  • what program are you running to get the sounds?

  • I use soundfonts with mellotronsounds. Some soundfonts I've made myself some I've found at different places at internet during the last 10 years. I then use Cubase ver5 VST32 as a sequenserprogram in my laptop.

  • Rick Wakeman and his amazing onstage keyboard arrangements :)

  • Sorry, I can´t help laughing! That was fun!

    Thanks! :-)

  • You're welcome!

Any 10-year old struggling in pianolessons should go and see some prog-band videos from 70's with the armada of keyboards :)

  • I fully agree.

What I do (to get ready to play) on this video is nothing compared to switching tapes on a mellotron. You just don't do it on stage. Bring two mellotrons.

  • I really don't get it,whats the point?

  • If you mean: "Whats the point in using mellotornsounds" Some people, love the sound.

If you mean: "Whats the point in making this thing to play mellotronsounds" - A real one is expensive to buy, if you find one.

A real mellotron has only three sounds. My little package gives reliability, has several mellotronsounds and it is easy to switch between the different sounds and last but not least, it was not expensive to build.

I also like to see the little babytron in my studio. I find it neat!

  • Oh okay,so it's just kinda nostalgic,A neat little conversation piece, the cabinet does look very good from what I can see,I misunderstood,I thought that this was meant to replace a real tape machine,I have had several trons and other obscure samplers from the 60's-70's,nothing really sounds like them,I use the computer as my sampler now to tho,it's much more time saving because it's somthing I don't use all the time.

  • First of all, I love the sound from a mellotron. Nothing can compare. Secondly I cannot afford one. Thirdly, now I can make music with the sound from a mellotron. I'm happy with that.

To me my MM400 has the look, but to someone who has had the real thing, it's either a big fake or, perhaps, a cute little creature, like a baby(-tron) :-)

  • Love your creation. Good work my man. You should sell plans, etc for it for all of us who love the tron but can't afford the real thing.

  • Thanks for the light!!!

it´s´a great delight to see this magic mellotron!!!

can you tell me what I need to build this beauty machine?

    Do you have building instructions?

Please help me to build a Magitron!!!

I have the MTRON tapes, it will work?

  • the cool part is that it has the smaller microkorg-style keyboard so my little fingers can play it....!

How about a Mellotron MkII with the typical one eighth-inch shellac finish and the matching dwarf-three-arse bench?

I'd like to see the mini-magiOptigan (little floppy disc slot in the front with respect to keeping the unit purposefully lo-fi)

  • what an awesome recreation. well done!

  • Possibilities are unlimited for anyone who tries to create sometning never seen before, may it be a baby-Hammond organ or a baby-MKII.

  • Ha ha awsome. Would love to see a mini Hammond organ.

  • You are not the only one. I've heard this wish from many people. I have no intention to build a mini-Hammond though, but admit it would look cute, together with this little treasure on stage.

  • Have to admit it looks better on this vid. than in reality... :P

  • Loving the `Mini-Magitron`...a lovely homage to the wonderful mellotron. Looks like the player is of a gigantic stature when sitting and playing the magitron.
