Yes Marvin was a friend of mine and Perry was his main man. Perry stayed away from the music biz after the 50's and became a postman. Of course Marvin sang with the great Jesse Belvin.
On "Cherry Pie" and 'Tick Tock", Marvin Phillips combined with "Johnny" Perry. On othe M&J cuts, he used other "Johnnies", but he always said Perry was his main "Johnnie"
They were one of my very favorite R&B groups. I was one of the 1st white kids to listen to this stuff...used to drive my parents crazy, but I loved the music!!
