Peter, you totally missed the point of Where the Wild Things Are. As Spike Jonze said, its not a childrens movie. Its a movie about childhood. You always complain about how things in films are too sugarcoated and lovey-dovey, yet this film makes a film thats realistic in terms of drama, you complain that things didnt end up perfectly.

The thing about the movie is that the Wild Things were a representation of his emotions. I noticed that about him not really helping them out but truthfully he did, he brought the Wild Things closer to each other. Also, he did accomplish something. Transformers 2 was interesting, but as most people said, no character development. They never really made details about Jolt, the Twins, or even how there were more decepticons. Other then they said they came from Optimus Prime's message. Also, the ending could have been atleast 5 minutes longer to tell what happened to the Transformers. Overall though, the movie was much better then the first, for it's action, it's mystery, and especially it's comedy.

Listen, there are parts in the movie where a "character" is about to die; its obvious from the camera angles and music that you are meant to WORRY about that character's life, but, BECAUSE they have no character development, I for one found it impossible to care about what happens to them. With that said, it becomes apparent that the lack of character dev is not so much a conscious choice but rather a failing. It becomes humorous where it doesnt intend to be.
