For those of us who were not present at this performance --- this is A REAL TREAT. I've seen pieces of clips, but never the complete video. You ought to receive an AWARD for posting this!!!
Well, after doing some investigation, the band is really Duke's orchestra, but the conductor is JIMMY JONES.
"James Henry "Jimmy" Jones (December 30, 1918, Memphis, Tennessee - April 29, 1982, Burbank, Los Angeles)(...)he worked in the 1960s with Harry Belafonte, Johnny Hodges, Budd Johnson, Nat Gonella, and Clark Terry. He(...)led the Duke Ellington Orchestra and acted as a substitute pianist for Duke Ellington in the ensemble when they accompanied Ella Fitzgerald." from WIKIPEDIA, God bless it
Ella at her best. Satin Doll is such a great way for her to show an extraorinary vocal range. Thanks

Swingin' hard...yet sweet. That band was kickin' with Ella on top of her game.
With her creativity and control, she could sing the phone book, and it'd be a masterpiece.
Thanks for posting this.
