  • Yeahhhh!! que Engazeee...

  • That first solo was far beyond the second!

  • lol trujillo is the man!

  • kirk just do what you say. xD

  • wish they kept the solo like it is at 2:00

  • @19Metallica86 what i am saying is that it is a band. it's all about the blend not the individuals. If u want to see lombardo or jordison with metallica just search jordison + metallica or lombardo + metallica u ll find live stuff from common tours...

  • how i love james voice XD lucky man... metallica 4ever

  • 'The slave becomes the master (of puppets).'

  • 6:21 dow ow -Ow-ow ow xD

  • This song's intro riff is my favorite riff on the whole album.

  • 01:03 Tom araya with a guitar? XD

  • Watch - Restart - Recomeçar

  • Lars needs to keep his fucking nose out of the guitar solos YOUR THE FUCKING DRUMMER FOR GODSSAKE!!!!!

  • @josephe101 you obviously know jack shit about lars, metallica, or music in general so let me enlighten you. lars was the founder of metallica and the primary song writer, just because he is the drummer doesn't mean he is clueless about guitars. everything he is saying is for the better of their sound. they are a team and work together to make their work the best sound possible. Now go fuck yourself.

  • @SpartanMartan973 well if its the best sound possible then answer me this why (apart from unforgiven 3) do all the solos on this album seem to have no relevance to the chords going on behind them. I'll tell you why because Lars tells Kirk to improvise them so they sound all "raw" and they end up sounding terrible. And since I've been listening to metallica for 5 years and playing guitar for 3 I think I know a bit more than you give me credit for.

  • @josephe101 fuck off dude

  • @GETTOPOJKE Chris Adler from the new school and Dave lombardo from the old one...

  • Lol the chorus is the same as the intro Wasting my Hate

  • @Pat6578

Ya and the verses are Creeping Death..

  • is it just me or does kirk solo structure at 6:45 sound mutch better then the solo on the album the album solo sounds dry and kinda boring. However that section sounds amazing and progressive.

  • Pinche panza chelera que tiene trujillo xD que no mame...

  • Lars is at least ONE of the world's greatest drummers.

  • I wish Kirk would let ESP put the Mummy guitar on their signature series line

  • @PapaRoachGeezer I said his is not the best drummer in the world (look at guys like adler, jordison etc) but he is a great aranger..that for sure..no negative comments dude . I love metallica.

  • Lars is jerking at 1:45 till 1:50

  • @bassmasstaa Haha i thaught the exact same thing

  • 5:45 sounds fucking brutal with the bass

  • 2:06 - 2:17 epic win

  • @Lazzle22 I wish they kept that lol

  • LUDI LARS.... O0:04 00:10 hahahhaha FUCKING GOOD. METALLICA IS THE BEST

  • I like the solo in this version better :D

  • lars certainly knows what sound and progessions he wants in his music, i have alot of respect for him.

  • Whats the Hot chick in the back ground doing? Shes always writing on a pad of paper? This is one of my favorite Metallica songs!!

  • I want their amps!

  • @leveniseendroom I want their skills!

  • My fav from top to bottom.... The Day that never comes Unforgiven 3 All nightmare long Suicide and redemption Judas kiss Cyanide My Apocalypse The end of the line Broken beat and scarred That was just your life.
  • See Lars' bald spot at 2:10. Wow, they're getting old. Still awesome though

  • kirks solo in this version sounds way cooler than the one on the album (at 2:05)

  • who is the guy iwith them the whole time? the engineer?

  • from 6:03 lars acts like a spastic:')

  • the worst song from this album

  • @MetalUpYourAssFuck Na, no the worst probably that was just your life is my least fav.

  • anyone else notice james writes all the songs by himself?

  • @aileanwazere Him and Lars do most of the work...they are truly great musicians

  • Lars knows guitar chords lol

  • @PGuitar97

everyone in a band has to know how to play eachothers instruments thats how they make it easier to teach eachother things.

  • so much work :D

but this song is just amazing! great dudes :D

  • i think rob needs to bu more basses

  • @jorgefg666

    he has alot of basses...

  • i think metallica has like 150 basses.

  • It doesn't matter how many basses he has. He plays what he's comfortable and sounds best with.

Rob's a badass. So is his fire-decal bass.

  • i like how rob only uses that bleu flame bass most of the time.

  • well lars is the creator of metallica without him no metallica no awesomeness

  • Re-recordings of Creeping Death!

  • 0:38 Da-da-da-da-da-da..

  • Agreed!!

  • Lars appears to be like a better director than drummer lol he should produce records of up and coming talent

  • wow the listen to the inside the minds of metallica is like listen to a brain surgen in operation.

  • Heaviest opening to a song on the entire album

  • I feel ya, "TEOTL" is definitely one of the album's best. The album is, of course, brilliant.

  • Yeah this song and The Unforgiven III

  • @themothkeeper

I'd say It's a badass song with some kickass riffs. But the solo is a freaking joke.

  • tallica fans please invite me

  • this is my favorite song on death magnetic

  • @MasterofMetallica08 It is also my favorite song of death

  • hmmm making a song is not an easy thing

  • I prefer the solo that's on the album. More lively and fun. It's rediculous but it fit the song and I don't think Kirk even considers it a solo. If anything an improv to fit the song

  • omg 2:05 - 2:17 kirk is black!!!

  • No matter what the say about lars. and his drumming skills, i think althgough he isn't the best drummer in the world he is for sure a great organizer he knows how to take each part of the song and fit it exactly at it's position....

  • metallica wouldnt be where they are without him because of talents like that are overlooked

  • @Cra5hnatural

i agree. everyone thinks good drumming is fast drumming. thats not always true. lars has more talent than a lot of drummer and he was the one who inspired me to start drumming. without lars metallica wouldnt be what they are today

  • well lars is a great drummer hes just not the kind of drummer to do a drum solo or anything crazy with double bass

  • YEH!!! he wanted to expose Metallica's music not there own greatness!!! That's why you dont find Lars drum lesson or even kirk lesson.. because they are all loyal to the band!!

  • that would be dave lombardo.. I guess..

  • @Cra5hnatural E G, shit he knows his notes/theory too!

  • @Cra5hnatural dude how can you say that, although hes not the best drummer in the world, i dont rank drummers.

  • @Cra5hnatural He's a producer too. I think that James Sullivan from Avenged Sevenfold was close to him, he was god of drums from era of new wave bands. R.I.P.

  • @Cra5hnatural name one better drummer then Lars

  • @GETTOPOJKE Brann Dailor

  • @GETTOPOJKE joey joerdison :L

  • @TROLLINGCENTRAL Joey Jordison SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @capnkdawg c'maan, he's not that bad of a drummer. He's okay, but I wouldn't say he's the best. I'm going with Nick Menza from ]\/[EGADET]-[ all the way.

  • @Pwnzjoomom Nick is much better than Jordison...but not the best

  • @capnkdawg then out of curiosity, who would you consider as the best drummer?

  • @Pwnzjoomom dave lombardo and john bonham, all the way

  • @Pwnzjoomom There's a lot of great ones, but probly vinnie paul abbot

  • @Pwnzjoomom Menza is probably the best metal drummer, but best drummer ever is definately Keith Moon.

  • @Cra5hnatural i agree, but you gotta admit, although not the best, he is a a sick drummer :)

  • @TROLLINGCENTRAL No, he is a decent drummer....sick is Mike Smith from Suffocation, Adler from Lamb of God, Lombardo from Slayer , Kollias from Nile....

btw Metallica is my favourite band, not the best band but my favourite band.

  • @Cra5hnatural ahh fair enough

  • no way dude!! lars really sucks!! mettallica would be better without him he is a REALLLY BAD drummer!

    @Cra5hnatural

  • @19Metallica86 can u read what i have writen? i did not say he is the best drummer a said he is a decent drummer. but certainly not bad. He is the organizer of this band. he is the ones that takes care o mixing ,arranging the saong parts etc..

  • @Cra5hnatural yeah i read what you said but dude, LARS REALLY SUCKS AS A DRUMMER, i mean, metallica's songs would be MUCH BETTER without him, metallica needs another drummer who is more able to play HEAVY METAL and not that shitty basic beat that lars always do!

  • @19Metallica86 metallica is probably the most successfull band in the world. Lars found the name, lars began metallica.. without him the is no metallica. No matter if he is a good or a bad drummer. he is an essential part of the band. Stop trushing him. he is an average/decent drummer but as a composer, organizer, mixer etc he is probably one of the best in the world. And if u ask me i would never change a drum beat in any of the metallica songs even i dislike the song.

  • @Cra5hnatural For one second, imagine if they had a fuckin heavy drummer like BANANTE or LOMBARDO or JORDISON, dude that would be awesome if in stead of a simply rock beat in every fuckin' song, they would have a very hard double kicking beat!!

Dude, have you ever listened to st anger?, this album is SHIT and all because of Lars. His snare sounds like crap, and he didn't allowed kirk to do solos in all the album, just watch carefully to the some kind of monster documentary! LARS=SHIT

  • @19Metallica86 we r speaking of different albums maybe?some kind of monster refers to st. anger this is death magnetic.yeah i know he didnt want solos there. just let it rest dude. personaly i do not think any other drummer would be better in his place. because he is not only a drummer.Being in a band like metallica demands many more stuff that just being a musician.if u judge lars same thing goes about kirk's skills. he isnt the best guitarmagine loomis in ist for sure. ihis place for example.

  • @Cra5hnatural idk from where you take your references and all that shit, but learn that the rolling stones magazine, which is the reference in music, has placed kirk hammett in its top ten of the best lead guitarist of all time. Plus, i don't think he would've got inducted into the hall of fame if he wasn't extremelly good.

  • @slaydan1 I know it cause i play guitar...everyone that plays guitar knows it.. + I dont read music magazines. The reason..? -> they get paid to write stuff they are told. I love metallica, but kirk is not the best lead guitarist. I can name about 20 much better. So how is he even in the top ten?

  • @Cra5hnatural first: if you want to have any credit when you criticize a guitar player, the minimum you should do is show you are better. Second, I can bet you what the hell you want that at least 50% of your so great and much better guitar players aren't even inducted to the hall of fame. Pls proove me I'm wrong if you can.

  • @slaydan1 so u can say that a guitarist is at the top ten when u cant play better than him but u cant say that there are better guitar players if u are worse than them.... as for the hall of fame same goes for the magazine they take most successfull and famous guys there. Loomis isnt there. Kiko Loureiro isnt there. Gilbert isnt there. Tosin abasi isnt there. Broderick isnt there,Werstler and many many more. So stfu kid, i said kirk is a good guitarist but certainly not one of the best.

  • @slaydan1 + plus stop judging musicians from how famous they are. i can name u guitar player that u havent ever hearned and even imagined how they play hall of fame is for kids. Gus Drax. Anthimos manti, Kostas vretos. Some greek guys i ve seen from close, search on youtube look at what they are capable of.. Stop the kids reaction: "r u better than him? so why do dare to speak?" and most important learn to apprexiate music as it is.

  • @Cra5hnatural dude, what do you think only technically proficient guys should be in the hall of fame? So then Andy James, Alexi Laiho should be there too now shouldn't they? Thats not the point. No matter how well technically they are, they have not, and just cannot create the music Metallica has created. Songs like MOP, Enter Sandman, Creeping Death, One, Fade To Black all classics have been created by Metallica, Kirk included, and that's what matters...

  • @Cra5hnatural Music is much more than technicality. If that was all, then you shouldn't even be here. Go listen to some Bach, and Mozart if you are looking for technical stuff. But there's a big chance you won't. And you know what, Alexi won't either. It'll hurt the egos of "metalheads" to listen to anything below 250 bpm. I'm a guitarist too so i know what i'm talking about. Kirk might not be the fastest, he was when Metallica started, and has created some of the best music. Deal with it.

  • @develia Actually that's what i said, next time read the hole conversation first, then rush into replying. The argument was that kirk is one of the best guitarist on the world, just cause he is on the HOF. And i said the opposite (and that's just for the technical area, not for music it self). Conclusion? READ THE HOLE CONVERTATION AND THEN REPLY! (btw i love metallica and their music).

  • @Cra5hnatural ok i did not go through the WHOLE conversation i couldn't find the rest of it flipping through the pages. But if you support my view, its awesome :P. If not, then well I wouldn't judge you, its your view, and i just think I have a right to put it forward. Awesome that you regard Metallica for their music, cause i believe no other band could have done what they did. Cheers!

  • Love this song. It's my favorite one to play off this album. That and Cyanide :) lol both really fun songs

  • Yeeaaaah 4:52

  • i dont know if this is true didnt they say that they would never play suicide and redemption because of its length and because they didnt like it

  • not true.

They might think its long so they might not play the whole thing seeing as its intstrumental. But ive seen Metallica twice this year, and they played part of S&R both times

  • they already played the complete song live dude

  • NICE!!!!

  • i think it would have been better if they hat shortened it down a couple of minutes and remove some of the really long parts. like the 30 minutes of the same shit in the beginning. It's coll but not for long.

  • @corthni1010 Nah, they played it several times.

  • i like the solo on 2:04 more that the one on the album.. i think that this is the best song there, but it got really fucked because of the solo

  • yeah i agree..i KNOW kirk could of done a better solo for the song..i dont dislike the solo i just know it could of been better..but the riifs are fuckin sick

  • yeah.. the solo he plays here is much better. but i really dont like the solo.

  • I laughed every time James played a single note on the keyboard lol

  • what happened to youtube? theres no more hd, and the screen isn't full, and it doesnt tell you time on the red bar thing?

  • first solo is better than the second when taken as different piece. but i think lars is right. it sounds very differen than the mood of the song. but it may have added a nice dimension to the song..

  • 6:40 -unleashed solo

  • it's the best (:

  • are you that idiot to believe a shit like that?

    go to sleep idiot!

  • fuck u ass nut

  • I agree. When they would play that sweet riff after the intro, and then Lars would come in with that sweet drum fill sounded sweet in "Death is not the end".

  • i still like this song ibut i think death is not the end is abetter song but the sound didnt fit the album

  • and yet they used all the riffs from it in sperate songs throughout the album

  • Bob Cock? :P

  • its not. Technically dave mustaine made part of the first, cliff was on it as well, then it was kirk and cliff with J&L then it was Jason replacing cliff. here its rob playing bass. im just smart mouthing right here but comeone they are in a different mindset then they were back then.

  • Yes, and all things considered, with two of the main writers still intact, it's a very gay mindset bob rock has encouraged, just listening to fight fire with fire, now that's class....they should be able to keep the quality up even if the style changes.

  • i think this is my favourite from DM.. or i mean theyr all great :D cant pick just one

  • that bit at 2:05 sounds like something outta old school nickolodeon, like ren and stimpy or rocko's modern life or something, hell yeah!

  • Lars is a fucking tyrant in the studio. I love how he has an image in his head and he doesn't let go of it until he gets it out of the studio. That's such a good thing to be and that's definitely one of the reasons why Metallica...pretty much rules the fucking world.

  • the solo at 6:45 - 7:00 sounds a bit like mario / video game music getting coins or w/e

    haha

  • annoying drummer lol James is awesome ! \m/

  • this song is a masterpiece guys

  • I think I may prefer the solo at 6:35 to what ended up on the album. I kind of wished Lars hadn't had so much say in the solos for this record.

  • I notice that on pretty much everything that Metallica does. They all put their two cents in and then Lars adds about a $1.50. But hey, you can't argue with the final product, right?

  • really? i hated it, although i do think lars kinda fucks up the that was just your life solo

  • I like that one too. It had that evil sounding Thing That Should Not Be vibe, not just wah pedal ejaculation.

  • I agree. There are very few solos that could be considered "scary" sounding. The End of The Line solo sounds like it could jump through your speakers and kill you.

  • 4:52 WICKED bass playing!

  • I've got the DVD (and the only one) of In Flames, Used And Abused, and the DVD of Dark Tranquillity, Live Damage....I'd like to have a Metallica-DVD too (for my collection) which DVD from Metallica should I buy? There's so many of them...IF and DT have got only ONE dvd each....Metallica has 10000 :P

    Which Metallica-DVD is a "must-have"?

    just wondering.....

    \m/

  • Metallica Live Shit: Binge & Purge its pretty epic

  • yah binge and purge seattle is fucking incredible, cliff `em all is wicked too

  • "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica" is one of the better music DVD's out there. It's like 3 hours of Metallica and some of Hetfield making fun of Axl Rose. Definitely think of picking that one up too.

  • I liked "Some Kindof Monster" because it shows you how bad a shape the band was in and how close they were to splitting up. Just my 2 cents

  • End of the line!!the best damn song in the album!!!and the rest of them are pretty damn close!!!Metallica rules!!

  • does jame use His Gibson Iron Cross guitar only or does he also use the ESP Iron cross guitar

  • he has a new one he plays with live and its an esp the worn mark and paint thats gone is a paint job unlike his gibson

  • i might be wrong, but im pretty sure that james's iron cross is an esp because i have a book that shows all of the guitarists who use esp and ltd guitars and james is on the front page and kirk is on the second.

  • James uses his 1973 Gibson Iron Cross for studio stuff and once in awhile live. He uses the new ESP Iron Cross as his main guitar on the World Magnetic Tour

  • they have like every type of amp you can name lying around in their studios, randall, diezel, marshall, krank, etc im fucking JEALOUS

  • i think the demos sound better then the final production

  • I don't...

  • ohh i see, well not the song itself, just the quality of the sound

  • Oh, in that point of view... Well, yeah the quality is pretty cool... But I have the CD (actually bought it lol) and it sure as hell sounds as fucking awesome as fuck.

  • The verse reminds me of Creeping Death with the back-up vocals. Fuckin Bad ASS!!!!!

  • Omg why didn't they keep the solo at 2:06? That was so badass.

  • "Omg why didn't they keep the solo at 2:06? That was so badass."

seconded! the solo really fit the riff soooooo well and made the whole thing so catchy

  • This making of process........

How similar is it to how they would have made songs in the 80s?? Without all the studio playback stuff?

    Anyone know that?

I know it was mostly Lars and James playing around to make the arrangements but did they record anything and slice it up, or was it just playing playing playing until it felt right?

The 80s process (whatever it is) seems to yield tighter results (less bitty, more solid)

  • they could still edit the tape but it was a long process

  • This is a great song I'm so glad that Metallica exists

  • this is great album and great song :D

  • This is my friends favorite sogn on the album.

  • ya damn those harmonies sounded like classic Morello

  • Whoa the harmonies on that solo around 6:40 are fuckin sick

  • yea it almost seems as if hes tryin to hide behind th wha i dont know why hes a great player

  • I wonder how many songs they wrote for Death Magnetic that didn't make it to the album that they have to either scrap it, or add it to the next album. Please let there be a new Metallica album =[

  • rick the dick
