I think it was pointed out once that it had the regulation # of lifeboats for a ship its size, but life boats were intended to transfer to another ship, not row all the way to land. I wonder if there would have been more survivers if they stayed close to the iceburg they collided w/ so they could have a place to go & have a fighting chance of staying dry rather than continuing out into open water.

Yes it was the Britannic. She was lost back in 1916 from either a torpedo or a mine. She currently lays in about a couple of hundred feet of water on her side. People can dive to the wreck and swim around. She was the last one built of the Olympic class ships and had the modifications that were required after the Titanic had sank.

You know..I think that they should make a total copy of the Titanic, the stair, the lugars, restaurantes, the meny.....everything. Just abit more lifeboats. And abit safer. Where people can travel on first, second or third class. Just the same trip too. Titanic is a very well-known story, its a part of our history. They should at least have a kind of memory thing in 2012, 15 april. A hundred years after the Titanic sank. It would be a very good tourist-trap;)

i know this will sound stupid but how did the clothing like boots and glasses get around there so close to the ship ? could it have been from some people inside or from the bodies floating at the top of the ocean ? i just don't understand because wouldn't the bodies drift a bit instead of going straight down to where the ship is at ?

I think it has something do that the bodies that some bodies got sucked down by the ship. And when the ship sank most of the "buildings" topside of the ship got ripped off. Therefore it is things at the ocean floor.

the debris field for titanic is a few miles around. also, as sad as it may seem, the boots and other personal belongings are from the people who drowned and whos bodies had already deteriorated.
