  • real good cover but I guess It's just not my taste.

Sorry' but my opinion says "thumps down"

  • lol felrrs on my breath

  • Amazing cover of Massive Attack

  • is there honestly even a point to VEVO's existence??All it does is horde good songs and cover them with commercials.

  • this reminds me of a san pedro mescaline trip

  • Gonzalez does a good job...but, IMO, doesn't quite make it his own. A good song, but not a good cover.

  • 2:22 jesus is a transsexual :O

  • @puzzelprijs Boobies!

  • Jose Gonzalez did a great cover for Massive Attack's Teardrop. he didnt lose the passion for the song. and thats what's most important in any song.

  • I love this MV.

  • jose gonzales was amazing in a game called red dead redemption.

  • MUITO BOM! O CARA É FODA MESMO

  • is this the original? cuz i know the one by massive attack

  • I just discovered Jose...Amazing guy.

  • lol It says his third single and two of them have been covers, I suggest no one be too proud of that one. Two awesome covers though.

  • I really like this version

  • Portishead for the win

  • Interesting cover of this song. :)

  • whats with the static on the top of the frame? Also why isn't the frame full screen? Vevo, your shittiness continues to astound.

  • @Twist9 This isnt part of Vevo. jokes on you

  • @lollnIRL Thats interesting considering this video has a vevo bottom banner and the channel has a vevo top banner.

  • @Twist9 what are you using internet explorer or something

  • @lollnIRL Rockmelt Beta, brah, but check it in Safari and it's the same. Not to mention the channel view video features a Vevo watermark on the video playback. Jokes on you.

  • @Twist9 using firefox and i see no watermark anywhere :)

  • i love this song!!

  • the original is from womack& womack

  • @lumpensack89 this is a cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack, NOT TeardropS by Womack & Womack...

  • @d0rk4ce wait what... this is not a cover of sniff' and tears' drivers seat?

  • that's from massive attack :)

or is that original from him?

  • @Zeldaaagirl It is originally Massive Attack.

  • I like this guys voice, but don't get constant need for covering stuff, he should play more of his tunes, it'd be better for him and the world of music. Ohh, well I still enjoy it, don't the video though

  • This video with this song.......more like it's own religious movement than a video for this song!

  • So soothing. This can make me fall asleep. I love it. I prefer this version over the Massive Attack version.

  • is this video in reference to some sort of biblical story? it's psychedelic as all awesomeness, but i feel like i'm missing something and it has a biblical sort of flavor. can anyone help me out?

  • @shaxincat, It does kind of look like some kind of religious cartoon from the 70s, but I don't know what it's supposed to be. Since the two cities were destroyed at the end by what appeared to be a God-like figure, I would guess that it was the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, but I'm really not sure. I also can't help but think that they're kind of trying to be a little like Percy Shelly in reversing the perspectives of good and evil, but I am very uncertain about that.

  • @shaxincat, I just noticed that if you look very carefully on 2:43, when the first fireballs are headed towards the city, the door says "Sodom" above it, so I guess it is about Sodom and Gomorrah. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, though.

  • 3:05

    NNOOOO!!! THEY KILLED GUMBY!!!

  • First time I heard this was just the other day on shrooms, 'nuff said.

  • hes such a genius!

  • this is better than the original abortion video by massive attack

  • This version of "Teardrop" was effectively used in S4 of Friday Night Lights in a "A Sorta Homecoming," during it's closing sequence.

IMatt Saracen coming home from a hunting trip with Tim Riggins ... then, a Military escort knocking on the door of Matt's house to give his mom and gramma some bad news. Tim drops Matt off at Julie Taylor's house.where she tearfully has to be the one to tell him his father was killed in Iraq. Fade to black.

    POWERFUL STUFF!!!

  • @1000Passwords Sad, sad scene.

  • House song; both artists, Massive attack and Jose bring unique styles to this song and I love both!

  • did Massive Attack cover this song or did he cover Massive Attack?

  • @dreamland225 he cover massive attack

  • LSD much? awesome song, confusing video. i think i liked it though...

  • Cool

  • "You really are Duffman! Then I must be Jesus! UP UP AND AWAY!"

  • Better know to some as the theme from House.

  • This is a cover of a Massive Attack song.

  • is this what life is like on acid?

if so i would like some

  • Yes, Massive Attack does the theme for House but they do use this version in the episode where Amber dies.

  • @TheDiotase talk about a tearjerker episode. I was weepin like a baby at the end. Made even more powerful by this version of Teardrop.

  • this song is also done by massive attack, and that version is the theme song for the show house.

  • lol i only clicked this cuz one of muh friends is named Jose Gonzalez lol i miss him! (he moved)

but anyways,, i actually enjoyed this. pretty kewl.

  • i enjoyed it

    thnx

  • this guy only does covers?

  • no.... he's just done a lot I guess he has originals :)

  • Dude, God is fuckin' pissed.

  • who cares if it a cover or original?, just enjoy it, I read thse argumentativecomments on here and shake my head at you the problems we have start with me,you and all of us as individuals, we ALL need to WAKE UP to the fact that we're al full of crap! lets sop failing to conduct simple relationship. Lets stop all of the useless identifying thru race, skin colour and "country of origin" we are all from nature and WE created these borders, wake up and see that, i need to also! I LOVE JOSE GONZALEZ

  • @jemjem1974 He's Mexican :) you must be a yank.

  • @muzzawelsh Pretty sure he's swedish you yank :).

  • @muzzawelsh no, he is not .. he is Swedish, his parents are from Argentina! ;)

  • @muzzawelsh He's Swedish and his parents are from Argentina. No Mexican in him tool XD...

  • I definitely like this better than the original

  • lol youtube

  • why do we still have racism in 2010 ? cant people realize that were all one ... were ur from doesn't matter ....the earth doesn't have lines drawn on it saying this is where some one is from and were some one else is from ....the world is for everyone...music is for everyone...just enjoy the music...if u don't like it then don't listen...it's not rocket science

  • actually cro magnon evolution has had its truths suppressed and afro centrism theory pushed forth as a politically and socially correct answer to a very difficult observable truth. Space programs? Technology? You going to have kenya or some aboriginees send a remote lunar rover to mars and take pictures? I didnt think so.

  • Thank you so much for posting that, I'm sick of popping on these videos and seeing people say how certain people shouldn't play a certain instrument or certain style of music because of their race.... Thankfully there is another sane person in the world. We all need to get over ourselves,

if Aliens are real they probably wont come here cause they are waiting for us to kill each other off, no Im not saying I believe in Aliens but just look at it like that WE'RE SO SELF OBSESSED!

  • @buttersworth13 If television programs 90 percent of us then of course we will be self obsessed. The damage is done.

  • @AtEnAjOoOooNn Only people with nothing have that sentiment. Unless your on drugs or read a slogan somewhere. Most people with something tangable would say otherwise there families didn't work hard for someone else to take it, if so they would have never created houses, farmlands and clothes because everything would be for everone. Think about what your saying. :)

  • All arguing aside... this is a great song, and a great cover of it.

  • i wonder what the video is about, looks like soddom and gomorah and god burning it, or a version of it...

  • Wow, all these people saying this is not original, provide a link or something to the person hes covering please?

  • Thanks for creating out of the box.

  • Can this guy write his own fucking hit for once?

  • @TRBNGR666 who did he copy? Provide proof or stfu.

  • "Teardrop" is a song by Massive Attack, which was first released on their 1998 album

  • whats stfu mean? i cant even pronounce that jive

  • stfu=shut the fuck up, and yeah I just checked it is a cover of Massive Attacks teardrop song.

  • I wonder about the other songs, did he cover those as well?

  • heartbeats is a cover, not sure about others but I am seeing a pattern hence my previous comments.

mexicans....always stealing shit i'll tell you what

  • Watch what you're saying. Jose Gonzalez is not Mexican. The man was born in Sweden and family is from South America. Don't be a racist.

  • Dont be so scared of being Racist, Dont be so brow beaten because of WW2 that youre terrified of being labeled. Youre one of those people who are too scared to be critical of anyone other than whites. Being scared to criticise a non white is RACIST, I am not racist, ill attack anyone i want.

I live in the Southwest, Gonzalez is a Mexican name regardless of where he is from. I have known a few of them, sold me weed haha no joke

  • haha you so stupidly bought the weed., my name is steve mckinziey, does that mean im white>?

  • youre a traitor for all i care, id hold you up over my head atop the pyramids at chichen itza and cut your throat and bleed your insignificant black cock loving ass.

  • and no, its doesnt mean youre white....u could be a descendent of a slave that some irish guy purchased. you could be some douche who changed his name. you could be some sort of mixed race step child....any number of abominations

  • Im not in Sweden, I live in a Free country that protects my freedom of speech....unlike Sweden where you cant say anything you want. So there is no need to 'watch what I am saying" thats the comment that really got me ill be honest

  • I'm not a Swede... I'm a Mexican-American from the U.S. just like you.

  • oh lol. Well Ive had a lot of Mexican friends growing up and trust me..Id make the same joke to their face. I tell them to mow my lawn...they tell me to make them meth...stereotypes can be used in good fun...theyre just words..actions speak louder

  • If you knew anything, you'd learn that he's Swedish.

  • where he is born doesnt change his ethnicity moron socialist.

  • massive attack - teardrop aka house opening song

  • YAY!I am soooo happy I found the version from the House episode Wilson's Heart.I love the original of this song and basically every cover <3 5 stars ^-^

  • Jose is the fucking MAN! He is original.

  • Original my ass. He took a dark and sadistic song and made it into a circus show. The music itself is good, no doubt.

  • now i know this song is a cover and ive listened to the original but i have to say that the way this guy sings it sounds a LOT like Old Man by Neil Young

  • i love this video im srry buit i dont like this song that much but great vid

  • so does this guy do any original music?

  • oh because hes covered this song?

  • Amazing...

  • he is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I knew i heard this song before when i was watchin Friday Night Lights couple weeks ago. i tried so hard to figure it out, i recognized the lyrics, but didnt but 2 in 2 togther...great cover

  • Sodom and Gomorrah

  • nice massive attack cover man, wow

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks to "the storm" being in season 1 of FNL, I have become a Jose Gonzalez fan...take a look at Newton Falkner's version...im partial to Jose, but its good too....one of the best songs ever

  • This song was just on another FNL, season 4. Epic.

  • you're all fucking crazy

  • Just heard this song at the end of episode 4 of Friday Night Lights. What a beautiful song!

  • yea thats what made me look this up. epic!!

  • I think the original is good, but there's something really desert-like and western about this version that just appeals to me more. It seems to have totally different meaning than the original version - both imp. meanings though.

  • he's saying "fearless on my breath" :)

  • love is a verb, love is doing word...Fearless on my breath.

  • it's "feathers on my breath", if you go to his website and download the lyrics PDF, you'll see it for yourself.

  • i've just ruined the connection of some of you with the song sorry

  • in this version the words are easier to understand but when i listen to the massive attack version i just cant seem to make myself hear "feathers on my breath" it sounds more like "feel the sunrise (or sunlight), pray" i guess the words are "feathers on my breath" but man sometimes it seems like they purposefully make it hard to tell what they are saying (singers in general). all of that being said i have listened to both versions like 10 times this week because they are both awesome.

  • I don't remember which artist it was, but he refused to publish the lyrics to his song. When he was asked why, he said that what you hear is what is important to you. That gives the song personal touch to the listener. If you are corrected, that personal connection to the song is lost.

  • Well Elizabeth Frasier (who did the vocals for the Massive Attack version) is not known for singing clearly, that's just her style. There is still great debate on just what was being sung on most Cocteau Twins songs.

  • this is an awesome, powerful cover.. one of those few cases where its superior to the original song.

This video on the other hand..someone was on some sort of illegal narcotic when making it.

  • god, this video is so trippy when high

    PEOPLE FLY WTF!@?!

  • OMG you're totally right!

  • Man i just experience that.... my life just got fucking rocked.

  • judging by the songs he covers, jose gonzalez has good taste in music!

  • woah i love this, where I can download the video?

  • wow. This version is actually quite good. Different, but good. If Massive Attack went folk!

  • I really like this version but he is no Elizabeth Fraser .....but, then again, who is?

  • original is 1000000 times better

  • Infinity to the tenth power lol

but seriously, I'm not keen on this version but that's just me.

  • sodoma y gomorra.

  • psychedelic as fuck

  • Somehow I think this video is about, even though we use culture and religion to separate and classify ourselves, we are all unified...

  • wth is the video about ??

  • I am tired of hearing the song!

is great! I like massive attack long ago and this man a great version!

greetings from Spain. sorry for my english.

  • I think you mean: I am NEVER tired of hearing the song!

  • You do know that this song is originally by Massive attack, right? So technically it's NOT a song by Gonzalez!

  • wen are you all people going to grow up and realize that a "cover" of a song is not a cover, but it is a different song. you like it or not. you only compare it as if it was any other different song, to the "original" melody. enjoy music and don't "compare" it....... F**** lovely song! brings tears to my eyes!

  • it's really difficult to not compare the original to the "cover." especially today with songs being butchered from sampling by the majority of mainstream "artists." I personally find that a cover allows me to appreciate the original more and possibly discover a new artist.

  • better with massive!!!!

  • Two difeerent syles -.-

  • I prefer Newton Faulkner's version

  • isn't that song from massive attack?

    no i must be wrong

  • why would you be wrong

  • sarcasm =P

  • it ish =]

  • isn't it portishead?

  • massive attack

  • This guy must be awesome... cover of the knife AND massive attack?? holy fuck

  • Well, depending on your point of view, he is either awesome or unoriginal. I'd have to go with the latter.

  • unoriginal???? he's one of the most original musicians in recent timees, betweeen his own compositions and his magnificent covers.

  • i think its "brave".

Its just semicreative... i spare the awesome for creative art, not just a creative reproduction.

its very good, five stars, but it`s still ... just a cover. (For me he totally destroyed the magic of heartbeats...)

  • In the middle age the artists didn't use their real name (until renaissance), because it was unimportant, and the art piece didn't have to be "original", only it had to be entertaining or excellent. Romeo and Juliet is a remake from an ordinary italian drama, no one knows the real director. And so as most of Shakespeare's other pieces. But I guess you wouldn't dare to say that Shakespeare isn't "awesome".

It's just an example of another view...

  • c`mon , you cant compare popculture to shakespeare... no way, i am sorry. The dynamics of cultural art are fluctuating to fast nowadays (media...) to compare it like this.

(But a smart comment, i like this kind of view...

if more people would think so ... we had much less problems ... :)

  • bytheway... times do change. you said "until renaissance" lol... your a funny guy, i see.

a lot happened the last 375 years.

if you think that "awesome" should be defined by the entertaining-factor,

    - hey , be objective -

would be defined through Letterman & Co...

4 example. Or the daily soaps...

    Whatever...

If you ask me...this kind of entertainment has a lot in common with drugs(drugabuse).

A good cover smtms is ok, if you are already "famous".

Using it to get famous...just bad.

  • love ya

  • I'm not really in love with this version simply because his vocals don't compare to the original. I do like the heavy acoustic guitar sound though.

  • i think the beauty in his vocals lie in the fact that they are so weak but confident

  • this is ok but the newton faulkner version is much more impressive imo

  • that version lacks emotion to me and makes the intimate song into a standard american rockanthem. impressive, but somehow seems to miss the core. this one has a very strong build up i think. very good, very personal but energetic. amazing video tho!

  • i totally agree bezhamster, you can feel the emotion is jose gonzalez's songs

  • I like the Massive Attack version, but I think this one is prettier.

  • this is an amazing cover.

    <333333

  • Franc-maçon(0:41)

  • can anyone get tabs to play this song?

  • Is this song commin' on the seasons end of House M.D.? somewhere in the beginning?

  • They used the original by MA for the opening, and this particular cover in the end of the season four finale, the one where House lost 4 hours of his memory, and where Amber dies. (I know this because I saw the episode yesterday)

  • Yes, thanks for the information!
