  • I used to hate this movie cause it felt like a bunch of cutscenes strung together and mande no sense but then I watched the complete version and have a newfound respect for the movie, it truely was a masterpiece, a must watch, especially after beating FFVII

  • I would suggest a little more precise translation: Why do we cling from womb? Why do we give pain to a little heart? The star doesn't forgive us, doesn't forgive us The veins' pulsations flow into the earth, into the earth Little, little pulsations They lead the heart to death A tender life reconciles with the star Is it necessary to sacrifice a soul? Why do we cling from womb? Why do we beg for forgiveness? In the promised land? (in should be "In the fatal land" or something like that)
  • @bowenstrife Ps: Let's not make this a religious debate please. This is a beautiful video that I would not like to have ruined by me arguing with another person.

  • @BaltoHusky345 It is also written so in the bible aswell. I find that men will only take what they can use for their own advantage from holy writings and then use their holy books as a way to protect themselves from persecution. This has happened to many religions in the past. And even now, it still happens.

  • Now everytime i come to youtube, this is the first thing i will watch...

  • @awsomeyoshi2 it actually has nothing to do with Anima from FFX. Anima itself means soul so, that could be why they named Anima in FFX Anima.

  • This song points out the exact thing that the Quran says, which would be to not oppress people, and here you have Muslim leaders oppressing people. Why is that even a choice to make? Don't they know better?

  • True beauty is the human voice.

  • This song is eerily appropriate for that movie.

  • Gives ya chills ...

  • Were can i download this????

  • @360TheNorton Its called Google. Use it.

  • i luv songs that are in a different language. normally i'm this heavy metal, screamo, psyco path, but this song even though sad gives me a sense of peace and calm... it makes me actually feel something besides anger and hatred. it makes me feel human

  • this song gets even sadder when you start to think about our own world, and how the sorrow has claimed so many.

  • Sephiroth wasn´t really evil...and Kadaj either

They just wanted to be with mother...

  • ....this song was always beautiful, even when I didn't understand it...

Now, it strikes me to my core....

  • what language is this?

  • @MrIGAQ latin.

  • It ends on a IV chord... Why.! but other than that this song is yummy<3

  • @ShelbyDucote

That's part of the beauty... it isn't resolved... kind of like the whole premise of the beginning of Advent Children:

    ^.^

  • 5 people didn't make it to the Promised Land when they died.

  • 1:55

OH MY GOD ANIMA! (Final Fantasy X reference)

  • Please make Kadaj come back , I don't know how but please T-T

I like to listen to this song under the rain...

  • I so want this played at my funeral :D

  • Omg....I still get goosebumps. <3 <3 LOVE this video. (:

  • it is deep and moving but why does it seem to make me hyper... yeowwwwwwww

  • thanx for uploading this. i love you x peace

  • this reminds me of something from Avatar...

  • This is my jammmmm!!! <3

  • this song i listen to all the time. the sound is very rich and the lyrics hav deep meaning. Kadaj, Sephiroth are my fav FF characters. it sucks the awseom characters hav to die

  • Kadaj is dead :(

  • @AskMazam ikr why one of the good characters. when i watched that movie i just had to replay that scene. so epic and sad

  • What's the promised land that Sephiroth won't stop mentionning?

  • ♥ this song forever

  • Sad thing its all mispronounced:( but beautiful anyway

  • I know im not the only one who wrote this, but thumbs up if you want this as your funeral song? `SNIFF`

  • i thought this was pretty right on i mean some parts didnt make sense to me but then again im unsure how this particular language works so io say good job bro may YOU find the promised land causse it certainly isnt america xD

  • Love it...

  • This song is so beautiful, and when I hear it sorta makes me sad. Also does anyone one know where I can get this song, I've looked on a couple places but can find it. Thanks.

  • I love this part with Marlene. Too bad her voice is different in Complete... It's not as sad.

  • @Inedrief i know i hate it too but its still sad though...yeah i though most of the voices were pretty crappy but oh well, still a great movie and amazing series. i love complete. its so.....well, COMPLETE!

  • Oops, a few typos. That's supposed to be "cordi." "Stella" is singular, so just "(a/the) star," and again with "stellam." It's accusative, but still singular.

"Animam" is also singular. All the verbs in that line are present tense; a closer translation would be "is it necessary to sacrifice (the/your) soul?"

"Fatali" is genitive and therefore means "of fate." So "in terram fatali" roughly means "into the land/earth of fate."

I don't intend to be rude, I'm just trying to provide accuracy.

  • I don't speak a word of latin, but thanks for the info. I didn't translate this, you see, so I have no idea how accurate this translation is.

  • -nod- Like I said, I don't want to sound rude, or be like "oh you suck."

I'm not perfect myself, as I'm still learning. I didn't know exactly how that line "Stella nobis non concessit" worked until fairly recently; the grammar is a smidge different than the conventional method that I learned, so.

But hey, I'm glad you took it a lot better than some other people do when I point out things like that. ^ ^

  • I hear you, man. People are WAY too sensitive now-a-days, that's why I stopped giving critiques to strangers on Deviant Art. Hell, even if the artist took it well and THANKED ME, I still had freakin' necroposting trolls hownding me day and night.

    Its quite tiresome.

  • @OhMyGaignun I agree with this statement. People have to understand that negative critiques can make you a better artist.

  • @SeishinNoIro How good is your Latin? I want to be able to improve mine (I'm learning it in high school) and I'm going into second year Latin so a good Latin coach would really help!

  • @SeishinNoIro well i dont really get latin so i cant really comment on 99% of this stuff, but with "in terram fatali", yeah, it means "in the land of fate", but the english title is based on the japanese title made by the original composer, so yeah. :)

  • I understand that, but that doesn't mean alter the meaning of the Latin words so that they coincide with the Japanese title.

They're extraneously different langauges. Such things are going to occur.

  • i guess so.

  • Why cant u guys just appreciate him by doing this

  • What exactly did he do?

  • @SeishinNoIro you could expect the "stella" issue if the lyricist was japanese. i know japanese to a little extent, and in japanese, a singular word can be used as an indefinite plural as well. so if there's any mistranslations, talk to the lyricist, the person who took a care to put this up is faultless :)

  • My teacher told me that "parvus, parvus pulsus" is actually wrong. "Parvus" means "little", but it's meant to be used for people. The correct form would be (I think) "pequenis"(?).

  • I don't know about anyone else but everytime I hear this song I want to cry. I'm trying to convince my choir to sing it

  • Good luck with that!

  • The first time I saw the beginning of Advent Children, the part from 1:20 - 1:38 made my heart skip a beat. . . .

  • This song, and most music by Nobuo Uemastu is just so. . . emotional. . . The music is beautiful in of itself, but coupled with an excellent story. . .

  • feels like im on the funeral of ppl i know......

    its so sad

  • The notion of sacrifice and seeking forgiveness. . . there are many translations both literal and poetic, but this one is by far my favorite. . .

  • I love this song its so beautiful

I love said songs you should check out one-winged angel it is a very beautiful piece.

  • beautiful piece, yes, i do agree. but dont you think its too... jumpy of a piece to be called "beautiful"?

    i'd call it "stirring"

    :)

  • who's the composer of this piece, may i ask? cant be stuffed to search =.=

  • Nobuo Uematsu

    genius among videogame music composers

  • Genius among composers, period. . .

  • Yeah, I guess that's right, why should he be categorized like that.

It's not like music for games/music is different from the rest.

And yeah, the intro to AC(C) is amazing, Marlene's voice when coupled with the music creates a touching atmosphere.

  • stupid question but is this even in japanese?

  • ............ its latin...

  • thanks sarcastic person

  • wait you actually thought this was japanese?

    whoa...

i thought you were just being sarcastic

  • I don't think that was sarcasm. The song *is* in Latin. :\

  • lol its not sarcasm at all. it just feels awkward that i even said it hahaha

  • no I didn't think it was that's why I asked. Thanks for your response though.

  • brings peace to my mind

  • Aww...the lyrics make the song even sadder...KADAJ...v.v

  • i know... omg....so sad T^T

  • Wow! That's so beautiful! thanks for putting it together. Having sung in a cathedral choir for gosh a long time, this really touched my heart. I knew it was latin from the moment I heard it.

  • This is most likely latin because of "stellar" meaning stars, and if you pay attention most ff games does have latin features to it

  • this is a sad song even if you didnt know the lyrics

  • yeah.... the 1st time when i watched final fantasy vii advent children, i heard this n almost cried T.T...

    its so sad..

  • @hanzoraqib me too!! i love advent children! marlene's intro was so sad i cried! i cry everytime i watch it. especially when they show cloud putting aerith into the life stream. so sad....zack+aerith= <3 LOVE! i hate it that the 2 best characters (in my opinion, they're my favorites!) died. why is it that everything good and awesome has to be so short. just like roxas in kingdom hearts. i love you roxas!

  • Such a beautiful song. One of my favorite FFVII songs.

  • Same .... has you ever played the game, I beat it and I love it ff8 and ff10 are O.K. ttoo

  • Yeah, I played FVII. I also played FFX, but it wasn't even half as good as VII. I think it's my favorite game. The storyline is awesome and Sephiroth is uber 1337.

  • Great it's one of mine too. The story is sad yet adveturuois. This song brings out whats sad in the game and brings back memerys.

  • the "stella" there in the lyrics could also be referred to as the "planet"....ryt??

  • 1:47 you spelled returns wrong and ii just noticed that too.

  • sort of reminds me of lilum... from elfin lied.....

  • sorta... both are beautiful though

  • Original song's language is latin

  • This translation seems closest to the story line of FF7 compared to the others out there

  • I agree with you Taxman. It must be a lament for Aerith.

  • I think this song refers to the life stream and Aerith's death. Maybe a lament.

  • Beautiful, and yet sad at the same time.

  • The singing is really sad....

  • what is the language of the song?

  • I cant tell, a gut feeling tells me its Latin.

  • rofl sarcasm? Cause you did upload the vid xD

  • Actually, its not sarcasm, I honestly can't give a 100% gaurentee what language this is. I simply synced the song with a premade translation. Thats all.

  • ahah lol well yes, it is latin :P

  • Nice, thank you! ^^
