  • My server has a connection of 75 up and 150 down. Yes having my ISP run fiber just to my business and into a spceial modem that is direct fiber in the modem and not coaxial cable. Works very well.

  • This is a great video... A lil' short, but a great example of how everyone around the world is becoming digital pioneers. I'm in the process of starting an ISP myself, and I found this to be quite inspiring... And, who doesn't use Linux for ISPs now a days? ;-)

  • @HiDroBuddy420 Good luck with your ISP, I started a BBS many years ago and that was my way into this work.

  • iandhoward, Keep up the video uploads. Good stuff.

  • @pcfix411 Thanks, I haven't kept it up lately but I will try harder!

  • fantastic!

  • he does use a router - the linux server does proxy and other network services, including a local email MTA.

  • is there any way to contact him ? Mr.Joseph ? I would really like to ask a few questions myself, as i too need to setup and start with a small ISP in my area, as the charges for the normal big isps are quite high.

  • it would have been eseyr to use a router insted of a linux server so your provider sees one but you can have hundreds if you wanted

  • Why wouldn't you use linux! I only use linux.

  • in fact we do. Joseph's servers are all linux and I only use linux myself.

  • It's like a giant VPN pretty nice.

  • I must say what you've been doing it highly commendable. Providing internet for everybody at the lowest possible cost. Salute!

  • Joseph is an amazing guy, with very modest resources he has done some amazing stuff -- I just interviewed him. He did win an Ashoka fellowship for his work, which too is modest, but a great way to recognize his work.

  • funny as video :)

how do u convert that one IP? use Linux !! hahaha

  • the gateway on his Ku band vsat does NAT for him -- it runs linux.
