Don't know, but FN is stamped on all of the receivers. Last time I had a colt made rifle was in boot camp. it was an m16a2 but every time I had a m16a4 it was FN.
The M240 and M249 are FN made. I had no problems with either of those weapons. (very limited experience with the machine guns so not a very fair assessment)
@Owliganka its most definitly not a joke. The M14 has greater range, punch, accuracy at distance than the M16. The M14 was not out of date. They replaced it because it was too heavy for fighting with when you had 750 rounds with you. It also went through all 750 rounds in about a minute in sustained full auto fire. Had it stayed semi-auto, they wouldve seen its real capabilities.
@dante316a I think the M4 is inferior, because it can not sustain the velocity to deliver the deadly 5.56 like a 20 inch barrel can. All Fails of the 5.56 have come form the M4 short barrel system.
AK47 may be more powerful, but you can't hit shit with that recoil, and you end up wasting too much ammo with that fully automatic mode. I would place my money on the M16 in a fight between it and the ak47. Yes I am aware that the M16a1 was fully automatic. In my opinoin Black Ops doesn't give the M16 enough justice.
Ironic that haters want a large cal gun to replace the M4 bcause it can't hit long distances in Afstan but the AR was developed from studies in Korea(similar terrain) that showed that large cal rifle e.g. M1A weren't necessary bcause soldiers didn't shoot until the enemy was within 300meters.
this is why all the 223 ammo is so expensive cause its going over seas i cant wait till the war is over and the price drops 223 is soon to be some of the cheapest ammo

@sharkminu This is why they improved it. In vietnam they were using the M16A1, now they are at the M16A4. The A2 had great improvements and the A4 is a better version of the A2 (A3 being the better version of the A1)
I am so glad that you guys serving now have the updated M16, Our M16-A2's sucked ass during Desert storm. Gas operated get 1 spec of sand in the bold and it won't fire piece of shit. Spent more time cleaning the thing than firing it. My choice of weapon back then was the AK-47

The m16 was a cheap rifle, it was made of plastic parts in some places. My pap used it and we both agree since we both used it and the m14 that the m14 still towers the m16.

with ak its not about shooting far, inside 300 m range its a deadly weapon, i dont know much about the newer 5.45 round though but I know the ones among us who has had training with ak, it requires a different sort of mindset, very upclose and personal kind of weapon.
oh yeah you can you need habit and practice the ak rifle is fine with hitting things within 300 m, depending on the ammo and the maintainence and the right sights. hotter ammo is usually a better idea, since as it is the ammo is significantly slower than the m16 but when the 7.62 rnd hits anything you normally dont need to look back,

I like the M16A1 more then the M16A2, dosen't have the uneeded weight of the A2 plus it reminds me of vietnam and the 60s.

I guess the A1 is ok but its the version of the gun that gave the M16 the claim that it is extremely unreliable. Modern M16s are very reliable now but the M16 was used the most and put on the spot during Vietnam.
