  • Still have it

  • I have this notebook. I can't get my Dvd drive to work. It will act like it's going to work when you start it up. But when vista starts up it doesn't work anymore...can anyone help me with this?? If you can thanks. :)

  • @bbbsias4ever I would say the problem is the ribbon cable, it probably frayed and doesn't work anymore. You would have to buy a new one.

  • @bbbsias4ever same thing with some one plz help

  • who was phone?

  • I had one of these but the core 2 duo 1.9ghz with a 7600gt and 2 gig ram, this had the hdmi port.

  • i have a hp pavilion desktop, its pretty old and out dated no, but even tough its only 1gb ram, 2ghz proccesser it still works great ! and i'd love to get a hp pavillion laptop! but i forked out 1, 250 for my desktop 2 years ago ! and i don't wanna fork out loadsa cash for this as i'm on a tight buget these days ! ill check harvy norman for this and see how much it is ! but i really want 3gb ram on a 32 bit ! and i like the vent on the side in case my legs block it ! cant spend more than € 650

  • Oh good. This is a good choice, good luck!

  • Hi, I am thinking about buying this laptop sometime in the near future and I would appreciate it if you could tell how well the video card works as far as gaming. I realize its not the best for gaming but I need a video card that can run games on a mid-range gaming experience level. Thank You and hope to hear from you soon.

  • same. Every where i look the 7150M is a not so good card but i won't to know as well.

  • Hey, I have the very same laptop. I recently downgraded it to XP without thinking about the consequences... is there any way to get the drivers for the wifi and sound card for XP?

  • I put XP, Media Center and Professional on it, and I could not get hardly any drivers for it. I worked for many days with it, and could not get anything. I'm sorry, but I cannot help. I'd Google it? I'm sure you've already done that, sorry. Good luck.

  • hey i got a dell insprioni 1525 with 3g ram and 250g hard drive and it flies that laptop is like mine just from a different company nice choice man.

  • Thanks! Good choice to you too.

  • i would recommend the hp and with vista it is ok on the speed.

  • how does this notebook handle windows vista ??? slow or pretty fast?

How much does it take too boot and shut down? How much does last the battery ???

Cause I'm trying to decide between this or the HP 530 o Acer 4720... thx

  • This notebook handles Windows Vista REALLY Well. I highly recommend it. It takes about 50 seconds to boot, and 10 to shut down, but that can vary depending on what stuff you have on your computer. (Like programs and software) The battery lasts about 3.5 hours, which is really good for a laptop. I would definitely go for this. I just looked at the HP 530, and this machine is quite a bit better, at least I think. So, I would go for the HP Pavilion Dv6809wm, by far. I just dont like Acers.

  • I dont like Acers, because, at least most of them, or all the ones I've ever seen, do not look and feel quality to me. But anyways, the Dv6809 (or about any HP Pavilion) is definitely the way to go. :}

  • THANKS! cause I really need a fast notebook that can handle windows Vista and software like matlab, or autocad, and not getting so slow in the process. Besides I don't want to downgrade to XP since it's kinda tedious to look for XP drivers... I think I will go for that HP dv6809wm, thanks!

  • Hey, no problem. I'm glad I could help! You will not be disappointed! It will run Vista great, and hopefully (probably) all your apps too. Good luck!

  • It's not hard to get drivers for xp use driver agent but vista is better imo

  • How is the video on this? i've heard its not that good

  • The video as in the video card? It's not that good, it's choppy in Windows. It will handle Windows Vista fine, but chess is choppy. Watching movies is fine, though.

  • Upon booting up the system press F10 (I think) and you can go from there and change the video RAM from 32mb to 64mb to 128mb. By default it is set to 64mb. Try that. :)

  • Thanks, but I've actually allready done that.

  • I have a video coming up on how to personalize the nVidia graphics card so it's a lot better and really does look fantastic. Please keep an eye out for that.

  • AWESOME VID! and also i have a question.

im saving my money for that laptop (690 bucks at wal-mart) and i just wanted to know ,

is it realy worth it? like is the internet fast cuz im going into highschool and i need to get a fast working laptop.

and also isnt the graphix card nvidia?

  • Thanks, I'm in high school now and I use it for that, and it's definitely good. The internet is perfect, as long as you have a good connection to connect to. It's not always the laptop that determines how fast it is. The graphics card is the worst thing about it. It's fine with Windows, but any gaming would be very difficult. But is a very good machine for school, or just about anything.

  • I have a video coming up on how to personalize the nVidia graphics card so it really, really looks great and performs better. Please keep an eye out for that and watch it once I get a chance to upload that. The screen looks soooo good with the settings I use.

  • kk.. i will subscribe ..

  • DO you just need a router,Modem and a PC to get going on the internet (i have a ISP) PLEASE REPLY

  • If you have an ISP, and the laptop only, you need a router and modem unless you're using dial up. From the wall to a modem. From the modem to the router. From the router, wireless or wired, to the notebook or desktop. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions. :)

  • can i plug my modem>>router the PC>>router and i'm done?

  • For connecting wirelessly: the WALL>to the MODEM>to the ROUTER. Then go to the computer, find your wireless network and connect to it.

For connecting with a wire: the WALL>to the MODEM>to the ROUTER>to the LAPTOP. Your computer should automatically connect to your internet if you plugged in your cable right and everything is working, which is should.

  • i thought the phone was funny it made my dog start barking when he heard it

  • By default the video card is set to 64mb of RAM however if you enter setup upon booting th machine you can change it to either 32mb or 128mb. I switched it up to 128mb. And yeah, now it runs everything perfectly especially with some of the reccomended tweaking to Vista. I bought a little book of tips and tricks and Vista pretty much owns now.

  • Yeah, I set mine to 128MB too. It's a good laptop though. :)

  • Hey man, I have to same notebook. All in all, I love it. It's a beautiful machine and very powerful for everyday tasks. However the graphics card isn't useful for high-end gaming. It can run WoW with a little tweaking. Meaning, there is no horrible fps or lag in major cities, AT ALL but there is sort of a glitchy feel due to the video card.

  • I love the audio, screen quality, and it is a beautiful machine. The graphics card does suck, but I don't game. I know exactly what you're talking about though.

  • Stupid phone at 1:35!!!! Sorry about that!
