While this song is primarily a nightmarish anthem of evil, I love the sense of hope you get when Terra's theme kicks in around 1:14, and particularly from 1:26-1:32. It basically lets you know "Almost there! Almost home free! Just defeat this monster and you will have triumphed to the end!"

OK, in terms of the story it might not quite be true, but for the PLAYER it certainly is. :D

You can just hear the raw emotion behind it. The feeling of hopelessness and the desperation to bring terra back, the disbelief aqua feels that this happened to him and the feeling of struggle of possibly having to kill a friend. This song portrays these emotions perfectly, as well as tying the nostalgic link and realization that this is where it all began by sampling fragments of sorrow. Impressive work, yoko. well done
