  • That footwork is absolutely mindblowing. Most people don't realize the mastery it takes just to do small stuff inside the crease.

  • @midgetbeast31 and so the puck cant slide into the net as well.

  • taking dancing lessons eh? LOL JK

  • I hate AC/DC

  • goalies do this to rough up the ice a little bit so when they slide they don't over slide from the ice being smooth

  • Scraping doesn't have to do with the ice being "watery". Especially NHL ice. That ice is perfect, and is given proper time to set up. You usually only see watery ice at local rinks where the drivers are tanked and the people rush teams to play immediately because of scheduling. It's just flat out easier for a goalie who has a more dull blade to move around on ice that's been used.

  • Channeling the magic

  • his pads are new there so stiff

  • holy shit, people are retarded. i know WHY ALL goalies scuff up the crease. However, Lundqvist does the SAME routine, EVERY time, before EVERY period, EVERY game. it's not what or why he's doing it, it's HOW he's doing it.

  • @XxiceburnxX I've always wondered why they do that, care to share why?

  • @XxiceburnxX actually not all goalies scrape the crease. i realized a few years ago that nikolai khabibulin doesn't. Crazy. Dude must have tree-trunks for legs. I'm a netter myself and I tried doing that before a skate and I stood no chance.

  • look at his movement. he's like a machine. absoulute perfection

  • not much a ritual a lot of goalies do this

  • yeh...it's a ritual..when he does it the SAME way EVERY time before EVERY period.

  • @XxiceburnxX uhh..... every goalie does that to fresh ice... its cause the ice is all watery and shit. you're clearly not very into hockey because everyone knows this.

  • just saying every goalie does that.. just different ways

  • I would call this a ritual. I love watching the goalies warm up/scratch the ice and such. They all do it differently and if you listen to interviews some of them will tell you things like, "I tap the top bar twice" or something like that. One of the Avs goalies had the funniest way of getting his net ready...looked like he was in a frenzy. :)

  • lol wtf r u doing in that dump philly taking this vid... i'd recommend getting out of there asap and coming to the garden

  • @rangerfreak616 lol...when you get free tickets up against the glass, how can you refuse!??! hahaha! suck it flyers fans.

  • @XxiceburnxX too bad the rangers suck ass.

  • i wouldnt call that a ritual. i do that before alot of my games if i have time

  • the hankdance ;)

  • if i had the time in my warmups.. i would do this too

  • .......who thinks this is a ritual........ -.-'

  • @jeffster41394 and @panicxitsxbrea actually, the correct term is carving the ice.

  • He does it to to chop up the ice. It seems weird to people, but moving on the chopped ice is a lot nicer than smooth ice. Sliding post to post on fresh, smooth ice isn't good because you would slide way out of the crease. Also, loosing an edge with goalie skates is a lot harder on chopped ice than fresh ice.

  • It's not a ritual. It's scrubbing the ice and keeping the blood/adrenaline/pheromones, etc going. x)

  • I'm a Dev's fan but i still love seeing this guy do "the robot" its hilarious lol

  • It's also for sliding better on the ice since it can be kinda "hard" to slide on when the water freeze.

  • not a ritual.i do this before every game and every period its just to warm up get phsyced.

  • go lundqvist love you bud

  • i agree e wooo

  • hes something special

  • he definetly is.i love the rangers and he definetly is the king.

  • @rangerskickass30

haha I just love the name of your youtube account!!
