@Lairdmbex Thanks. I had a look on the UK Amazon site and I can get it from there. I think someone may be getting it for me as a present, fingers crossed ! !
Jason Mraz has the most uplifting music and lyrics I've heard, and coupled with some of his music videos, make me love him so much. So glad he brings his talent to music.
@freeOurMinds31 I think John Mayer seems to have a reputation for being a douchebag! Jason Mraz, on the other hand, seems to be a really likeable, down to earth guy and he's a great singer too - better than John Mayer!
He's heavily influenced by 70s band like Earth Wind and Fire, Steely Dan, Bob Marley, etc. He takes the best of a lot of different, talented musicians.
WoW he invented his own generation of music and I wouldn't say pop is anywhere near it...it's more of a melodic upbeat jazz.... and even that can't describe what his music is..in the next 10 years his style of music will be everywhere
agreed, I hate it when people call him a pop artist. He's so much more. Like you said, you can't really describe his music with a genre. The best thing I can up with is its real, true music with substance. He's one of those people that really feel and enjoy music.
I totally agree with you. Even 'singer/songwriter' doesn't describe him 'cause he's such an inspiration to his fans and always trying to make the world a better place.
i love the whole band thing he does, but if he would ever decide to settle on only small acoustic shows with toca, maybe 3-400 people, i wouldn't be opposed lol, i love his ability to flat out improvise on the spot, not just lyrics, but to put a spin on the vocal melody too, something fresh and new =)! started listening to him in the late 90's, and don't think i'll EVER stop... the man is a true inspiration!
That's how he actually started, in a small coffee shop called Java Joe's in San Diego where he met Toca. But I'm not sure if he's been around since the late 90's. I thought he signed his first label with Elektra Records in like 2001 or sometime around there.
Actually he has, not well known, but he mentions some of his songs are out dated in one of his countless mini-interviews, curbside prophet has a lot of his brilliant outside of the line notions and experiences from the late 90's =). You're right though, he got signed then, but i mean even bands like hanson played for 5 years together before recognition (btw not a fan of mmbop but their 2007 song New Great Divide, is pretty crazy... random i know lol)
Oh, wow. All this time I thought he didn't even get started until like 2000. I mean I know he went to musical theater academy, but I thought he didn't start performing until like a year before he got signed. Cool, thanks man. And yeah I checked out New Great Divide, pretty sick.
Well I believe it's about him and a girl, and he makes the choice to split and since breaking up he can't go back on his choice or doesn't want to, therefore the title 'No Doubling Back.' My take on it anyway!
this is one of the best songs of jason mraz....hope jason mraz win his nominations in the next grammy's..he deserve it...the best male artist in the music scene....
i saw jason at the hard rock in orlando a few weeks ago, and it was the best concert ive ever been to! i cant wait to see him again! he fuckin ROCKS!! MRAZ!!!!!!!
why are dave and jason being compared? their both great in their own ways. Can you compare a band to a singer? It's not fair because a singer is more limited when he writes
Sometimes, I hate the fact that I live in Europe, because there are so many artists we never see here... But we have some good artists too you don't get to see!! :-) Kidding! Altough, it's a bit frustrating. For my sake, there's Youtube! :-)
Yes, yes, he does! Saw him in september in Zurich. It was truly amazing. It felt like spending a few hours in the sun or somewhere...I expected to come out to a bright sun and a nice beach after the show! :-)
ive seen jason 3 times and seen countless over performances on youtube and not once have i seen him play the same song the same way twice thats what i love about him
I have this DVD it kicks ass! Its a shame the other songs arnt up here. On this DVD he has the best performace of Absoutly Zero which is just unbelieveable vocal.
dave matthews BAND. Carter is one of the best drummers in pop/rock the jams and solos are awesome, Dave has little to do with that he just has a great band. Dave's lyrics make me want to vomit at times Crash-"hike up your skirt a little more show your world to me" You've gotta admit his lyrics are clumsy at times and at others just kind of stupid. See "What would you say" lyrics. Mraz is 1000 times better at song writing and singing in my opinion.
i think you are dead wrong on one thing.. dave has great lyrics.. he is more so a songwriter than a singer.. keep in mind he never wanted to sing, he wrote his songs for him to play guitar and someone else sing..
i kinda feel sorry for that one person.

Yeah, I agree.
I was first exposed to Mraz on the radio waves, through some pretty Pop-ish treatment with his songs. And even back then, he stood out.
But this guy is in a totally different league live. It's a genuine "experience" by itself.
