and McGill?? And what do you mean by line 5? I thought there were only 4 lines so far?
@ammarios The STM has evaluated that most people who ride on Line 4 (Yellow) to McGill on Line 1 (Green), since it's right in the middle of downtown Montreal, where quite a few Longueuil residents work. There is a severe over crowding at Berri-UQAM, and this would help out enormously.
Line 5 is the Blue Line which goes from Snowdon to St-Michel. There are only 4 metro lines at the moment, but Line 3 was never used for metro, and they use the tunnel now for commuter trains.
@MrZackattack2010 Further to what MysticMTL said, each terminus was designed with expansion in mind. Also, it allows single track working if needed (if Iremember correctly, there's a switch at each end of Berri). Also, Longueuil not only had a transfer machine, but it also had a full ticket booth as well! Again, they had expansion in mind and now they are getting around to it. (Just don't hold your breath)
Now it is. But for the last 20 years or so, it was never on this line, only the MR-73's. Since there are so many extra MR-63's and there to keep frequent intervals on the Orange Line, they put the extra MR-63's on the yellow line and the MR-73's on the Orange Line.
Thanks! I'm working with my new camera and trying out different effects. I'll upload another 3 or 4 videos in the next few hours with more of my new sightings and adventures.
If I may ask why is a quarter of the platform blocked off at Berri-UQAM JD and University of Sherbrooke?

Lots of people want the metro extended by that much. Let's hope it's done in our lifetime!
