People in Japan speak english very well. If you ever get to go to Japan, you can get around by speaking English. Japan is a very disciplined city. I have never seen so many people behave in such and orderly manner...everyone is very polite. They take pride in everything they do.

I live in Japan and I beg to differ... most Japanese that I know have very minimal English ability. Obviously there are some proficient speakers there, but in general if you want to have a real conversation you had better learn Japanese.

Well, from what I've seen that can't be true. The exchange students we get can hardly get around with their English. And considering those are of the best education, and those daring to venture abroad with their command of English... I mean, most of us Dutch tend to have a very bad accent, but at least we can make ourselves understandable in English, from universities to the lower classes. The Japanese I met, not so. Not to mention all of them tended to not have the ability to take initiative.
