There is one very simple answer to the question "is the glass half-empty or half-full?" the answer is: it depends. It depends on what you did to the cup last. Was the last thing you did to the cup fill it or empty it? That is your answer.

Also note that if you had the liquid and created the cup around it that is still the process of filling only in reverse.

there is in fact a method i have of telling whether a glass is half ful or not if the volume of liquid in side is decreasing from a higher point then half and you happen to stop at half way i call that half empty and visa versa if you are filling it and you stop at half way i call it half full
