The Kennedy's all come to hyannisport but they own houses dispersed throughout the neighborhood like normal people. That house is the most significant because it belongs to senator kennedy and that is where all of his immediate family and grandchildren stay. As for ethel's kids they live all over.

I think they call it a compound as the main big house has two or three smaller homes around it which also belong to the Kennedys and together all the properties on the land they call a compound.

it's really just a cluster of homes -- I doubt the Kennedys call it that, more a creation of the media.
