  • I hope you don´t clean the machine with compressed air.^^

  • Why does that thing move up and down between every pass?

  • Yes best if it was helical milling just one pass

  • because they did not tell MasterCam for the tool to stay down or they are using it as a chip clearing time

  • It is doing a rapid move from the end of the tool path back to the start of the tool path.

With any rapid movement the tool need to go back to the clearence plane which is on top of the part.

pcp57 is also correct in reference to "keeping the tool down", assuming that they were using mastercam of course

  • What's all this then? An operator with his hand in the machining area with the spindle running?

Make sure the 'Health and Safety' police don't find out...

  • Yeah, if that air gun gets caught in the cutter, it could suck your hand right in.

  • Looks good Dave.

  • this video shows why I like my horizontal machine ;O)

  • yes

I do have a video with a horizontal

    you can search on YouTube

    (AJX 4.0Dia.Helicel Milling 7.200Dia)

  • why is it climb cutting and then chip cutting, climb cutting again and then chip cutting over and over????

and isn't the color of the chips a little bit too dark?? you should be using coolant to protect the piece and the tool

  • high speed machining. If you use coolant, you might actually damage the tool, due too shock from the temperature change.

  • Why no coolant, must be ceramic inserts.

  • No Inserts are Carbide from Mitsubishi the grade is VP30RT the Cutter is a AJX

  • coolant is not always necessary some carbide inserts cut better and last longer without coolant.

  • Nice chip formation and color...too bad the machine isn't equipped with an air blowoff - running a spindle that fast, I wouldn't be reaching in there to clear the chips!

  • mitsubishi ajx kicks ass =D used to run my 32mm one at 1400mm/m 1400rpm and 1.75mm doc for hourssss on mould bases. friend on hermle borrowed it n smashed it up =(

  • Is that a Micron machine centre..?

  • No a Haas VF6 cat-50

  • is the piece just a little too big for you to use ise jaws?

  • yes

  • h13??

  • wow, that finish looks good from a rougher.
