  • My question is the compressor has 3 copper tubes in front then 1 in the back by where the start relay box is which of those tubes is for air out put and which is for air input?

  • @K1KO247

Put your finger over it and see for your self, one is for air output, two are for air input ;)

  • @K1KO247

  • Did you make a release valve for the moisture that will acquire in the bottom of the tank?

Where did you get the fridge compressor? I'd imagine it's oil-less, too.

I've wanted to make one for a long time. You should put some paintings up.

I think I'll get around to making one soon. I just need to find where Ican get a oil-less fridge compressor. Can't be too hard to make.

  • @fabfauna

Yes, I did make a release valve on bottom of the tank. There is no problem whit oil, as long as you don't move that engine around (you do loos a very little, little, little oil when its working, nothing dramatic).

  • Will this thing turn itself on and off when the pressure gets too low? Is that why it stopped at 4 bar?

  • @oaney yes.

  • uhm i have one question on the compressor are 2 wires the first one you put in to your wall adapter

and the second one goes to your temperature qauche

    3 cables i think ,,

can you let it off or do you put 2 wirers to each other

  • Yeah, I know a lot have asked you this but, can you post the instruction, or a link with the instructions on how to build one of these plz? It would really help us out C:.

  • @doghateburger and @all of you that need instructions...

i dont have them, I did have technical drowning in catia (or acad cant remember) but I dont have them any more sorry ;)

  • sexy propane tank painting :D

  • I've heard ref compressors get lube from the freon, and don't last as long. Any truth to the rumor?

  • Great job on the compressor.

Your pressure switch looks like a modified italtechnica pm-5 or 12. Do you have any problems using it with air? I`d like to usea PM-12 with my compressor as it allows for a very large switching differential like 45psi - 103psi.

My compressor doesnt need an unloader function on the switch as it can start against pressure. Besides that.. the unloader is way too loud when it operates lol :)

  • could u make a video of how to make one of these plz much appriciated thanks loving the air compreser

  • thnkxxxxxxx dude....for ur help

  • hiiii...i want to ask that this is nessecary to make propake tank...nd to nt use compressor direct with default air pressor...instead of making air pressor...plzzzzz dude it ll be very gratfull if u ll tell me ..

  • @sidcoolgiri

It is not possible to use air brush or any other paint gun without air pressure that is required for that specific paint gun... In other words, compressor alone, without tank, isn't pumping enough air for painting...

  • yup..had this done on my setup too..all you need really is the ref compressor drained everything is good to go...but be carefull not to always removing it from the outlet..else it would break the ref compressor..you can turn it off..just let the current flow through it to prevent it from breaking...1st hand experience

  • you do know you can take this up to 20 30 bars :)

  • @Digadogup

I do know that 25-30bars is "normal" operating pressure for this compressor (engine) :)

I did try to push it, but my safety valve failed at ~8bars... and I didn't want my tank to explode so that's where i stopped ;)

  • I am whiling to make my own but Idk seems dangerous doing it on my own without any instructions. :(

  • ola amigo, qual é a dimensão da rosca do pressostato margirius

  • what is the CFM???????????

  • la bit slow

  • a friesnd of mine has make one like yours. its so powerfull

  • this is amazing i was gunna use a car ac unit but it looks like this works better thanks

  • How can I get the specks on how to build one for myself at home. If u could email it to me at pjjkz2009@live.com I would love that thanks!

  • So how are you keeping the compressor lubricated?

  • I'm buildng ine if these right now, did you buy a new compressor motor, or did you just pull this one out of an old fridge. yours looks pretty new

  • could u tell me how u made it or somewere on the net that coud tell me also did u have 2 weld anything thanks

  • Great- thanks for showing, one question - have you had any problems with lubricating the fridge compressor - I heard they need to be lubricated? Thanks

  • on what pressure the regulator is set for using the spray gun?

  • @haseebgood

depends on what gun your using... I usually go for little below max pressure for specific gun...

  • Did you use like a braided hose from the compressor to the tank?

  • @Yoursoul101

something like that... its a high strength (reinforced) hose..

  • shit how much you sellin em for you should make you some money the New Lower price Silentaire lol!!!!

  • hey im really new to this and dont know much but i would like to know what kind of compressor are you referring to is it a air compressor or something else sorry for asking

  • I posted this (more or less the same) on another video, too:

I thought it would be a nice trick to get a tire and have an extra valve installed, connecting one to a 12v auto compressor and one to the airbrush (you can get airbrush adapters for tires).

Also installing two tire valves on a discarded fire extinguisher (would need cleaning) should also do the trick.

    What do you think?

  • @norsemannn

Im not sure if i understand what do you want to do here...

you want to use 12v auto compressor to pump air in to car tire and then use that same air to "power" your air brush... heheheh nice on dude :))))

Not practical and I really wouldn't try it but I think it could work

  • Was thinking that I could do face painting at the beach, square or something that way.

I would have stored energy in a car battery and as compressed air in either a tire or an old fire extinguisher tank (people are throwing them away here because of new regulations).

I'm envisioning an airbrush cart with solar panels, batteries, a tank and even a foot-pump.

  • @norsemannn mate.. we need to shake hands. i had this EXACT idea.. like word for word :D arent we just awsome :P

  • I would like to make one with two compressors for my trailer so that i dont have to keep moving my $1200 silent air compressor, same idea just alot cheaper

  • you say your compressor is for a large refrigerator, how many hp is it? Id like to get one like yours so it doesnt have problems overheating. Thanks, and great vid.

  • you are a genius, any advise as to getting the components to make oneof these?

  • Well I got my components in different places (shops) and my garage!

Basically you need an old propane tank, some pipes, cut in/out switch, cable (el. shop), pressure gauge, pressure regulator and air filters (compressor shop), compressor (spear parts shop for fridges)

  • lol :D verry creative, but its like an hour till it reaches a normal level of pressure.

mine just shoots up to 3 in like 2 seconds xD

  • LOL i can buy a new IR air brush comp for less than you bought the switch for.

  • I could give a small list of the materials you used

  • Can you please give a list of parts used?

  • hi thanks for a very helpful video, can this been done with a regular air compressor but instead of using its motor for it, a refrigerator engine such as the one you use be used instead?

  • Yes...

  • care svaka čast. pravim ovo uskoro za airbrush

  • Nice,...

  • awsome job bro,i got an Iwata Big White shark ($2.000 with shipping to Puerto Rico) and this is a very cheap option :)

  • Hey mate,

Got myself one of these, its great. Im yet to add a tank. What pressure do you charge the tank to before the switch cuts it off?

  • 4.5 bar :) something like that

  • Very helpful Vid and thanks a heap... However... Please make another vid explaining the in's and out's in detail. Things like: 1) how to connect the switch? 2) Which switch to use??? 3) Are you using an adapter for the T valve? 4) The air's going straight into the tank from the compressor (no filter needed?) 5) which is the compressor in? Does your switch have an unloader? I read that you can feed pressure back to the compressor to avoid lag time.

Otherwise.. best vid of its kind so far.

  • It is easy to connect (wire) cut in/out switch, you have 3 wires (+, - and ground) going in and 3 going out, 3 that are going in you put in a top row and 3 that are going out you put in a bottom row... When you buy your switch it should have stamped instructions, of what goes where! You can buy any water/air cut in/out switch you want, depending on pressure inside your tank.

You need air filters on your compressor, at the time i made this video i didnt have one.

  • Again, you can buy and compressor you want, it doesn't matter, the more powerful you buy, the faster it pumps air in to tank, that's the trick ;)

My compressor is new, and powerful (for big refrigerator, strongest in its class, after this you have the AC compressors) so i don't have a relies/unload valve on my switch.

That thing basically relieses air that is stuck between compressor-one way safety valve-tank (in hose) so compressor starts to work at 0 bar/psi... Good engine doesn't need this!

  • Thanks... one other thing dont you need a one way valve between the compressor and the tank?

  • Well, it is recommended, but your compressor will work just fine whiteout it ;)

My failed at 7-8 bar of pressure... just before i made this video, so i took it off.

  • Not all refrigeration compressors spray oil out of the discharge port; it depends on the unit.

  • Can you pleease do a tutorial?

I really want to make one of these for my pneumatic spudgun!

    Thanks!

  • also the more air outlet piping you can coil around close to moving parts of pullys before it gets to air tank, the cooler your outlet air will be due to the cooling effect of moving air over hot piping , copper would give the best heat transfer for the buck

  • Comment removed

  • why dont you put out some instructions to make the real deal then doityourselfq

  • You possibly have a good light duty a/c , Im sorry if I sounded too critical. Anyone planning on making one- I wanted to advise on a saftey popoff valve if it didnt have one. another design tip that may help with loosing oil would be to somehow have the tank above the element(compressor)maybe set air tank vertically beside element and have the outlet piping run vertically in a coil fashion or strait up to the top of the air tank so the oil could run back down into the element,

  • Comment removed

  • so you pour a bottlecap of oil in the input of the compressor every 2-3 weeks. It works for me

  • what about an aftercooler? air temp has to be 150+. which means huge amounts of condensate moisture when that air is cooled or hot /wet air to sprayer.

  • wow very nice i wish i could build mine ,

  • People, if someone is having throble with oil, it's just put an filter , there are some that comes with regulator.

  • Ok, i have had 2 of these compressors and they both blew out the oil ? hmm, any thougts?

  • Did you do something to those engines (put in more oil or something like that)???

  • How do you solwe the fackt that oil comes out with the air? does it just go down in your tank? then your compressor is probably empty and abot to fail.

  • No, oil doesn't come out whit the air, it stays in fridge engine (compressor)!!!!

  • actually it does come out, but we are talking a drop of oil on like 7-8 refils of the tank, and if you dont hear the oil splashing in the compressor under no pressure you just pour a table spoon of oil down the input line and it should be fine for another 2 to 3 months

  • I have tried this, and is brilliant! I use it to clean dust from computers, also it has no vibrations and are very quiet. Got one problem tho; The compressor doesn't want to start again after it has been shut off, if I wait 30-40 seconds, then it starts up. This happens even when compressor stands alone (no pressurized tank). Is there any way to override this?

  • I dont have problems whit that because i have a powerful compressor, but its actually a good thing, its a safety measure, prevents you compressor from overheating... I had that problem whit my smaller compressor (fridge engine)... If you have a degree in electrical engineering you shouldn't have any problems overriding this :))))))

  • @Da9eI The compressor won't turn on right away because it needs to cool off after its been on :)

  • @zerodegrees8 I have figured this out, how to instantly start this kind of compressor, even if it just ran. There is something thats called a Potential Relay, + a start capasitor, which can be used as kickstart in stead of the PTC resistor, works great!

  • Hi, do you have problems with oil and water drops while painting or there are some kind of filters that demoisture the air?

  • No, I dont have any problems whit oil/water drops while painting.

You can buy filters if you want, I will buy air filters for engine intake (it is also possible to put out take dust/moisture filter)

  • thats awsome now the real question is can it keep up or do you have to wait for it to fill every time it gets low? i'm a little bit trigger happy with my airbrush so and the cost of all these items is more then a regular compressor at the store lol well in my research it is but this is much more quiet i'll give ya that

  • If your painting something whit small paint gun, you dont have to worry about air pressure getting low, if your painting whit professional (big) gun, you will need to make a short stops during painting...

If you are only going to use it for Airbrushing, switch it on and forget :))))

Dud you can hear phone ringing in my house, neighborhood dogs doing their thing ;) real sound bro!!!

  • that refrigerator engine work with piston or how?

  • Has piston inside of it that pumps air...

  • cubic feet per minute or else lt per minute!!but dont bother!all i want to know is if i connect a small gun will it work!!!we are not so far indeed bro!!thanks a lot!!!!

  • I painted this compressor whit small paint gun,I also painted my PC housing. It will all come down to your fridge compressor and how powerful it is.

If you have any other questions just ask, ill find some photos of cut in/out switch, to help you wire it if you want...

  • icome from athens greece!your job is awesome!!i have the fridge compressor and the tank and i will need to get akl the others!!is there a link or a diagram for the connection???ive also a n inverter welding system..thanks for the quick resonse!!!once again congratulations!!ah..what cfm does this deliver?

  • Well we are not so far away my brother, Im from Belgrade...

No need to worry about connecting pressure cut in/out switch and compressor, 3 wires go in, 3 go out of switch (when you open PT5/PT12 switch, there are two rows, connect you motor +/- to upper one and your power cable +/- do lover one, ground goes separately you'll see)

You'll also need some industrial glue, to cower any air leeks on tank before you paint it :)

    CFM???

  • hi!could you tell me all the parts i need to make one for myself?are there any special specifications for the fridge compressor?where can i find the cut in out switch?thanks in advance!!

  • well baisicly you need: compressor (refrigerator engine, my is 220-250V-50Hz), propane tank, pressure switch (PT5 or PT12), air regulator, pressure gauge, safety valve and few more things!

I don't know where your from, but go visit your local hardware store, they should have it!

  • Excellent job on the compressor. Question on the Ref compressor. Does the oil circulate into the air tank some how and just get siphoned back up to the compressor. Or is it just there in the compressor and stays there as long as you don't tilt the thing the wrong way? Everything else looks pretty straight forward

  • As long as you don't tilt it, the oil will stay in compressor... actually you would have to lay it on its side, to get oil to spill :)

  • That's pretty cool. Me and a friend have disassembled an old fridge, and stripped off the compressor.

We've figured out how to turn it on, but once we do that, oil starts pumping out of one of the tubes!

Also, there are many tubes on the thing (5, one of which is sealed). This seems irregular.

Can you please link me to a guide or something? I'd like to know how to handle one of these things properly.

I'd experiment more, but I don't think that spilling oil on the floor would be a good idea.

  • Its a bad idea, but even worst your engine will not work properly without it!!!

So be careful, don't spill any oil!!!

Im not quite sure about your engine, 5 tubes, my only has 3 (2 for air intake and 1 for outtake)

It is quite possibly that some of thees extra tubes is for maintenance and when engine is working it needs to be closed...

Im not sure about that :D, Google it out ;)

PS:make sure that your engine is not siting at an angle when you start it.

  • ??? sta je to?

  • Pa kompresor za airbrush... jednostvno... XD
