  • Shima I am a little girl but i am also a dancer which mean we have to waer our hair in a bun do you have anymore protective styles for buns besides the french braid one(because my hair is shorter than yours)

  • You know what Shima, you are all right girl! Way to include the biracials like a champ. Were all humans and since were humans... Hair will grow, just retain it.

    Duh.

  • If you get a chance to watch another documentary by Dr Willie morrow

    aron ranen's black hair documentary

  • @markee871

I have not been to KENYA however, I lived in Germany for a year and there are many Afrikans who live there and have businesses. Some of them have super long hair while others wear braids, wigs. many whites take a lot of care conditioning, brushing, taking vitamins like Biotin, prenatal pills they sometimes have to work on their hair to. I get pantene or paul mitchell for my husbands (white) hair he has GORGEOUS hair but it was dry/frizzy before i started shopping for his hair care

  • Hey Everyone there is some really great info on the history of Black hair care there are several parts to the video. If anyone is interested just for fun or FYI please check out watch?v=p96aaTSdrAE or you can yt title search

    aron ranen's black hair documentary

    Take care of your hair!!

  • a great documentary to watch about Black Hair and our hair follicle genocide.. no other culture of people has had hair problems as the Blacks and even today as you can see some blacks are so HARD or so uneducated that they believe that our hair will not grow. it will if we stop.. they mess up your follicles on purpose then make fun of us and try to humilate us and shame us.. WAKE UP!!!

  • 02:12 IS WHAT AFRICAN AMERICAN HAIR TEXTURE LOOKS LIKE! it cant grow!!! Go back to the 1960's where black ppl embraced their hair texture! nowadays black ppl lost their minds and think they can grow long hair like other cultures! i think that relaxer sunk in those domes and fucked with their braincells! embrace ur kinky, course, short ethnic hair!!! stop trying to tell people that shaniqua can have butt length soft silky indian hair Naturally! IMPOSSIBLE! that is not ur trait to have long hair!

  • @markee871 Black people in africa hair is short due to the weather, many parts of africa have very dry and hot weather which causes their hair to not grow but i've seen MANY africans that comes from those climates move to the u.s and suddenly they see hair growth for the first time because they are no longer in the harsh environment that prohibits their hair from growing. If BW hair couldnt grow there would be no need for touch ups on their NEW GROWTH every month. its a matter of reservin growth

  • this "shima" is playing all of ya'll!! HAIR GROWTH DOESNT COME IN A BOTTLE! focus on schooling your daughters instea dof trying to prove that they can grow hair when we all know its impossible for black people to grow long silky thick hair! leave that for latinas/europeans/indians/asians/arabs..

  • Shima my daughter is 3 years old and her hair is booty length now, my question is,is it okay to press her hair... I do it about every 3 months to make it more managable b/c i am scared of the chemicals in texturizers... Her hair is really soft but it easily tangles, and I realize that the detangler only work's for the moment... Help Please,.. Will I eventually damage her hair...

  • @1arnasia ahahahahahahahah please! black people cant grow long hair so stop with ur "in denial" bullshit!!!

  • can super dark girls really grow their hair long? i mean maybe dark skin girls can but not the super dark, smdh.

  • Super dark skin????? what does that have to with hair

  • @TheTfrazier

when you hear someone say something so stupid just know that it is because of programming by the media, other black family members as well. Watch a film called Classified X. You will see.. Skin color has nothing to do with growing out long hair. Its mostly what you eat and what you put on your hair. i have come to realize that over my years and this is my 3rd BIG Chop in 30 years. this time i understand how to care for it.

  • @WonderWomanFan4life PLEASE! A SHANIQUA WILL NEVER HAVE INDIAN/LATINA/ARAB/EUROPEAN/ length hair or the same texture! black people have a certain texture u dumbass idiot...it wont grow passes a certain length! its not what u eat! if food had something to do with it...than all black girls would have waist length hair! ..because if it works for one than they will all try..we know how much black ppl want hair that they will never have!

  • @markee871

why are you here??? that's not true. Black children, women can grow their hair as long as they want. they just have to care for it. whatever you think.. It's whatever you feel is true. seriously. I personally know that the hair will grow super long as I wore my hair Super long to mid back for years until I let somone talk me into coloring it. Then its been a long ass road back. but I say another 2 years I will be where I want to be.

  • @WonderWomanFan4life ahahahaha you are in DENIAL!! if black people can grow long hair, than one black person would tell them all and every black person wouldd be walking around with waist long hair! THATS NOT THE CASE BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! how dare ou even think that u can grow hair like a latina/european/indian/asian/arab/mixed woman? are u fucked in the head? black ppl have a certain ahir texture u idiot, it cant grow passed a certain length! unless u have some mix in u

  • @WonderWomanFan4life If there is a mascara that lives up to its name! you better believe that everyone would be using it because one person will tell anotehr and so on! if there was a secret formula to grow your hair..thanim sure every black woman would do it! long hair seems to be their obsession! so of course they would hear about! if milk made ur hair grow than all black ppl would drink milk! BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL MAKE AFRICAN AMERICAN HAIR GROW! THATS THE TRUTH! u cant fuck with DNA

  • @WonderWomanFan4life Why did chris rock make a movie named "GOOD HAIR" if black ppl can grow hair than they wouldnt be envying ppl! i never heard of asian good hair or white good hair! this term is EXCLUSIVELY used for blacks and by black ppl! stop trying to convince ppl that shaniqua can grow hair like an indian woman! are u fucken crazy???!!! people will laugh at u! thats like alek wek claiming she can have light skin like kim kardashain/nicole kidman! IMPOSSIBLE! U CANT PLAY WITH GENETICS!

  • @markee871

Chris Rock made the movie to enlighten us about the power of our consumption in the hair care industry. Did you understand it from that pov. Also he did it to MAKE MONEY. Did you understand that the chemicals are damaging our hair folicles its like Genocide. Do u understand that we use more chemicals on our hair than any others? Did u understand that the products are damaging our hair follicles and making them RICH at our expense? we pay them to fuck up our hair FOLLICLES

  • @WonderWomanFan4life NOT TRUE! he made it to expose the inferiority complex about black women! he never mentioned any other race but black! HENCE WHY ITS CALLED "GOOD HAIR" stop trying to dodgefrom the truth! even ur own black men know that black women cant grow hair! why cant u wake up and take a dose of reality! YOU ARE NOT LATINA,ASIAN,ARAB,EUROPEAN,INDIAN,MIXED,ETC! u dont have the hair texture/genetics to grow hair! PERIOD! END OF TOPIC...NEXXT!

  • @markee871

i disaggree.. Chris Rock made the film to make money. he only told YOU or told the media that it was otherwise. had his intentions been pure he would have informed us of other means that we could find useful, hopeful, trustworthy, and cost effective. He could have introduced aron ranen's black hair documentary but he basically stole his idea.. IN my opion there are many blacks out there who pretend to be useful, helpful but they are LIARS and AGAINST us. LIke you.

  • @WonderWomanFan4life You can disagree all you want! BUT THE FACTS ARE THE FACTS! he didnt make it out of money! he even said that one day his daughter came to him and said why dont i have good hair like the little white girls! he is a father first before a comedian! YOu just want ppl to blindly agree with you! WHATS NEXT? BLACK PEOPLE CAN HAVE BLUE EYES LIKE SWEDISH PEOPLE? you just sound stupid! BLACK PEOPLE CANT HAVE HAIR LIKE LATINAS/ARAB/EUROPEAN/ASIAN/INDIAN,ETC...END OF STORY! NEXT..!

  • @markee871 i'll bet my last buck that you are a black bitter ass man and if im wrong i'll be shocked. I have women in my family that have gone natural and started taking care of their hair and now many of them have hair nearly touching their ass, I've known africans that have never had long hair due to the dry/hot weather but when they moved to a different climate like the u.s and started taking care of they're hair it started to grow.

  • @WonderWomanFan4life Dont ive me that bullshit that the reason why black women cant grow hair is because of chemicals..ahahah! i know white girls who fry/dye and FUCK UP their hair! and it still grows! BECAUSE THEY ARE WHITE! same with others! whites use all chemical sprays/serums/dyes/etc! go to villages in south africa and they are ALL NATURAL, their hair doesnt grow passed a certain length! go to kenya, the only africans who do are the arab north! its a known fact..blacks cant grow long hair

  • @WonderWomanFan4life Hair growth IS NOT A AFRICAN AMERICAN/BLACK TRAIT! you want something you cant have and WILL NEVER HAVE! leave it to other cultures! you sound stupid arguing when the facts are crystal clear! NO SHANIQUA CAN GROW LONG HAIR LIKE A LATINA/INDIAN/ARAB/EUROPEAN/ASIAN/MIXED beautiful female! take care of the short course ethnic hair you have and stop fucking with ur hair and trying to go toe to toe with ppl when u sound dumb! EMBRACE THE FACTS, GET OUT OF UR DENIAL! GOD!

  • @markee871 Your ignorant self can't have if, and maybe the Shaniqua's with their ghettos ass names can't have it, but African-Americans and people who have solid, good names can.

  • @victoriabeckfinat225 Genetics/facts/history begs to differ! your hair type is short/corkscrew! embrace it and stop acting like your spanish/arab/iranian/native american/asian/etc with the ability to grow long hair thats silky! STOP IT! youre annoying! I hate speaking facts to those who plug their ears! Actually my hair is long and Im not black. Genes control hair texture and lenth/density. You can rub "aphogee" on those domes until death do u part, it wont grow a snap full.

  • @markee871 u don' know what the hell u are talking about so shut the fuck up, i dont have mix texture hair and yet my hair is down my back near my ass becuz i have followed shima instructions, the reason why some black people can't gain length is because their hair gets dry and breaks at the end, ITS NOT because it can't grow because if that were the case u wouldnt see black people at the damn barber shop every week!! hair will always grow out the scalp its just a matter of keepin its length

  • @victoriabeckfinat225 dont pay that ignorant ass dude any attention, if black people hair couldn't grow then you wouldn't see black men at the barber shop every week, its just a matter of maintaining the length because ur hair will always grow from the scalp which is why people who relax have to do so every 4 weeks because of NEW GROWTH, lil wayne aint mix with shit but look at his dreds. africans have to live in dry and hot environments which sometimes prohibts their hair from growin.

  • @victoriabeckfinat225 i've known africans that have never had long hair until they moved to the u.s. because they were no longer in a very hot and dry invironment so when u see those african in africa with short hair its because they live in an environment that is toooo hot and dry for hair growth but many times when these africans migrate to U.S or Europe they hair begain to grow. I've had many african friends who didnt grow up having long hair until the moved to the united states

  • @markee871 ITS A FACT!! that on average people hair grows a half of an inch each month but the difference between our hair and nin black hair is sometimes because of lack of moisture our hair breaks at the end as quick as it grows from the scalp so if everytime our hair grows from the scalp it breaks at the ends then you won't see results, i've seen many black women and blackmen with 100% negroid hair and they grow their dredlocks pass their ass. you say that u are not black but i think you are.

  • my mom sez my hair cant grow im suppose to have it in my genes

  • Sasha wears twist & twist outs, malia usually wears hers straight most of the time. Some republicans called sasha a radical because she chooses not to wear her hair straight majority of the time.

  • MsAndrea53, Malia is the oldest daughter who wears her hair natural most of the time. When she does straighten it, her hair is very long. Sasha, the youngest, usually wears her hair straight.

  • okay i got the names mixed up !!!

  • Actually Sasha usually wears her hair natural too, it's usually in a ponytail or pigtails.

She has different texture hair than Malia's...if you look at the pics of them from when they were younger until now.

  • Thanks for posting this video my daughters are 2 and 3 and they love to see little girls with hair like theirs. I bought them both satin scarfs but they hate to wear them, the scarfs fall off by the middle of the night and their hair dos don't look fresh more than 3 days what should I do?

  • how about a satin bonnet you can purchase them at walgreens, cvs and walmart.

  • If you women still dont beleive black girls cant grow hair, particularly dark skin. then you should click on "sera2544" .

  • Shima you never answer my question?

  • which question jianniestrong? I get MAAAAAANY believe it or not...lolz!

  • Ow sorry I wanted to know what kind of shampoo you use an how many times a week you wash your hair?

  • I use my own Shima Hair brand but in the meantime u can use motions. I wash my hair once every 10 days or so.

  • Aww please put your shampoo in market soon..

  • It's so true about using a gentle hand, keeping the hair in protective styling and keeping it well moisturized. My daughters are ages 7, 5, 4, and 2. ALL of them have hair that when stretched comes to the middle of their backs. When I had my oldest, I didn't know what products to put in her hair and used things that dried her hair and combed it TOO much. Thus her hair was short and breaking when she was 1 and 2. Now I know better and ALL of my girls have beautiful, healthy and long hair.

  • How did you KNOW Shima How did yo Know. I have my two children on the same shima hair scheduled as me. They love it. At first we weren't used to the satin caps and silk scarfs but now it's hard for us to sleep without it. I bought so many that they find one laying around the house and put it on themselves and they are 4 and 3. So you have in my family two Shima girls and one Shima boy :)

  • Great advice for little girls and big girls like us right? I wish that i had this advice when my daughter was little. But, she is now natural but she gets her hair pressed. Her her is growing so long and healthier b/c she let go of the perm. Thank you for your service. Take care and God bless : - )

  • Lucky for them they have a stylist doing their hair, most little girls don''t. They have bid momma or Mom or Auntie or cousin burning the crap out of their hair.

  • If you don't believe Shima go see SERA'252 page she is dark skinned and has long(natural) hair if you need someone to relate to otherwise keep the negativity to yourselves. This comment is not directed to anyone in particular

  • Good job shima! My daughter is two and I try to get her to wear a bonnet to bed and that thing is no where to be found in the morning or her brother has it and fills it up with cars!!! But I will keep at it so she can get used to it.

  • grrr, I wish your videos existed when I was a little girl, lol! Awesome tips!

  • who cares if S and M has relaxed or hot combed hair, the point that Shima is tryin to make is the fact that black or afro textured hair can grow!!! My goodness get a life and get the real issue next time.....

  • I'm pretty sure we're all aware of Shima's point, dynastydreamin31. Most of us have been Shima fans since she started on youtube and the simple fact that afro-textured hair grows long is a point she's been making since the beginning.

However, the fact that afro-textured hair is versatile without relaxers is a point that should also be made. So, you will excuse us for trying to set the record, umm, "straight", so to speak. Stay blessed!

  • if thats the case then you should of said their hair is pressed instead of assuming it was relaxed. pressing does not include any chemicals like relaxers does. so like i said no YOUR facts first love ya

  • shima sasha and a malia dont have relaxed hair they get a press, i read this awhile back there was an interview with the stylist that does their hair. you should do more research before you assume things that makes an ass of you.

  • chocolatebunni83 actually YOU should do more research before YOU start assuming things about ME...I RELAX my hair. And if it is TRUE that the Obama girls get it pressed the FACT remains it is still getting STRAIGHTENED.

  • great video, very informative

  • Great advice! I'm pretty sure sasha and malia's hair is natural, though. It's very easy to get natural hair that straight. I used to do mine like that all the time, no texturizers. Otherwise, like I said, great advice, Shima!

  • I think those girls are natural just get a press and curl

  • I agree spareld. It's pretty obvious they don't have a relaxer b/c they've only worn their hair straight on few occasions. Usually their hair is in natural hairstyles such as braids - and REMEMBER when a couple of months ago, there was such hoopla when Malia wore her very thick natural hair in twists.

  • me and my mom and my sister are all growing our hair together

  • That's GREAT fashiongirlxoxo. Please keep us updated on your results!!
