I love it when reviewers over simplify things. That's the sign of someone try to get through a review as fast as possible which means I weight their review with about as much integrity.
I played the game and agree with this review only i'd have given it a lower score. Characters are ANNOYING. Dungeons are dull and repetitive. Story sucks. Combat system is too simple and boring. If you want a GOOD rpg, go play kingdom hearts or final fantasy. And finally. fanboys, BRING. IT. ON.

I remember renting this and the combat system was fun but it got a little boring in the beginning and I didn't have the patience to play more. It's a shame too because it seemed pretty fun and the graphics were amazing, especially because it was so late in the life of the PS2. IGN gave it a better review but I remember agreeing more with this one after I rented it.
This review is unbearably bad. I respect their score decisions, but some of what they say is simply untrue and the review has sickeningly little information.
The funny thing is, back then they critisized these PS2 Rpg's in a harsh way, now we miss these types of RPG's on the PS3. If one of these RPG's were released on it, the reviews would give it a good score because they missed these games. That's how subjective and bad reviews actually are. Just sayin'
they are in buildings, what happend to the unique Factory system that is later in the game to collect more swords, items, unique items, we all Rpg' ers know about that one item nobody has, well the game lets you create from a link via the Factory a unique item from Scratch, huh lol x-play didnt say that either, and the time it takes to precisely get that item, its not easy, lol it takes some require thought, but when you do it you feel you accomplished a lot and you got that item, ya, work
Also there is a unique Revelation system that goes along with all the items you pick up not to mention a club for hunters on licenses, uh-huh at least the story is not confusing or is mixed in what something you dont know about, like some games I know that require you to play the last game to know what the game is talking about, every person that plays Rogue Galaxy is all the same, fun Pirate game, that im sorry but x-play says the dungeons are the same, lol they are not all dungeons,
First, thing that you are introduced to is the amount of enemies that the Camera can capture, lol where is your Party? how do I level up, at least the game keeps you guessing at this point, its not mere where do I go and what story am I on, the game tells you exactly where to go follow the red triangle and goto the big star, on the map, you save and come back and the story tells you your mission, what game does that? none, There is a vast variety of weapons and costumes to wear for each player
I doubt that x-play really know what they are talking about!!! Rogue Galaxy has a lot of new features including a Revelation system and the ability to play and combine Weapons with a new weapon based system, not to mention the Best Sword EarthShaker, that is the best looking sword since Link, lol but also the Challenge of the new gameplay as far as the battle recorder, the ranking system, and the over stocked Item system, so this is not a good uh Review, this review is a 1 to me, from x-play

I like the implication that an opinion is somehow invalid if it contradicts majority consensus. Reviews are just professional opinions, not objective statements. If you typically agree with a reviewer, maybe listen to them. If you typically don't agree, don't listen. If you disagree with their conclusions, you're both still right. Why we still have this outrage that a critic did or didn't like some game is beyond me. That's just like, their opinion, man.
