  • it is in A minor scale and minor armonic. and the base is C-Em-Am-G F or F G don t remember

you can use arpeggios of the chords and pentatonc too (Am).

  • marty's ''sweeping'' pick hand is amazing

  • Thats one of the most awkward looking picking hands' ever

  • god dam. definately an alien

  • This man can play everything.

  • i used to watch marty play when i knew nothing and was like wow big deal and now after developing a true taste and an ear for beautiful guitar melodies Marty friedman is definitely one of my fav...

  • Dat chorus... Takes me back to Marty's earlier days... Hell, the whole 80s and 90s all over again. Just the way I like it.

  • 0:17

the producers of the show must have been like

"Hey marty you can stop now....marty?"

    "I don't think he's listening Bob..."

  • I feel bad for not practicing guitar today now.

  • love this solo

  • somebody please send me a tab i MUST learn it!!!

  • @bodor920810 That's the thing... You DON'T learn it... It's all improv. You have to make it up :)

  • because of this guy, the jackson kelly is now on my list for guitars that i want. i was trying to figure out what guitar he had -.-

i like the smaller "explorer" feel to it

  • Its ridiculous... each note he plays has its own complete personality. This guy has some kind of higher ability.

  • to play with THAT feeling, he must have 2 souls...

  • ain't human....

  • 0:54 THAT BEND IS "ORGASMATIC"

  • He's so good but something about his picking hand bothers me it's all in sync and everything but it just looks funny the ways he's resting it or something...everyone has their own style.

  • Marty friedman!!

  • friedman is really the king of improvisation, i mean hendrix was sure as hell groundbreaking and a fucking king but friedmans fantasy here and the way he changes from slow to fast and everything shit...

  • @pepinozinanasshole

    LAUGH MY ASS OFF!!

"and the way he changes from slow to fast and everything shit..."

Who are you silly children that are all so impressed with this guy??

    Do yourselves a favor...

Check out Danny Gatton playing "Sleepwalk"

Check out Joscho Stephan playing "Django's Tiger"

You'll finally see a couple players with real dynamics.

  • @67goldtops First of all, I'm entitled to my opinion. Second, no guitarrist is better than the other its just different styles. and third, if you really think he sucks then keep it to yourself. I guess youre one of those who say on tallica videos and such "My metal army will rampage and devour bieber" give it a break kid. you and what army? its fucking music its not some gang war. Anyway sHut THE FUCK UP if you dont have anything nice to say, you dig?

  • Comment removed

  • @67goldtops sleepwalk and djangos tiger are both great songs, just looked up django's tiger actually haha. the difference between those songs and this song is that this is improvised. played upon many times yes, but still improvised on the spot, and with those sick half bends and vibratos. that sole reason makes this amazing. and if you dont think marty friedman has real dynamics, you got some serious studyin to do pal

  • Comment removed

  • @67goldtops ? i dont see you posting any videos on your own, where your cajones at? i made that video to show my uncle i learned the solo lol, i dont have to explain anything to you i already know im good, not the best, but enough to know what im talking about. man whats up with these old time guitarists haha, guthrie govan and marty friedman are probably a couple of the best all-around guitarists right now.

  • @67goldtops danny gattons great, (check it out, im not a condescending asshole like you!) his style is amazing im not going to disagree. to reiterate i disagree with you implying that marty friedman has no dynamics in his playing and for you to look up dynamics and maybe a few youtube videos to get a better understanding, because yours seems to be skewed. and THERE you go. LOL, you joker

  • Comment removed

  • @67goldtops honest critiques? seems more of an attack than an honest critique, am i wrong? youre attacking me and insulting me, rather than my playing. lets see, 67goldtops, youre either a fan of music from that era and goldtop les pauls or quite an immature 44 year old, and im guessing youre the latter. youre really going to talk condescendingly to a 20 year old like that? does it make up for your life failures or make you feel better? im sorry if my playing did not live up to your standards

  • @67goldtops now if youre prepared to start a "flame war" or trying to start a verbal argument, i'd be happy to give you my phone number so we can talk about it like MATURE adults, but wait one of us still has to mature right? dynamics in my understanding, is the use of gradual changes of volume in music, sometimes to change the overall tone, but it can be referred to many aspects in music, such as in guitar using harmonics like above^.

  • @67goldtops damn i got so much to type and theres a stupid character limit. yeah im aware of danny gatton being dead, i dont know why you included that? anyways now youre comparing derek trucks, a STRICTLY blues man, vs marty friedman, a metal guitarist, and guthrie govan, who i would not be surprised could trade slide licks with derek trucks. honestly it comes down to opinion, id rather hear marty or guthrie play blues rather than trucks because they are more versatile in their playing style

  • Comment removed

  • @67goldtops i would come up with a witty retort if you had the proper grammar. i can't tell what point youre trying to get across. sorry dropping out of college to pursue your failed rock career didnt work out. i am a child. period. does that make me inferior or cause my opinions to be inane? not one bit. youre clearly attacking me rather than addressing the original argument at hand, so i already won this argument, take a class on logic. i have nothing more to say to you. good day.

  • Comment removed

  • @shaneghim you ought just shut the fuck up, regardless of who is right in this little bitchy tiff you have going here. You Talk To Much

  • @delta9LouDog lol this guy deleted his argument or something. it was a terrible one and i won, sorry for being stubborn and smart.

  • Hello, this is Dave.

I have noticed that you are interested in an adult male to be your dominant sex master for a while. That is a sweet request for me, as I have many pubic hairs just rising at the thought of touching your bold white breasts.

Send me your picture and a copy of your birth certificate and we will promptly get underway with love games.

    Sincerely,

    Dave

  • @parafleet arkward.......

  • I've always thought he was an interesting player, but what I'd really like to know is how in the world is it that he finds that to be a comfortable picking style? I mean, he is obviously comfortable with it, but how?

  • @glguitarman I've always thought the same thing...its such an unusual style. Maybe that's just the way he learned when he was younger and it just stuck? However he did it...it certainly did him proud!

  • @glguitarman that's the same way I learned, now for me it's simply uncomfortable and too difficult for me to pick conventionally(it took alot of effort for me to keep my arm raised when I was sitting down). That could be the way he feels about conventionally picking.

  • @9erMatthew Yeah, I would imagine he feels that way, obviously. My comment is sort of a useless rhetorical question/statement anyway. However it is that he picks, he sounds good none the less.

  • @glguitarman He says it helps him play extra clean :)

  • this guy just pushes u to play more just when u think a peice is perfect by ur playing watch his vids they wont shout u cant play like him but they will humm u can do better

  • imagine jason becker backing him up and vice versa today. they would be unstoppable.

  • Chris is good, but hes a little bit too mechanical. Marty has passion in his playing, the solos may not've sounded the same every live show, but damnit they all sound good

  • marty friedman rules!

  • you know your right the melodies are freaking awesome....... i wish i had half of that talent to come up with them solos!!

  • Downright beautiful.

    Marty's the man

  • music doesnt have to be fast to be beatiful, damn

    i love this performance :D

so as all the ones he plays

  • clean. bass down (not too much) Midrange a little past 12 o clock, treble down( again not too much) a little bit of reverb and a tiny tiny bit of breakup

  • I like playing friedman stuff but it gets me in the habit to stop using my pinky

  • 0:20 I thought that something was sneaking in my room

  • lol fuckin creepy ass fans marty has lol

  • @GearsOfWar01000 you have no idea...

  • 00:18 - 00:24 = orgasim.

  • where find this tab !!? U are god !

  • Comment removed

  • man, every time i watch a marty video, it's like i've never heard this guy play ever before, even though i own all of the megadeth albums that have him on guitar. i mean, seriously, this guy is so fuckin' amazing. I am so amazed. And a little turned on.

  • how the hell does he come with all these amazing melodies, and so many beautiful changes, he must be an alien.

  • @aryaxt I'm waiting to get a strand of his hair to do a DNA sample.

  • @EpiphoneSH4 I'm sure the results will come back "Bad DNA"

..and the results for this comment will come back "Bad Joke" lmao

  • @ShowNoMercy502

    Haha. I wasn't gonna say anything! ;)

  • @EpiphoneSH4 but you thought it hahaha

  • @EpiphoneSH4 I think we can use his pick which i took in a live from him

  • @aryaxt Possibly by having a musical taste other than just metal, like most metal fans do. ^_^

  • marty must be a genious because its hard as hell to follow the chords of a progression while retaining soulful playing

  • everytime i see any of marty video, i push myself to practice even more

  • @dlz124 That's what these vids are all about. Keep up the practice.

  • @dlz124 same here

  • @dlz124 Agree !

  • @dlz124 Me too TT_TT his playing inspires me... and his Jackson Kelly and his hair too xD

  • if im honest. I think this sounds like shit , his fingers look fucked up too.

  • @asscrackben Fair enough ^^ .

  • this is better than sex lol

  • just one word: GENIUS

  • sounds better than a sex-hungry chick..

  • that was really pretty to listen to

  • and this was recorded like 20 years ago...just imagine how has he improoved since then

  • its like hes having sex with the guitar :D

  • nice jackson guitar

    epic melody

  • his phrasing is amazing

  • very beautiful

  • Pure orgasmn.

  • his technique fits his style:)

  • He has the most unusual right hand picking technique....but obviously very accurate.

  • Friedman cannot be beat for amazing, unusual melodies. There are better guitarists, technique-wise, but none come close to Friedman for improvisation or melody in my opinion.

  • you re right. but maybe only jason becker and randy rhoads an beat friedman in speed

  • rhandy rhoads??? was he really that fast?

  • in fact he wasnt.

    yes for that time,

    but he mostly used legato,

but is all about how he composed, he was great R.I.P.

  • @Zartar117 that's the secret, forget about the fucking technique, and work on melodies and music, that's what Marty is about, and that's why hes the best

  • Its clear to me, listening to this, that god (whatever that is?) gave Marty the same melodic ability to construct solos as he did to birds singing the dawn chorus

This is incredibly beautiful and although Jason Becker is my no1 guitar player of all time, even he would bow to this enlightenment of melodic beauty

  • Well they are really good friends :) + they've played togerther in a band called Cacophony.

  • I know dude, epic stuff

  • Well, apart from the singing lol

  • marty didnt show what he was able to do with guitar because of the later Megadeth albums, his best guitar album with Megadeth was Rust In peace, and that is still Megadeth's best technical yet succesful album

  • jizzed in my pants

  • he was always my favorite megadeth lead guitarist i dont really like chris broderick he doesnt do the solo's right

  • actually he was the only one besides marty that actually played the solos note for note, the guy that didnt play them right i thought was glenn drover

  • he didnt do a tout le monde solo right

  • or tornado of souls, symphony of destruction

  • he recorded youthanasia which featured a tout le monde, so i think he wrote it. if its not him its dave but new guitarists plays the solo in the newer version from united abomination. so im about sure he did

  • .who else thinks this guy is the amazing? marty kicks arse

  • Im with you on that on, Marty is amazing, and with him and Jason combined it becomes beyond godly!!!!

  • this guy's one step ahead of god

  • @Marinisp ur not alone!

  • Wonderfoul

  • just fucking listen!!!!!!!!!!!

    and shut it!!

  • crap

  • Yes crap is a good work to describe Poland

  • no, it describes your mother - a fat english swine :)

  • ha ha, thank you I'll let her know. BTW I like polish. I have an english workforce I pay them £8.00 an hour and I have a polish workforce I pay £3.00 which pays for my nice house, car and holiday many times a year so thanks for the slaves :0)

  • :) ok, now I'm 100% sure you are this kind of english idiots who can barely speel their name, and can do nothing else but complainnig about emmigration :) Stop being stupid, english fathead - you are in Europe; who works for 3 pounds ? In my working team only I come from Poland and unfortunattely have got most money than my english colleagues. Cheer up twat, get some books and quolification and stop being stupid. Good luck, the recession finish you up anyway :)

  • The recession has been great, It taught me that people dont mind paying for value they just dont like paying for crappy workmanship so l simply layed a few polish off and im fine now, doing better than ever actually

Im not complaining about immigration btw I like having a slave force at my disposal, when I get sick of any of the crappy jobs its great to just pick up the phone and then a big lorry load of polish come to take care of it all...wonderful!

  • Oh, really punk? You evidently don't know what you're talking about twit. All I can do is just congratulate you such a big imagination you've got and feel sorry for your stupidity and manners. Do you realy want to make me believe that all English are country bumpkins having mentality and manners like nazis?

  • lol you come onto a jason becker page and marty friedman page and start leaving comments liek "crap" ...and you accuse me of not know what im talking about

FYI I have nothing against you or any other polish person its just I dont like your attitude. Coming onto a page and insulting 2 of the best guitarists in the world, when clearly you have no knowledge of guitar.

if you dont like something then fine but that doesn't mean something is crap, if you did that with skin then thats nazi thinking!

  • Yes, I come onto this page because YouTube is for everyone which includes me as well. I left comment "crap" because in my point of view that piece of guitar music was really "a crap", and it is not an insult: it's just a comment and quick, simple evaluation. This doesn't imply that I despise Jason Becker as a human being, an American or a gutarist.

  • Contrary, I personaly think this guy is a one of the few the best guitar players on this world. (He had a technique and still has a soul which is very unique.)

The problem is, you started to pick on my nationality and my nationality as any other nationality doesn't make any references to the guitar music and to this topic.

  • You have not a base to think I haven't got a knowledge of guitar.

And......finally, when you say: "(...) if you did that with skin then thats nazi thinking!' you are wrong again. A one of prohibited nazi books under the title: "SS race theory" says: "If race problem concerned ONLY colour of skin, then race problem WOULD NOT exist at all". Follow my advice and get some books before you start to define conceptions.

  • My base is the fact you call Marty "Crap", which is an ignormas comment at best being as hes one of the best guitar players in the world PERIOD!

So if you do have any guitar knowledge its needs seriously refining before you start making flippant comments about other guitar players

Look, Im not getting in to a pointless conversation about naziism either, so "Get a Life"and save the intellectual snobbery for someone who actually gives a shit

  • So shut up you nazi cunt and don't discuss about things you don't know about!! Intellectual snobberi? No, it's some evidences prooving you are typical english daft! In my point of view you are stupid, a bit fanatical, simpleminded shit and all attitudes, fascinations and idols are exactly the same qaulity as you (that's why - among other things - you can't stand some different frank opinions..) You started the pointless argument so now...

  • c mon fuck you all!

just listen and stop fuck you eachother

  • ...when I know what you think of me and you know, what I think of you it's time to call it quits.

  • lol idiot

  • @maerinaim fucking troll.

  • dis shit maeks me cry haha

  • i hate when someone plays a solo on clean channel.

Yes, bitch on me, he plays really good, but i just dont like this solo, i think it would sound better to my ears if it was on an acoustic guitar

  • Hey, certainly dont agree with you at all but you are NOT wrong, its your opinion

    :0)

  • I feel you...or on a gretch.

  • the point of this video is to show you that you need to be able to hear the rhythm in your head, even when its not there. That's what you should be thinking about while your soloing, your base for all your leads.

  • gorgeous solo, makes me wanna pee (orgasmic)

  • what song is he jamming to? and does anyone know what scale he is using? its fucking beautiful

  • hey guys!amazing guitar player!one of my favourites!!

do you know the name of this whole guitar clinic?

  • Melodic control

  • Would you believe he was in Megadeth!!! What a classic guitarist!

  • Thank god it wasnt for the entire duration that they were around.

  • he tells stories when he plays, so incredible

  • Not really. The only story im hearing from this is the one about waking up in a tub full of ice missing a kidney...

  • Watching it over and over again.

  • hey greasemcvey...you suck sped

  • so tender

  • beautiful...

  • one word: amazing

  • I have only this to say:

    He's the King.

  • I wonder why Marty only feature once in the G3 jam....

  • hes too good for them lol :P

  • he's very tied down in Japan, so he can't move around as freely as Joe Satriani and the others. Even Paul Gilbert had to stop because of his own Japanese commitments (he is honorary dean of every Musician's Institute in Japan).

  • I was thinking about the same. I guess there will be a time for Friedman to tour around the world with G3, not in the near future though.

  • Actually he was featured twice. First time he jammed along with Steve Lukather in the G3.

  • nice~!

  • if u watched the video, you will see marty played west chorus before he improvised the solo like what u see up there (C Em Am G F chords)..if you want to similarised with black stallion jam, you should consider jason becker involvement in that song..btw, marty is the best..

  • this is 'west' impro..not black stallion jam..

  • he's actually playing solo on jimi hendrix's song - little wing...

  • damn!!posted comment on different video...

    hahaha...my mistake....

  • lol...

  • God I love Marty's phrasing. I wonder how he developed such a personalized style.
