the title is for marketing purposes. It's simple; fastest FFR car, but not world's fastest car. "WORLD RECORDD" ooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. See? That's marketing.
SCTA land speed racing has classes that hold records from just over 100mph to well over 300mph. For a blown fuel class, 216 is not very impressive at all. Last year a stock-bodied Ferrari ran 276 on blown gas, but he was running a huge displacement GM iron big block (with a boat V-drive sticking out the back of the car). There are roughly 600 different classes that hold records at Bonneville, including this guy.
ok ok, why say "World Land Speed Record", when its really the land speed record for FFR Cobra Coupes? 216mph is nothing, im actually disappointed... i'd be impressed if it wasnt slower than at least 15 production cars I can name off the top of my head...
@impreziv This car has the World Record in Class C blown fuel modified. Setting land speed records is not the same as the advertised top speed of a production car - you can't compare the two.
Funny, it's not mentioned on the FIA web site. And some additional searching reveals that the current record for wheeled cars is more like 300mph... 216 is fast for sure, but not a world record, unless you start narrowing the category substantially.
@fsparv the record is for Class C Blown Fuel Modified Sports(C/BMS). See the Southern California Timing Association site, look for "Blown Fuel Modified Sports - /BFMS" under class C, Category D.
Beautiful car and fast...perfect
