Stargate Universe struck me as a rip-off of BSG. Not so much influenced by it as copied from it. They even had a cheeky scientist with a British accent that didn't mesh with the military command.
Haha thought the very same thing. Though he's one of my favourite actors. Without him, I probably wouldn't even bother with SGU, he makes it just bearable.
@AndyHocvs At the first few episodes I immediately recognized at least 4 'cheap' copies (talking about the characters). In the end, the story seemed okay, got better...and I liked the ending. I will never like the characters, though. I'm talking about SGU, of course.
I'm not talking about SG-1 troll, I'm talking about universe. I think we can all agree SG-1 and Universe were completely different in style, in fact, universe was advertised as being a departure from the older series. What am I supposed to credit God for BSG because God invented space before Ronald D. Moore. ever thought of space travel? Idiot.
@AndyHocvs No need to get to torn up about it. I'm just saying that both are awesome and there's no need to be such a hater. Also, some of of here just want to listen to one of the best soundtracks ever instead of reading your hate and semantics.
They should of stayed on Kobal, their homeworld. Just make the Cylons think they moved on and then backtrack. The Cylons would have eventually found Earth nuked to kingdom come and the Humans would have been living large.
@dmkavidelly Actually, I was saying that YOUR ending would have been way better than the piece of crap that we got. Seriously, "anti - climactic" does not even begin to describe the let down I felt. I totally understand why that the did it, kind of like an homage to the original series (the brief season 2 of the original series was set on earth in the '70s).
@Purplecatsoup30 Honestly...? What would you have preferred? Sound and visuals so incredible your nose would begin to bleed and your bowels let loose? The final battle of Galactica ramming into the Colony was so intense I almost pissed myself; the final jump to Earth was so fitting and triumphant, the tying of of loose ends between most characters so perfectly done. Seriously, what more do you people want???
The largest error in my mind was that Tigh and Adama never really said goodbye.
@dmkavidelly Earth, the home of the 13th tribe had already been nuked about 2000 years prior to the events of the series. The Earth settled at the end of the series (our Earth) wouldn't have been nuked because the planet was in a prehistroic state and not a threat
@sirtimofthestrat Technically speaking, yup -- the original Cylon world settled by the 13th Tribe is/was the "real" Earth, as our world is simply named in honor of the real planet Earth (which was destroyed).
The music creates the atmosphere, it is dark and mythical like the main themes that the show explores: fate vs free will, existence of a God and leadership
@PathogensQuest BSG is pretty much the only really worth while show on SciFi. When I was younger I loved SG-1, but that was sort of a "little league" sci fi series. Battlestar Blows all of them away, it is one deep show.
@SargeantSquid If you have that feeling about SG-1, and LOVE Battlestar, you should check out the new Stargate series, Stargate Universe; it's more akin to BSG that SG-1 and Atlantis, is darker, more mature, character driven and much deeper.
Absolutely. This music is on the level of a small-screen version of John Williams' music in terms of pure epicness. I'd love to see Bear do a feature film. He's exquisite and every bit as good as the famous composer.

Any visit to Kobol costs a price in blood. The religious superstions of the general populous would have prevented them from settling the planet.

Especially since, in the show, those superstitions were often validated...

@dmkavidelly Yeah, totally. However, then would they have been able to have a bullshit ending to an awesome TV show? No...

It's unbelievable that something this awesome is on the soundtrack for a show on SciFi. It smokes most music in big production movies.

ummmm battlestar was a amazing show, thus goes with the music, made it that much better

No shit. Have you seen other programming on SciFi? Then again, had this show gone to a major network, the executives would have destroyed it.
