  • a whole different time no one is walking around with any cell phones and the women and little girls have headbands in thier hair ,you dont see that today.

  • that is the park that I remember.....

  • DIsney is about megabucks. Period.

  • do you happen to have a complete ride through of the mine ride? it used to be my favorite ride

  • @fullermrff I wish I did, but these clips, as well as a short clip on my 1965 video, are all I have.

  • @disneytim oh,OK...thanks,im sure it will show up on youtube one day. Someone must have it,I'll keep checking

  • What happened to the Tomorowland clock? Maybe a touch of Ry Cooder would be good here in Rainbow Ridge. Sorry we couldn't save all the storefronts. Natures Wonderland lives on in 2 Big Thunders and a Natures Wonderland was planned for Paris Dissneyland's Thunder Mesa. Hope D23 restores the NWLRR train.

  • is it just me, or was the train going super fast at 4:30 ?

  • @ariesdelorean55 It does seem to be moving pretty quickly, but I'm not sure if that's any faster than normal. One possibility is there was no Fantasyland/Toontown station in 1964 so the train had a straight shot from Frontierland to Tomorrowland and didn't have to adjust speed for an extra stop in between.

  • Thought you might like to know: I featured this video of yours in my article, "Retroland: Disneyland Through the Ages - Part 2" (I'd link if YouTube allowed). Thanks!

  • @fanofwalt Thanks for using the video in your article. I found it through Google. Great story!

  • y did they get rid of natures wonderland?!?! did someone die on it or something???

  • @nintendawesome Hardly. The Mine Train was as tame a ride as you could find in Disneyland. Like so many attractions, though, it gave way to bigger and better things. It closed in 1977 and was replaced by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Remnants of the Mine Train still do exist. The town adjacent to the BTMRR loading area was called Rainbow Ridge in its Mine Train days. You can also spot an old Mine Train tunnel and track on the trail leading from Frontierland to Fantasyland.

  • Also, take a ride on the Mark Twain or Columbia and you can see a derailed Mine Train on the east shore of the Rivers of America, right before you return to the dock.

  • Just wondering, but where did the monerail go back then? Because I know that Downtown Disney wasn't open then. Did it just go in a big loop? Or did it stop at some sort of station? But thank you very much for this footage. I'm a 13 year old Disney-Freak, and I've been dying to see video of natures wonderland, and the old matterhorn. Thank you my friend. Thank you.

  • @legodude700videos You're very welcome. The Monorail follows basically the same course now that it did then. It's moved slightly, but the Downtown Disney station is approximately where the original Disneyland Hotel station was. The hotel grounds used to extend all the way to the station. There were restaurants and shops about where the Rainforest Cafe and AMC Theater now stand, an Olympic-sized pool where what is now Compass Books & additional shops and "Garden Rooms" about where ESPN Zone is.

  • this is sooooo interestingggg i wana c mooorrreeee

  • I found Alice and the mad hatter

  • This was a great video--thanks for making it! I was very little when Nature's Wonderland shut down, so I don't remember it, nor do I remember the mountain peak at the edge of the Rivers of America. You got some great shots of Nature's Wonderland--thank you! :)

  • @07Disneygrl Sadly, no. But how awesome it would have been to meet him.

  • ahhh i'm too young :( my first time visiting disneyland was 1992, and I was in the womb. :/

  • This is a wonderful bit of old footage of Disneyland. I wish I had something like this from my childhood. Thanks for sharing!

  • Old Disneyland was so magical... I would loved to have seen it. Now it's just some big corporate moneymaking theme park, there is no wonder any more. The magic of Disney died with Walt.

  • @drleatherface You area very sad, depressed and ignorant human being -.- Disneyland is every bid as magical if not more today than at that time. Now everything is much richer, more detailed and authentic giving one a much more immersive experience.

  • @drleatherface, yes, it's very corporate--it was, then, too, but nobody knew it. The magic is still there, I promise. If there was no magic or wonder, I wouldn't have purchased annual passes for myself nor my two children. It's different from this video, but that's okay. The important parts are still there.

  • Excellent

  • Too sad they got rid of Nature's Wonderland, I would have loved to see that!

  • favorited and thumbs up just for including footage from nature's wonderland

  • Wow I had no idea the Matterhorn was that old. I always thought it was built around the mid-80's

  • @Trance1972 The Matterhorn opened in 1959, the same year the Monorail and original Submarine Voyage opened as well. They all marked their 50th birthdays last year.

  • Great memories. Loved that time---the early 1960s. Such a wonderful time in America. Thanks for uploading the excellent film shots!

  • Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland always did look more "frontier" than Big Thunder Mountain Railroad did.

  • 1964 was the first year I visited Disneyland.

  • if i could go back in time i'd want to re-visit disneyland of the 1960s. it seemed so unspoiled back then. the early growth years of the late 50s were over, and walt was still around to make the decisions of what stayed and what needed to be replaced. the disneyland of the last 30 years seems less well thought out,and less magical. i still love the place, but it feels like something is missing. it's more of a money making enterprise than a happy memory making escape from reality.

  • I wish the mine train was still there! I guess I am too young to have enjoyed it, but I see the old remnants and tunnels where it used to be.

  • everything was in color back then?:p

  • Great stuff! I grew up in So Cal from 1960-70 and forced my folks to take me to DL as often as I could. I was 6 in 64 and went a number of times that year....maybe we were there at the same time!! LOL DL was better then but I doubt it would hold the interest of todays kids....but thats OK I'd travel the 3000 miles and go by myself! Thanks for the video!!

  • i remeber all this shame how they changed it

  • Im all about the Disney of the 70s as that is when my pops took us every year. The video looks similar to what i remember as the happiest times of my childhood. Thank you for that!

  • Cajun music from smartsound!

  • I was born into a family that loved disney and disney land, and have gone since even before i could walk. The thing is, i was born in 92, so i never got to see the old mine train and things like that. Thanx for posting the video, its awesome to finally see some of these great attractions that are sadly no longer around.

  • Awesome job on this. The Mine Train is still my favorite ride that Disneyland has ever had. Thank you very much for sharing this footage of classic Disneyland.

  • Thanks for the video!

  • All I can say is what an awesome production!! Thank yo for sharing.

  • When I was 10 years old my grandma took me to Disneyland for the first time in July 1964. That was all it took. From that time on I have been to Disney World with our family probably 30 times. But, since we live in the midwest I haven't been back to Disneyland since.

    Great video

  • Go back to Disneyland! Disneyworld is great, but it's just not the same. It doesn't have the attention to detail, or Walt's special touch. A lot has changed, but it's still the same special place, and worth a cross country trek.

  • I seriously think half of these things should still be there.

the mine train? that was cool. But they've changed Tom Sawyer's Island completely into Pirate Island...and I don't like it at all. I miss the old Disney...that was the fun stuff.

And--as much as I love Finding Nemo--the old submarine ride was so much better and exciting. The Finding Nemo themed ride is a joke, soooo not worth waiting two hours for. Just saying.

  • @sowhathomiec as an 80's child I agree with you in regards to leaving tom sawyer's island how it was, however the sub ride was a little outdate, and the finding nemo ride is pretty cool

  • Really? I didn't like it. The old sub ride was cool, because the things moving outside of it were real. Well, not real, but at least not just screens projecting images of fish, you know? And it's almost...too colorful. The coral looks like it's made out of fruit loops lol.

  • nice music!

  • what was i like lugging around a movie camera back then? lol

  • Some tributes are still there; like the jumping fish for example.

  • Jesus, that kid in the red and white striped shirt is hideous.

  • hahahah

  • Hey Adorable, I mean, Disney Tim,

That footage is awesome. This is just how I remember Disneyland as a kid too. It is great to see it again! Thanks so much for posting!

  • 5:16 California Adventure

  • So fantastic! I love being able to see the archival footage of Disneyland in moving pictures.

And I think everyone already knows that you are freakin' adorable. :)
