WoW he invented his own generation of music and I wouldn't say pop is anywhere near it...it's more of a melodic upbeat jazz.... and even that can't describe what his music is..in the next 10 years his style of music will be everywhere

agreed, I hate it when people call him a pop artist. He's so much more. Like you said, you can't really describe his music with a genre. The best thing I can up with is its real, true music with substance. He's one of those people that really feel and enjoy music.

i love the whole band thing he does, but if he would ever decide to settle on only small acoustic shows with toca, maybe 3-400 people, i wouldn't be opposed lol, i love his ability to flat out improvise on the spot, not just lyrics, but to put a spin on the vocal melody too, something fresh and new =)! started listening to him in the late 90's, and don't think i'll EVER stop... the man is a true inspiration!

That's how he actually started, in a small coffee shop called Java Joe's in San Diego where he met Toca. But I'm not sure if he's been around since the late 90's. I thought he signed his first label with Elektra Records in like 2001 or sometime around there.

Actually he has, not well known, but he mentions some of his songs are out dated in one of his countless mini-interviews, curbside prophet has a lot of his brilliant outside of the line notions and experiences from the late 90's =). You're right though, he got signed then, but i mean even bands like hanson played for 5 years together before recognition (btw not a fan of mmbop but their 2007 song New Great Divide, is pretty crazy... random i know lol)

Yes, yes, he does! Saw him in september in Zurich. It was truly amazing. It felt like spending a few hours in the sun or somewhere...I expected to come out to a bright sun and a nice beach after the show! :-)

dave matthews BAND. Carter is one of the best drummers in pop/rock the jams and solos are awesome, Dave has little to do with that he just has a great band. Dave's lyrics make me want to vomit at times Crash-"hike up your skirt a little more show your world to me" You've gotta admit his lyrics are clumsy at times and at others just kind of stupid. See "What would you say" lyrics. Mraz is 1000 times better at song writing and singing in my opinion.
