My decades of experience with gov employees and officials is that if you can embezzle the shit out of taxpayers, drink like a fish, peddle a little kiddie porn, in some cases push illegal drugs, you've got yourself a long career and a fat pension. That includes K12.

Until you get rid of taxes completely this will happen. By law, when they sell the house they have to give them back whatever is NOT owed. They cannot steal a house for $5,000 and then keep the proceeds. We are all having this happen to us...if we can't pay, even if we have no mortgage. If a person is over 62, they can do a 'reverse mortgage' and then when the house is sold later, they won't owe anything.

"steel some homes"??? "Kicked out of their homes" There is a misunderstanding here, if the govt can charge you rent (property taxes) then it isn't "your" home. It belongs to the govt and always did. And they call this freedom?

Under feudal law it was called quit-rent.

Basically the master owns the land and allows us to live on it as long as we pay the quit-rent.

Like share-cropping but in town.

Of course we are no longer surfs for a lord so we call the same payment "property tax" and feel much better about our selves.

Yes, just what we need - more homeless people in these very troubling economic times. Hey, that'll help things out. This extortion of private property has got to stop. It seems like every piece of property that anyone obtains, there's some gov't goon lurking in the background that feels the need to hold you hostage by utilizing some "law" or laws that states you've got to pay the ransom in order to keep it. This is freedom? This is private property "ownership"? It sounds more like rent to me.
