it has a nice beginning bas as you might have noticed there is an un-productive flame for a long time after the initial flare, this is where all the excess elements are burned! id cut down at least half the sulfur and add add half a tablespoon extra potassium nitrate. Happy pyrotechnics
@david1513 hey nice formula, water isn't bad for a formula just as long as it has all be evaporated before cooling, this ensures it is still dry, some formulas are easier with water and some it isn't necessary.
@david1513 i make r candy all the time and you don't need to let cure for that long so long as the cooed fuel is brittle and snaps when broken its fine and will produce plenty thrust
Adding sulfur into the KNO3 sugar propellant makes its Isp lower, because the sulfur doesnt burn well and the molecuar weight of the burn products are higher and it can't accelerate in the nozzle.
Try just KNO3 and Sugar, better still, bring the sugar up to melt in
a double-boiler (water bath) and stir in KNO3 with a wooden spoon
(a metal spoon can set it off) and then cast it in a fuel grain in the
rocket tube with a channel down its center (leave a rod through the
mold you can pull out) and let it cool. Use about 3.5 parts to 1 KNO3
by weight.

true, just use KNO3 sugar, corn syrup if you want, and mabey some baking soda or iron oxide =)
Nukedeuce 2 years ago
Oh baking soda has a similar effect to iron oxide??
mrblah125 1 year ago
@mrblah125 ya i believe so... not 100% sure tho.
Nukedeuce 1 year ago
@mrblah125 Sodium biccarbonate should release CO2 and not act as a catalyst.
One would think the CO2 would dampen the reaction... Put on a vid of this please.
nicksynnz 1 year ago
@Mitrolaja wrong suffer releases more gasses than kno3 thus leading the rocket to have more thrust
