All religions skew God from the absolute truth of who he really is. God cannot be accurately described or contained in words or books, so be a little gracious toward those who don't believe exactly as you do.
@hughharman I agree that we should always be gracious, to all people. With that said, I think those who truly study the Bible are fully aware that God is not limited to the text in HIs book, that is clearly demonstrated in scripture itself. In fact, the name for God in scripture is The Word. As Christians, we understand the Bible to just contain what we need to know. The only reason I decided to recently convert to Christianity is because I believe that it is objectively true.
While I am enjoying this video series I do have to disagree that him speaking as if the Islamic god, Allah, and our God are the same. They are not the same at all. I know alot of people get confused about this because the muslims use the same first part of the bible that we and the Jews do, but their Allah is not our God nor the Jews God either. They have distorted who God is and made Him into what they want Him to be. No different then the JW and Mormons making Jesus into what they want. :(
I think when speaking directly to creation they are essentially the same. You could always say that Allah is just God warped into what Muhammad and his followers wanted Him to be like. An evil clone, if you will. : )
but an evil clone isn't the same..its the opposite. It just really bugs me they would use a religion that is pretty much the total opposite of our religion to help show God created everything. That is like using Hitler to prove a good case on something..the fact Hitler is used at all actually undermines it. Same thing here...it actually undermines the overall message.
I have to disagree with one thing. Islam is not at all the exact opposite of Christianity. It has the same roots, and quite a bit of its doctrine is similar. I am not saying that Islam is a good religion, but saying it is opposite is a bit much.
I personally would not have mentioned Allah, but I can excuse these people from doing so.
