It freaks me out when there are those who say that a performance, be it comedy or drama, is from decades of the past, suggesting that it is out of date. Rowan Atkinson's performances are timeless, and I say again, thank God for You Tube!
He's an amazing artist.. His physical comedy and his timing is impeccable. Yes, I have seen Blackadder. I think it's the stupidest and boringest British comedy EVER! And largely because of Rowan. I love other British comedies: Only fools and horses, The Brittas empire, The office, etc. Many are great and I love watching them. But Blackadder? Boooorrriiiinnnggg (and stupid!)!
Rowan simply doesn't know how to act. He exaggerates too much in his acting. Though of course it's also the fault of the script, which is too boring to be acted well.

I think Mr. Bean is very boring indeed. He has ONE idea and goes on for 20 minutes with it, repeating it 20 times. Very sad really. No comparison with Charlie Chaplin, who was a genius!

I, personally, don't think he is exaggerating. I'd rather say that this kind of sketch does require some exaggeration every now and then, otherwise it wouldn't be funny. For example when it's said "don't overdue it", he has to overdue it to make it funny. That's my idea.
