Much too fast. He has missed the point. There is no feeling of rhythm, therefore it does not sound at all like Haydn. What is more there is more than a dash of Chinese style stuck on top. No thank you.
I don't get some of these comments. THe movement is marked Presto, so it is supposed to be fast. He gets it just right. Fast, but not Prestissimo like some people play it. And as for tempo, there are a few subtle ritardandos during the piece, but if you put a metronome on it you'll find that he finishes at exactly the same rte that he starts.
I think it is a superb performance, not just this movement, but the whole sonata.
I have been playing the piece too, and I know of the ending. Yet there is a difference between a proper ending despite its humour and an ending that fails to impress.
For instance, Hamelin plays everything staccato because that's easiest. This kid does it right. Haydn's articulation is very sophisticated. The competition is irrelevant: tempo's inconsistent and I'm sure he'd agree. He's a good musician.
Nice playing! You should do it again, this time maintaining your tempo throughout. Just my opinion...You start much faster than you end. However, I love the sound of your "bravura flourishes" and your articulation is great (the hardest part to memorize). You've learned this piece well and many pianists would kill for fingers like that--keep up the good work!

I think sometimes he rushes towards or a little bit aggresive partly .
tempo is no problem though .

do you know what a "metronome" is? google it if you dont,..... i think he gets the tempo right, it is presto (around 165bpm)

Oh yes, and the ending doesn't seem finished somehow. Or maybe it's just me.

it's a typical Haydn joke ending :-)

Do you know of any recording, where this ending works better?

Of course. But not on Youtube. =)

Good performance! I seem to like your faster movements and technical flashes better!
You may want to try to prepare us a bit for the accents so that we wont get blown away by the suddenness.
But otherwise, your technical patterns have no fault!

This piece is cool, because it seems to be very hard, although it is not so hard. But to play it so well is not easy too. Great!!!
