  • Pro-abortion <3

  • *you're doing it*

  • @thevansleaving, lmfao, two can play this game - not replying directly to the other....the difference is that you're doing because you're wrong and a coward; by contrast, I will do it just to piss you off and rub my intellectual superiority in your face.

    The 4th amendment grants no clear privacy rights, there is no enumerated right to privacy.

    Consequently, any right to privacy has to be accepted as implied, found in the penumbra, (in between the lines) Thus, the right can be stretched

  • @RebelGuy95 my quote proved you completely incorrect ijust because it does not state "privacy" the fact it prevents government into our personal lives without due process is privacy, if it simply said you have the right of privacy it could be construed however the government wanted.

  • --- to include abortion *from* prior cases... ---

  • Hmm, well, McCain, if one strictly interprets the Constitution then there is no right to privacy, period, for the right to privacy does not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

  • @RebelGuy95 a "right to privacy" is implied and protected by most of our laws anyway, where it's appropriate. We don't need Roe v. Wade to enforce some arbitrary "right to privacy."

  • @thestebbz18, all of our laws are derived from either the constitution directly or from the constitutionality of their implementation.

    The right to privacy, if there is any, therefore, is completely dependent upon how the constitution is interpreted in these cases, as well as any others dealing with said right.

    Roe v. Wade merely stretched the right to privacy to include abortion prior cases allowing first married, then even unmarried individuals to use contraceptives!

  • @RebelGuy95 so whats the fourth ammendment for that protects us and gives us privacy?

    "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses,

    papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and

    seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue,

    but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affi rmation,

    and particularly describing the place to be searched,

    and the persons or things to be seized."

    pretty sure thats privacy

  • @thevansleaving, your quote affirmed my post, for no where in the fourth amendment, nor the Constitution, is there an enumerated right to privacy.

  • @RebelGuy95says: if one strictly interprets the Constitution then there is no right to privacy, period,

    It is implied, such as the privacy of beliefs (1st Amendment), privacy of the home against demands that it be used to house soldiers (3rd Amendment), privacy of the person and possessions as against unreasonable searches (4th Amendment), and the 5th Amendment's privilege against self-incrimination, which provides protection for the privacy of personal information.

  • @Sueezee1, it is implied....that is not enumerated. Perhaps you misread and or did not fully read my post/s.

    If a right is not enumerated then it is not set in stone by any standard....hell, even if it is enumerated said right/s can be altered or abridged.

  • YES!!! GO MCCAIN! It's time to bring justice to the millions of babies who have been murdered since this fraudulent decision was decided by judicial activists who spat on the Constitution. READ THE CONSTITUTION PEOPLE!!! I am having a hard time trying to find the clause that makes abortion a so-called "right". IT DOESNT EXIST! There is however a 10th amendment that states "powers not delgated to the fed. govt are delegated to the states"

  • I am soooo tired of people trying to stick their hand in my panties. This is tiresome. You want to have a baby, have it. I am not giving anyone the right to chose for me so Thanks but no thanks Daddy. I 'd like my freedom too. If men were also to have the ability to have babies this would not even be close to the spectrum of debate. Figures.

  • lol roe v wade is a joke, i haven't met a lawyer yet who agrees with its constitutional validity

  • abortion prevents crime. unwanted children are more often not socialized to function in our society. I still think it is taking a human life, and that it should be up to the states, even if 23 of them ban it.

  • @9921yourwong Can you imagine how this country would be if states were allowed, by majority vote, to deny certain civil rights? Without me mentioning any specifically, please allow yourself to entertain that thought. Civil rights are not negotiable. When we allow that to occur, eventually there will be freedom for no one and dictatorship for all.

  • @TheTazTN thats a good point about civil rights, abortion rights are not the same category.

  • @9921yourwong so a woman has no control over her own body?

  • @4278snowpeas Yes she does! She can control if weather or not she has sex, or if she uses birth control.

  • @robertelee7 says: she can control has sex or not, use birth control

    ~~~~~~~~~ Whyy dont you keep your nose out of womens vaginas..UNLESS, we can have ours in YOUR private parts. Deal?
  • @robertelee7 even if shes raped?
  • @4278snowpeas Ahh the famous abortion rape argument! 0.4% of abortions are done due to rape. I would still be against having an abortion in that case, but those women would have more of an excuse to have an abortion than the other 99.6% of women.
  • @robertelee7 So you now control all of a woman? Can I cut off your reproductive rights? or am I not allowed to because you are superior to all women? I have an idea for a a bill! At the age of 45, if a man is not married, he must get his penis cut off. Good idea? It would certainly reduce the amount of unwanted pregnancies, and men are the reason why we have abortions. keep it in your pants and we'll stay away from the pill/procedures. :)
  • @4278snowpeas Did I say anything about reproductive rights? I'm talking about "birth" rights. I'm fine with a woman who expresses her "reproductive rights" every night, but who allows the baby to be born and go to a decent home. An unborn baby is a separate conscious mind and body who is not a part of the woman, but merely dependent on the mother until it is born. I doubt I'll carry on this argument with you when you take so long to reply, and when you do its with invalid and off-topic arguments
  • @robertelee7 Im sorry that Im doing more important things with my life than keeping up with your misguided viewpoint. I am a woman. You are, Im guessing, a man. You will never experiance childbirth. You will never be raped and be left with a sexually transmitted person that because of people like you, you will have to give birth to an unwanted child. You, sir, are not a woman and should not be part of this conversation. This should be between a woman and her doctor.
  • The government has the right to prevent one person from killing another. You're right though, abortion IS war.. against the most innocent and helpless of us all.
  • @RabidRahker says: The government has the right to prevent one person from killing another
    ~~~~~~~~~~~ yep, youre right sweetheart, and isnt it good a fetus isnt a person & dosent fall under that rule??hahahah.. keep tlaking so I can put your dumbass down!

  • @Sueezee1 Well, we finally agree that you're a slut. You must be proud.

    It's not "murder"? Call it what you like, how about a despicable act of selfishness?

  • @RabidRahker says: Call it what you like how about a despicable act of selfishness?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~ Sure, go for it....it will STILL be legal. You can even call it a slut and it will be a good thing. LMAO!
  • @RabidRahker says:It's not "murder"? Call it what you like
    ~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ok, I'll be like YOU & call everything what I want it to be. I'll call a house a tomatoe, a dog a tuna! Wow, thats fun to make up your own defintions. I see now why you do it. Do you think I can get by with calling a penny a 50 dollar bill, and have people believe it, like YOU want to do in saying abortion is murder, pr will I lokk like a total dumbass LIKE YOU DO?

  • @RabidRahker says: The government has the right to prevent one person from killing another

    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Why, hell yes it DOES.....arent you totally pissed that a fetus ISNT a  person that has the right NOT to be killed?
    Do you wnat to have babies???
  • Men, never be with a woman who's had a convenience abortion. If the life of an unborn means so little to her, she just might cut your throat in your sleep for the insurance money.
  • words of wisdom
  • @RabidRahker says: If the life of an unborn means so little to her, she just might cut your throat in your sleep for the insurance money
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\ Another frickin dumbass that equates an embryo with a man w. life ins. LOLO.. you idiots never cease to amaze me.

  • @Sueezee1 And you're a selfish murderer, who negates the rights of the unborn so you can be a slut.

  • Whoopi turns everything into race @1:08

  • Why are we still talking about this issue 36 years later? Choice is a "natural right", as the Founders would say. In other words, the Federal Government (or any other gov't) has NO right to legislate with regard to choice, civil rights, equality, individual liberty, gun rights, right to trial by jury, or any other "natural rights", because these belong to the People. They are given to us by our creator/nature/universe, and are off limits to ALL governments!

  • WORD.

  • Better still, let's revisit Roe and have it overturned as extremely bad law and put it back in the hands of the states.

    Or, how about total federal funding of PP with the proviso that the money goes for health care for women and for the option of adoption only, but not abortion.

    PP seems to want to funnel most of their money towards abortion. Let them take the moral high ground and support the woman in seeing her pregnancy through full term.

  • The concept of choice is the power and strength of Roe v. Wade. Putting it in the hands of the states does not provide equality for all people seeking an abortion. Abortion is not moral low ground and can be health care. It is a necessity for some. And it always will be.

    Planned Parenthood funnels its money through sex education, pregnancy and disease prevention, annual exams, std treatments, and abortions for those who seek it.

    Abortion isn't evil. Education, prevention and choice!

  • That is factually inaccurate. Planned Parenthood provides services to men and women that include:

    STD screenings for men and women

    Annual exams for Women

    Sexual Education for youth, and adults

    Birth Control, Plan B and Condoms

    Actually, a very small percentage of their funds go toward providing abortions. They provide a host of services to prevent abortions, AND To keep people knowledgable and healthy.

  • i like how he never said that he would put people on supreme court that would overturn it...the thing about it is roe v wade won't be revisited unless a new case comes up and makes it to the supreme court, i say leave the choice to the mother, and lets start educating kids about birth control...lets prevent, not say just don't do it

  • The embryo is not a life- it is a ball of tissue- so saying that abortion is murder is wrong. The mother, who is the one alive, has rights over the embryo-ball of tissue- in her uterus. The Ball of tissue is inside the mother and it is not alive,THAT IS WHY CHOOSING TO ABORT IS NOT MURDER. I am not saying abortion is right- but it is for sure a right of the mother. A ball of tissue should not have more say than someone alive.

  • Actually, it may be that way during the first week after it was concieved, but then it takes form of a human and eventually gets arms, fingers, and all the body parts of a human, and it even comes to express emotions and feelings. To say that it is just a ball of tissue is one of the most ignorant things one could say.

  • brain waves in feeling dont happen till the fetus was viable without the mother.

  • Okay:

    1. Abortion is wrong

    2. War is also wrong

    3. Just like innocent people are killed in war, innocent people are killed in Abortion.

    4. Sometimes , Abortion, like war ( is neccessary).

    5. Abortion & war are wrong, but there are times they are neccessary.

    6. The government should not have the right to decide when a female should have an abortion, unless you want to carry that baby, then stop saying abortion is wrong!

  • best comment about this issue

  • YES YES YES

    McCain was the TRUE leader for AMERICA

  • @Taekwondoisapassion The government has the right to prevent one person from killing another. You're right though, abortion IS war.. against the most innocent and helpless of us all.

  • @Taekwondoisapassion says: Abortion is wrong

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ahhhhhh, according to WHOM?
  • @Sueezee1 according to the majority of Americans.
  • @robertelee7 says: according to the majority of Americans.
    ~~~~~~~~ What are you talking about? Write in complete sentences please.

  • @Taekwondoisapassion Abortion is only necessary if the mother will die without it. It shouldn't be up to some teenage slut who made a "mistake" and doesn't want to take responsibility for it.

  • @robertelee7 says: dosent wnat to take responsibiltiy

    ~~~~~~~~ You're chald abuser!! Abortion IS being responsible. Having unwanted kids ISNT...even though YOU love seeing hated kids born.
  • @Sueezee1 Youasked according to whomAbortion is wrong.The majority of Americans believe its wrong.Ever heard of adoption?There are thousands of loving couples who can not have children but would love to adopt one.According to you I'm achild abuser because I'd rather see a child adopted into aloving family than to have its limbs ripped from its sockets! Its simple, if you dont want to have a child,use birth control or abstinence,but dont murder it.its not right for a child to die for your orgasm.
  • women deserve the right to choose for themselves what to do with their own body.
  • TRUTH ALERT!
    There's so much ignorance about abortion, if only people knew more. Its a wonder how so many people can form opinions on abortion when they don't know what it is. I know its a hot-button issue but people on both sides need to stop beings governed by their emotions and start deciding based on the facts. If everyone knew the facts on abortion the controversy would disappear. Nearly all of the questions about abortion have already been answered. Educate yourself, go to abort73(dot)com
  • Another fundie pro-life site-- Don't bother. Just more "Crisis Pregnacy" lies.
  • This is exactly what I don't understand. Republicans claim that Democrats are "communists" and "facists" when the Republicans are the actual ones who want to take your personal rights away. People ruling a country by religion creates a facist society. Abortion is a COMPLETELY personal choice. It is not up to the government to decide what someone is to do with their body! And overturing Roe VS. Wade will not keep people for aborting, it will only cause them to have to have to do it illegally.
  • theocracy is not necessarily equivolent with fascism, the european fascist governments were not theocracies
    roe vs wade is closer to fascism because it overly extends the power of the federal government, and it twists the constitution to define the unborn not as humans but as "property" (sound familiar to slavery?)
  • no it doesnt sound like slavery. what an idiotic comment.
  • learn history you skank
  • marie9218, it is clear that overturning Roe v. Wade will not keep people from aborting. But that does not mean that Roe v. Wade is a good decision, or that it should not be overturned. On the contrary, laws against rape do not always prevent rapists from committing rape, but this does not mean that rape should be legalized.
  • One part of Roe centered on fetal viability. Advances in medical technology since Roe mean that when Roe is revisited, it's possible that the period in which abortions are allowed could be moved much closer to the point of conception than is now the case. Ideally, Roe should be completely overturned and the issue left in the hands of the state, since Roe was basically a decision plucked from thin air.
  • Very well said, carnaco2. And you are so very right about Roe. Eventually it will be overturned -- it was a sloppy decision to begin with. It should go back to the states.
  • IT IS A WOMAN' S CHOICE!!! That was the original intention, and remains so. Yes, know the facts. But the states don't have the right. The federal gov't doesn't have the right. A woman has the right. And she has always excercised it which is why roe v. wade was legalized, because they were tired of girls and women bleeding to death doing abortions with coat hangers. Look it up.
  • See, I could never get tired of girls and women bleeding to death doing abortions with coat hangers, which is why I think they should overturn Roe v. Wade.
  • I actually am a real life conservative black woman. Oooooh! Scary huh! Need proof? Check out my video on YouTube "Children Are Not Choices." Democrats can't stand a black person that escapes their mental fences. Abortions due to rape and incest account for less than 1% of the abortions in this nation. Get your fact straight! Are some of you suggesting that the WAY we enter this world determines whether we are fit to live? Or is it who are parents are that make us worthy or unworthy of life?
  • McCain knows that hes talking about when it comes to abortion.
  • elizabeth you are sooo fucking gullable. you want the republican party bullshit to work do bad but it wont the american people are so fucking fed up with your partys devisible tactics. get a fucking life. go somewhere and get fukkked.
  • Jane Roe later regretted her baby killing and became pro-life.
    This world is haunted by the souls of the unborn dead
  • and one more thing- Whoopi, from one black woman to another, your comment 'are you going to be a slave again' was beyond ignorant! John McCain would have been fighting to end slavery like he's fighting to end abortion now. A woman of your age should have enough wisdom by now to see that! You and people who can't see that an unborn child deserves the same rights as a born child would have been the same people sitting on the sidelines during this country's slave days! What a disgrace!
  • I wish upon you to be raped by your father and see if you decide to carry a deformed baby to term.
  • i bet you are not a woman atall, you are an old bible thumping fraud,
  • Amen to that...it is encouraging to hear a black woman talking so passionately against abortion, as it seems there is a majority who favor it and can't see that taking abortion rights away is not akin to slavery, rather abortion itself is akin to slavery...Either way the stealing of someone's life!!!
  • I'd like the women of the view to show the viewers what an abortion looks like- what an aborted baby looks like and then tell us why they are pro choice. Look at the effects of Roe v. Wade- 47 million bloodied babies later, Roe v. Wade WAS a BAD DECISION.
  • That's exactly how political decisions should be made, out of pure emotion. Let's also look at people killed in war and decide that war is never justified because it's icky.
  • Abortion is not a decision that a mother would take lightly. It is physically & mentally traumatic for her to rip out a part of her. So, if a woman does seek abortion, she has a very good reason for it. Men force themselves on women with unprotected sex, & then expect the woman & the child to pay the price. Women must be empowered in this decision & also to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Doesn't the child have the right NOT to be born unwanted & unloved & lead a life of poverty, misery & crime?
  • Read "Freakonomics" by Stephen Levitt to understand the importance of Roe vs Wade.
    After abortion was legalized, crime rate across the US dropped dramatically. Abortion led to preventing birth of children who would otherwise have grown up into murderers & criminals because of their situation & upbringing. As Levitt points out, women seeking abortion usually have a very good reason. Rather than stop abortion, empower women to take control & prevent unwanted conception.
    !!!READ THE BOOK!!!
  • slam this tight lil ass =]?
    ZI do!! msg me on M.S.N. nfo in profile. bi
  • Yay John McCain!!!!! I just don't get why "The View" has so many viewers, Roe V Wade was an awful decision. Today we boast more deaths in abortion than all the wars put together. Shame on those "women" on the view, as well as anyone else that thinks killing the unborn is a "right". Unbelievable.
  • "he didn't wear his American flag pin, he is un-American"
    ha, ha, echo036. Not only that, but his running mate wanted Alaska to secede from the rest of the U.S. That makes her un-American, which makes him un-American by association!
  • what??????????
  • Ugh McCain and his Republicans make me sick! A woman should have the right to do as she wants with her body and her fetus - which she has to carry and give birth to, btw - as long as that fetus is not viable = exactly as stated by the Roe v. Wade decision. Who the hell is McCain (or even the govt) to into women's lives and tell them what they can or cannot do with their bodies?
    So much for human rights and gender equality.
  • the most basic human right=LIFE
  • what about rights for UNborn women? what do you mean by viable? read a biology book and listen to scientists/geneticists and you'll see that at conception there is another human life.
  • Obviously you can't have read a biology book because if you did you would know that the fetus doesn't become a zygote for while. And if you don't know what a zygote it, revisit gr11 bio.
    As for the rights of the unborn vs. the mother, unless you're a woman who has gone through labour and/or had to make the decision of having an abortion, I wouldn't be talking. There's a whole emotional side to this that people like you ignore. That, & people's constitutional right to mind their own business.
  • The Official Senate report on Senate Bill 158, the "Human Life Bill," summarized the issue (of when life begins) this way:
    "Physicians, biologists, and other scientists agree that conception marks the beginning of the life of a human being—a being that is alive and is a member of the human species. There is overwhelming agreement on this point in countless medical, biological, and scientific writings." And actually, the "zygote" stage comes well before the "fetus" stage.
  • DannyandSam4EVER are gay! so why the fuck should any woman in this country listen to you? It is not your choice, let WOMEN decide.
  • I'm all for not pushing my opinions on others... but when innocent lives are in the balance, I don't believe there's room for doubt that it is wrong. And I believe any thinking being with ANY measure of compassion would agree.
  • I'm very proud to have this man as my party's candidate. A shining light for life. So much death, darkness. But he has the guts to say "No! Thus far, no further!" Like the French to Hitler, like the Doctor to the Daleks. John McCain, you make me proud. God bless you.
  • he didn't wear his American flag pin, he is un-American.
  • hahaha poor john
    i would be so terrified
  • "no significant legal barriers of any kind whatsoever exist today in the United States for a woman to obtain an abortion for any reason during any stage of her pregnancy." This is what the supreme court says. Any stage??? This is preposterous!! Women regularly have abortions following the 3rd trimester. That is unacceptable. tell me that it is acceptable and I will tell you how wrong it is. I don't disagree with a woman's right to choose but, when a child is developing and in the womb...
  • The government has outlawed partial birth abortions, or abortions in the third trimester. And what follows the third trimester is birth, so I'm pretty sure they couldn't abort at that point. Chill out.
  • Everyone should see this. It is beyond outrageous that this 'Honeymooners' mentality should still exist in 2008.
    If the USA is a country of freedom and liberty, there is no good argument for this man being elected to run it.
  • Maybe someone can explain this: A girl has my child and I refuse to take responsibility for the child I helped make consciously, why I am a deadbeat who they could garnish my check/revoke my license for when a woman who negates her same responsibility to a child she helped make is only exercising her "rights." Why does the man only have to take responsibility. Explain that to me and then get to this bullshit about gender equality.
  • America is about having options.
    Pro Choice Forever !!!
    I wonder if McCain and Palin are against Stem Cell Research.
    If Stem Cell Research cured Erectile Dysfunction (someday It may), McCain would support it in a heart beat.
    If it cured Downes Syndrome, Palin would support it.
  • If some woman is even considering having an abortion than that child should be spared the pain of growing up unwanted. Besides the world is overpopulated anyhow. You get all sentimental about killing seeds, but then you don't care about sending troops off to war to kill innocent civilians. Get over it, concentrate on yourself and let others make their own decisions!!
  • Exactly, you took the words right out of my mouth.
  • "Roe and the decisions reaffirming it are equal in their audacity and abuse of judicial office to Dred Scott v. Sanford. Just as Dred Scott forced a southern pro-slavery position on the nation, Roe is nothing more than the Supreme Court's imposition on us of the morality of our cultural elites." Robert Bork
  • Norma McCorvey"Roe" of Roe vs. Wade has even changed her mind about abortion and crusades against it! Are any of you pro-choicers even aware of that? SHE even wants it overturned. It's been made public that the case was based on lies that she told. Look it up.
  • She may have changed her mind; the constitutionality of Roe V Wade still stands. So maybe you should provoke an interest into the treaty of tripoli/and the constitution.
  • Great, I feel very sorry for the all rape & incest victims if this turdburglar gets elected. What an insensitive ol' bastard! It is not a man's choice, especially a frickin' politician!
  • HAHAHA...I love the fact that McCain interprets the Constitution the right way.
    Did anyone catch Whoopi's comment on slavery? You're free Whoopi! Don't live in the past!
  • If you were listening at all she was responding to McCain's comment on how the constitution should be strictly interpreted. Blacks were legally considered 3/5 a person. Slavery was supported under the original constitution. Hence, revisions through follow-up amendments. Whoppi was making the point that throughout history, the constitution needed to change to fit modern times. McCain knew he was wrong; thats why he told her "very good point, Whoopi".
  • so would you like her to forget slavery
  • HAHAHA..has a democrat i'm loving this........Buh-bye McCain!
  • dude, McCain doesn't know the Constitution. this is getting scary
  • He admits that he intends to change The Constitution and overturn Roe V Wade. Wake up, America!
  • You know what is scary besides being devour by the The View ladies : Nancy Pelosi with out make-up
    The View girls looked like VULTURES circling the prey.
  • "Even though you have my vote.."
    Here was when I stopped watching.
  • McCain is such a lying tool. We can't let these scumbags have another 4 years to destroy our country. Register to vote today. Obama/Biden '08.
  • Is it possible for two people to have starkly different outlooks on life than McCain and Obama? McCain is unhappy, mean and pessimistic. Obama seems happy with life, his wife and daughters and is optimistic at a level I could only wish to achieve.
  • McCain's combover is getting thinner and thinner.
  • The redhead is attractive. Also, as John turns his torso and body, he looks like he has a steel pipe in his back: very, very stiff.
  • This is because he was severely beaten as a POW and has very limited mobility.
  • At 1:07 Whoopi asks "am I gonna have to worry about being a slave again?," but Barbra's voice slightly muffles it. Is anyone else disturbed that this question went ignored?
    I'm worried, Whoopi! If McCain is overturning Roe Vs Wade, why not overturn the ban on slavery? This guy is insane.
  • Whoopi was a slave? I was not aware of that. I thought she was always the awesome celebrity she is now.
  • If you were listening at all she was responding to McCain's comment on how the constitution should be strictly interpreted. Blacks were legally considered 3/5 a person. Slavery was supported under the original constitution. Hence, revisions through follow-up amendments. Whoppi was making the point that throughout history, the constitution needed to change to fit modern times. McCain knew he was wrong; thats why he told her "very good point, Whoopi".
  • Yes, good point and also at the time of the Constitution ladies and gentlemen of the jury, ONLY WHITE LAND OWNING MALES had the right to vote or make any decisions. Shall we return to the point? I don't think so.
  • Not killing a healthy unborn for convenience is just like slavery? wow
  • Yes it is, LadyAmaltheaUnicorn. Forced pregnancy is slavery.
  • Just like having to raise your kids, pay your bills and get a job is slavery?
  • LadyAmaltheaUnicorn, who exactly is that statement for? How desperately ill-informed and uneducated are you? Before he became Goevrnor of Texas, way past the age of 40, George Bush never had a real job. No one is equating "getting a job" with slavery. If in doubt, the right winger always resorts to racism, never knowledge or truth.
  • Forced pregnancy is slavery?! Where do you people come from?! Have you ever heard of birth control? No one is forcing women to get pregnant. Choice should not involve the murder of an innocent life. Women need to either keep their legs closed or use birth control. It's called responsibility...
  • If you were listening at all she was responding to McCain's comment on how the constitution should be strictly interpreted. Blacks were legally considered 3/5 a person. Slavery was supported under the original constitution. Hence, revisions through follow-up amendments. Whoppi was making the point that throughout history, the constitution needed to change to fit modern times. McCain knew he was wrong; thats why he told her "very good point, Whoopi".
  • It isn't a choice if you are raped. And you can't just make the law really strict or it's the start of taking the complete legality of it. Many women will die in that case just like they did years ago from illegal abortions that will be performed. Also, birth control sucks. Condoms are better. At least then you are a little protected from a disease and don't have crap messing with your hormones.
  • When I brought up birth control, I wasn't just refering to the pill. There are other methods.
  • No, where do you come from? Forced pregnancy is slavery -- no two ways about that. Choice should include abortion. Without abortion, women are NEVER free.
  • You right, because the only way women get pregnant is if they have consensual sex right? Please he does not have the first clue about what the american public needs 70% of the american public is pro abortion. Because girls were doing it themselves and irrevocably hurting or killing themseves. What would you suggest we do with the sudden surplus of unwanted babies?  This fundementalist does not think anything through. he is so out of touch its a freakin joke.
  • ShutterbugF,Of course I realize some pregnancies are the result of rape but the majority of them aren't.Too many women use abortion as a form of birth control.If you people saw the actual process of an abortion,I'm sure many of you would change your minds, it's brutal murder. And your comment about "surplus of unwanted babies",they're human beings not objects.God honors a nation who honors life. P.S. Your mama was pro-life...
  • Propaganda again????
  • My mom's pro-choice and she had me. If she didn't feel like she didn't have the stable household enviornment to properly raise me I would have been aborted too. The "unwanted babies" is the reason why ppl get abortions. Would you rather they give birth to babies they don't want? Can you even imagine how it would feel to a child to know that he or she was unwanted? Why put them through a lifetime of that kind of pain? You need to take everything in consideration when talking about abortion.
  • Starplaya09,have you ever heard of adoption?
  • I disagree. I'm pro-choice and my mother recently revealed to me she was for a while thinking of aborting me because she was quite fragile and ill when I was conceived.Her telling me this simply increased my respect level for her. It didn't make me hate her.
    I think the problem is that people label everyone "pro-choice" and "pro life". Pro-lifers can still be for choice. And vice versa.
  • I think that Roe V Wade should NOT be overturned but I still think that abortion as a form of contraceptive or abortion after 24 weeks(which is quite dangerous) should not be allowed. I think abortion DOES need to be regulated...but definately not restricted.
    C'mon. We're in 2008! Women should have the RIGHT to CHOOSE! I don't NEED a 73 yr old conservative, christian white man telling me that if I wanted to abort I'm committing a "sin". .
  • Hi. I'm a 17 yr old Indian who thinks abortion IS a choice that should be allowed.
    Let me clarify my stance on abortion. I would not personally have an abortion HOWEVER I believe that our legal system should allow people to have access to abortion if it is necessary. THAT'S why I'm personally and morally against abortion (if you can have a child financially and emotionally then I think you should) but I don't think others should judge those who do have abortion.
    P.S I've read Norma's book.
  • "I think the problem is that people label everyone "pro-choice" and "pro life". Pro-lifers can still be for choice. And vice versa."
    Logical fallacy. Can someone be against infanticide but still support mothers' rights to terminate their newborns?
  • I'm sorry, but you can't ride the fence on this one. You either are for life or not. Even Obama believes that if an aborted baby happens to live through an abortion, it should be left to die. You need to thank and praise your mother over and over again for giving you life. Remember, what you call choice leads to death, not freedom.
  • I've read her first book and I was inspired and really amazed by what she did...until I found out she later jumped on her position where I just lost respect for her.
    I'm not trying to be rude but just because I'm 17 and pro-choice(I look it thinking if MY friend was raped/got pregnant at 17 and wasn't ready to physically have a child) does not mean I don't know what happened in Roe V Wade nor does it mean I'm wishy washy about this. I'm very pro-choice.
  • It is not pro abortion to correct you it is pro choice.
    The proposal McSame is making along with Palin is 15th Century Solutions in the 21st Century!
    The fundamentalist doesn't think for themselves they are similar to the borg in Star Trek.
  • Birth control sometimes fails- And woman get raped and molested. Learn about the real world.
  • Absolutely!
  • If you were listening at all she was responding to McCain's comment on how the constitution should be strictly interpreted. Blacks were legally considered 3/5 a person. Slavery was supported under the original constitution. Hence, revisions through follow-up amendments. Whoppi was making the point that throughout history, the constitution needed to change to fit modern times. McCain knew he was wrong; thats why he told her "very good point, Whoopi".
  • I was 15 when a family "friend" stop raping my cousin and I. I would have seriously killed myself, if I was forced to give birth. The decision to move forward w/ a termination haunts women forever and DOES NOT COME CASUALLY.
    Dr. L. Dun
  • McCain said that if Roe was over turned the States would then decide
    BS! California legalized medical pot; but the FED arrested their patients!
    The FED would NOT allow States to decide for themselves because the Huge Central Government of the USA has eaten up all human rights
  • y else would he pick an unvetted, unexperienced running mate.
    I got to admit it was a hell of a chess move , to capitalize on Hilary's pissed of followers.
  • This man scares me to death.
  • I give McCain mega props for sticking to his guns about roe v wade on an all women talk show. I think this shows strength and integrity. He speaks the truth on all his beliefs and does not stutter around trying to think up an answer that the people want to here. If 23 states do not want roe v wade why should they have to allow it. Is it not the beliefs of the democratic party that everyone should be able to make their own decisions?? Or is that only implyed if you are in agreement with them??
  • Pro Choice does not equal pro abortion. If you don't want to have, or don't believe in abortion, then you simply don't have one. You also have the right to education others as to your beliefs. This is different than making abortions illegal to those who do not agree with your views.
  • i agree i do not believe that views should be pushed on anyone or religiouse beliefs it should always remain a choice. i am proud that McCain stuck to his beliefs even when being confronted by the most over the top women in america!
  • I love how the audience grilled him when he started talking about the *Strict Interpretation" of the Constitution lol. I would have hate to been in that seat he was in lol
