  • D0BLE ESSE I LA FM 95 PONIAN ESTTA CANZZIONNE MOITTO BELLISSIMA EN 1983 BELLISSIMA MEMORIAS!!!

  • Looking at the top of the page. Live, President Obama's State of the union speech. HAAAAA! That's why I picked this song! That's all he ever does. Promises and point's the finger!

  • @ILuvBritLouTayTay you got good taste my dear

  • I think the US version is better in general, not that there is much difference, I like the intro a lot more too

  • UK version has better voice

    US version has better guitar

Put that together and you get an awesome-er song!

  • Great sound quality on this video for such a great song! Love the guitar licks on the US version.

  • the 80s i love it!

  • Never about this song is cool as hell, & really has meaning. I've experienced promises, promises.

  • SIK

  • This song is the best ... well I love every 80s song lololol ... ITS ALL THE BEST! !!!! :)

  • classic!

  • What a great intro of the bass, deep real edge funk.

  • Bass is boss on this song.....

  • why do I think theres another band today that can come up with simple jambs? I guess I'm stupid, or the bands today suck?.... Johan the Bach-Sorensen

  • @bachadaboy

You're not stupid. Bands today, just SUCK!

  • Just in time for "The Rapture"!

  • The whole album is a synthpop masterpiece and highly underrated.

  • This rythm is so damn good. For a couple of Brits it's down right R&B. Wish someone would "sample" this.

  • @Diamonddusted68 - Back in the day, they use to mix this song with 'Good Times'... that chucky sounding guitar riff at the beginning and during the bridges of this song are pretty much duplicatons of the guitar portions from 'Good Times'

  • @redlegone Wow never knew. I baught their 45" as a teen and never heard anything else.

  • That's what I call REAL MUSIC! I mean B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L MUSIC !!! We all love the 80's & 90's music !!! Yes, indeed!

  • @ILuvBritLouTayTay its good to see young ones enjoying great music besides rap these days:)

  • I love this....really dreamy.....sexy as hell.....love every second.....thanks!

  • which one is which?

  • i jus love thist this song is haunting beautiful one ofthe best, the best california to georgia the 80's are best.

  • Tears are welling up in my eyes. This tune brings back so many memories. Vintage 80's. I remember this playing on MTV in 1983. Naked Eyes was part of that New Wave British invasion of the late 70's early 80's. This was before electronic and digital voices and music took over the industry. When real istruments were still played. Oh God can I take a trip back to the 80's. Long live the 80's. Music just aint what it use to be. SIGH!!

  • Timeless classic! The production on this is pure ecstacy.

  • @pmsan29 do u like love the guitar intro "jelly bean benitez" cadence or what !??? and then when the guitar kicks in they do the tambourine layered on top of it the volume on the tambourine track ever so slightly behind the guitar

  • @jjdd7442 correction when the solo guitar kicks in after the rhythm guitar within the intro . but seriously the rhythm tambourine is really whats alot of the magic the guitar/s are stupendously great too the sublte sngle tones when the guitar goes solo man i float away on that

  • This IS the definitive 80's tune for n8tureboy!

Love it, love it, love it!

  • @n8tureboy ~ I Love it too ~ "The EYES" have it !!

  • @82sweetheart

The "Eyes" are the window to the soul.

  • @n8tureboy ~ They are indeed !! If the eyes are the window to the soul, then the smile is the invitation ; )

  • @82sweetheart

    Well said.

  • This is one track that keeps its promise. IT IS SOOOO GOOOOD!

  • This song is so good.

  • i like the 2nd one (starts at 3:46) more cuz of the intro and it sounds more original

  • goose bumps, I love this song.I could listen to it over and over and never get tired.Good song to listen to while....... ; )

  • UK version!!!

  • Both versions are delicious.

  • Anyone else think the lead guitar in this song sounds a lot like the lead guitar on the song 'Good Times'?

  • @redlegone

Yes, it does. Sounds good too. And all this time I thought I was the only one who caught it. Good work, my friend.

Killer music especially with the DX7 sounds giving it that creepy and disturbing other wordly sounds. I love it. For those of you that dont know, The DX7 is a keyboard from Yamaha and was super popular the world over. It defined the 80's and it was almost on every hit song.

  • @redlegone exactly right all the hip DJs would mix in/out of those two 12" sides check out nile rodgers (chic) LP land of the good groove for more

  • This was one of my favorite 80s tracks that wasn't done by Michael Jackson. I like the US version better, although the UK version isn't so bad. The US version is a song I like to hear in the middle of the night, while looking out from the balcony of my apartment in Miami and seeing all the nightlights shining and kicking back with either Belvedere or potato vodka and OJ or a whiskey sour. Kind has a sexy sound to it, especially with the guitars and keyboards.

  • my perfect 80's late night song...

  • that beat in the beggining of the song is so catchy i love it!

  • Naked Eyes were vastly under rated,as were many other 80's groups and artists.Great song,I love their other songs "Always Something There to Remind Me" and "What is Love".

  • Aids, STD's, serial killers and rapists, drunk drivers, Crack, un-shaved pubic hair--I miss those days too.

  • One of My Favorite 80's Bands. It's to bad I never got to see them in their Hey Day and when Rob Fisher The Keyboard Player was alive.

  • UK wins !!!!!

  • I totally love this song.....really smooth, sexy stuff......and I think the UK version sounds a little better than the US......

  • OK, the UK version is much much better. :)

  • I love this song, one of the best of the 80's

  • Still an amazing song. Bass and rhythms are awesome.

  • the first version is the best.

  • This song truly exemplifies the power of music. It takes me back almost 30 years and I can remember almost everything that happened during that time. To me it's youth, innocence, staying out late and playing hide and seek, my first kiss. It's one of those songs where you call the radio station 500 times just to hear it once

  • No doubt! Naked eyes were the best ever 80's-pop-band!

  • @patcharisma I don't know if I would put them ahead of The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Talk Talk...but they wrote some great songs.

  • Kingsborough Community College Fall-1983 Brooklyn NY..........memories.

  • cool vibe

  • tea is a british thing, dare I say worshipped unlike here.they probaly thought the impact of the joke we would just not get...that is my opinion anyway....hope that helped.

  • I agree the UK version is way better. Why did they even edit that "cup of tea" line out of the US version???

  • uk version is much better ..there is vocal harmonies in the choruses, nice guitar solo and of course the "cup of tea" line.classic

  • This song was played when Y-107 did 80s flashbacks back in the mid-90s. Before that, it was only played briefly in the early 80s.

  • The extended play version is too dry. Not enough echo or reverb to smooth it out. Also missing is the audio exciter like Aphex. It really added a lot of punch especially when played in a car stereo.

My car has a BBE processor that really adds kick to otherwise lifeless music.

BBE = Barcus Berry Electronics. Good stuff. Also make musical instrument equipment too.

  • thank you SOOO much!

  • this song is fucking legendary!!!!

  • Thanks for uploading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Got it!... thanks for the help!

  • I would like to buy this song version but I do not know how ...I looked in I tunes and the version of the song is a guitar version...does anyone has an idea?

  • Try Rhapsody

  • lime wire

  • This is a good example of something I noticed about radio in the U.S. The actual songs that were played during the 1980's are somewhat different than what are played on the "oldies" or "hits of the '80s" stations. For example, this song was played all the time in Chicago. A major song from my childhood. And I had completely forgotten about it until I found the record. I hadn't heard this song for possibly 20 years. Brought back instant memories. I want the real '80s, not "the Best of"

  • Madonna sings back ground vocals on the 12 inch version. Saw that on wikipedia.

  • the last time i heard this songwas 21 years ago!! 1 of my fave 80's band. thanks for posting!!!

  • OMG! I thought I would never hear this song again! I've died and gone to shoulder pad heaven! Thanks zimy0!!

  • Wasn't there a version of this song that had the line "not your style, your cup of tea" in lieu of "if this is love it breaks my heart"?

  • Makes me think of a pretty blonde from high school! Evans High back in the '80s!

  • GREAT TUNE

  • Thanks for the post Zimy0! 5 star rating.

  • Song remins me of spinning the hits on WCBA 1350AM Corning,New York, Fall 1983. Music today can not what so ever touch the music of the 70's and 80's. Crap Music today is 'the worst trash' since man has walked the planet!!!!

  • I'm part of this 80's music culture. Love it!

  • Isn't the 2nd version the remix off the 12" vinyl? Check out Naked Eyes music on myspace for the demo version.

  • I believe the second version is the UK 12" mix of "Promises Promises". A different remix of this song was issued as a promo only 12" single in the US.

  • These guys (along with The Fixx; Level 42; & Oingo Boingo) were one of the most underrated bands of the 80s!

  • @freakshowcrow

They most certainly were underrated! Well said, along with the Fixx and a whole slew of other great bands. Man the 80's were chock-full of awesome tunes! I miss that decade...wish I could go back for a visit-SIGH-!

  • @freakshowcrow I agree 100 %. = )

  • I have great memories of this tune! Both versions were played on WLIR in New York when I was in college. Naked Eyes had a terrific sound. Their music stands the test of time. Is there a video available of "When the Lights Go Down"?

  • Thank U for this posting! LOve it!
