Thank you RAH and Spider for an unexpected joy. RAH was the father I never had...he taught me so much, and Spider the brother I don't have. I love you both.

I don't need science fiction to tell me or to show me the other side, if you really want to know seek God, not men who are stuck in a "pipe dream" from the sixties.
As in all his novels Robinson mimics Heinlein's writing style remarkably well though he departs from Heinlein's practical rationality and tends more toward wishful thinking that is very much not like Heinlein. This book is a pale imitation, all style and no substance.
I've just finished reading Variable Star, even though I heard of it over a year ago. I was skeptical, so I backburnered it. Spider rocks, but finishing a Heinlein outline...that was never done before. As an old, dyed in the wool RAH fan, oh my god! So well done! Seriously amazing, especially if you cut your teeth on Heinlein.
Wow, Spider looks exactly like I've always pictured Jake. Thanks for posting this, Spider has been a favorite author of mine since I was a kid :) Heinlein is of course the grandmaster!
Funny, how a Hippie Robinson (hate his politics, love his books) became enamored with Heinlen ( Check out "Time Travellers Strictly Cash")who in fact had opposing political views (see "Starship Troopers"). Can't wait to get this book.
A narrow road in Saratoga, California. I pick up a man and boy in overalls. They've just wallpapered a writer's house. His name? Robert Heinlein. 1976.
I am just discovering Heinlein - I Love Orphans Of The Sky.

"For us, the living", "Job: A Comedy of Justice" and "If This Goes On—" are my current favorites.
Thank you for your beautiful mind Mr.Heinlein.

I don't think Robinson is the person to write a juvenile.

Nice to see what Spider Robinson looks like after reading so many of his novels. I'm of course a huge Heinlien fan too. I'll have to look for this.
Folks check out some of Spider's other work. Worth the read all of it.

It's good to see that Heinlein "lives" on YouTube.
The human race will either learn the lessons Heinlein (and other wise beings) have taught...or we shall become extinct...and deservedly so.
I remain hopeful...but it's getting tougher. :-)
