@Mopardude Thats what I'm beginning to think too. I'm hoping to find soon where the Eagles are, because last year they were confirmed here. Now, I'm on a mission! :)
@tedhaze1 Probably. I had no clue...I just saw this unusually huge looking thing up in the tree! I'll be heading back out there to do more exploration. We did have Bald Eagles in the area last year around this time, so I want to try to find them!
@chopplolo I'm beginning to think thats what it was. I still want to investigate more though, because last year about this time, we had confirmed reports of Bald Eagles at this location. I never saw them, but they were confirmed by the DNR.
and BTW- yes you are correct. That's a stacked stone foundation, lots of lichen on it, has to be from the 1900's-1930's era. Bet it was a little farm structure of some sort. They didn't use concrete or mortar like that till after the turn of the century (at least not the layperson)
@LeonRFpoa Yeah, thats what I'm thinking too given the proximity to the lake. I'm gonna do a little more digging on the history of this area. I have a lot to learn!
that sir is a turkey buzzard. Bald eagles have white heads all their life. Beak shape is exactly like the buzzards I see, they don;t have featherless necks.
@LeonRFpoa Baby Bald Eagles don't develop the white heads for 3-4 years. Last year, we had confirmed reports of Bald Eagles in this area, that is the only reason I raised suspicion. I have contacted a local DNR agent, and he wants to meet me at the location. I may be going back out here on Thursday again.
You are right though, judging by what it may appear as, it is entirely possible it is only a turkey buzzard.
It could just be my shitty eyesight....but I could swear that looks like a vulture of some sort. It looks like it has a long beak with some red behind it. Possibly a turkey vulture?
@dawg1157 Yeah, thats kind of what I'm thinking. The only reason I thought it may be a baby eagle was the fact that last year at this time, Bald Eagles were reported in this area. I'm no bird expert, so I figured I'd throw it out there.
The head isn't too Eagle like -- but I'm not a bird expert. Perhaps you can track one down on YouTube who can identify it. I'm interested in learning this.
In an ideal world you filmed an "extinct" bird and can sell your video for hundreds of thousands of dollars. A safe guess is that it's not a "Black Eagle" -- because Black Eagles live in the Himalayas.
@drewnetwork In the one shot, its clear it doesn't appear to be an eagle. I've contacted the local DNR agent, and he wants me to take him to the location so he can check it out. I'm not a bird expert either. I just thought it was highly unusual to have a bird that size sitting right there. Last year about this time, we did actually have Bald Eagles reported in this area, but I just never found them. That is the reason I am questioning this.
@BOrn2BReakShit Its actually a very narrow walking trail that is supposed to go around the entire lake, but because the bridges have been removed, has now become impossible to do.
@susanloveshuskies Thats what I thought too. I contacted the local DNR agent, and he's gonna let me know. He asked if I would be willing to take him to the location, so now I'm just waiting to hear back from him....It was very cool!
after seeing the turkey buzzard, would have been cool if bigfoot showed up . LOL

Well, I think that bird in the beginning was kinda a crow or something but I'm not sure.
Those trails are kinda small in that area but you see it without a problem.
I remember that boat launch, before I went to the park I found that place so I just walked a little around there, it is a cool place anyways.
Great vid Matt

@MagicCadillac Some are saying its a turkey buzzard. Very likely actually.
