So what is more important here your life or the house? I would think both since without a home you are now destitute and of course without your life you certainly cannot rebuild. So what if there was a solution to all this with a home that can withstand any F5,F6,F7 and even an F10 that does not exist on this planet, yet anyway?? I see this year after year decade after decade of people buying homes that are poorly built, junk boxes then lose them to Tornado's??
F4, F5 - impressive either way. sorry anyone lost their stuff, but the sheer awe of mother nature. grew up in Iowa and have been in 5 tornadoes over my life. add 2 tropical storms and a hurricane to that, and i've seen about all weather. tornadoes are the most frightening, because they can form so fast, and gone just like that. at least with a hurricane you know it is coming!
Waterloo is about 30 miles southeast of waterloo. I live in
grundy center which is 14 miles directly south. I am an occupational therapist, and have worked with some of the victims, I also volunteered for a couple of hours with the clean up. I wrote an e-mail about the experience. I will try to post it somewhere so others can read it. It was an experience I will NEVER forget!
dude im from parkersburg too. Poppens family, and not to like put down our town or anything but if you really think hard, it wasnt 50%. Maybe 30. Just think if main street got hit. eep. My mom was in dollar general at 4:30.
This isn't the original video. And you can tell because the qualitly sucks. If you look at the original video posted by KCCI, you can tell that it is the original. And they're not a shitty news station. What do you have to support that?

It was an F-4. There's no E in front! I'm a meterologist -- see below!
Fujita Scale of Tornado Ratings
F4 Devastating tornado 207-260 mph Well-constructed houses leveled; structures with weak foundations blown off some distance; cars thrown and large missiles generated.
F5 Incredible tornado 261-318 mph Strong frame houses lifted off foundations and carried considerable distances to disintegrate; automobile sized missiles fly through the air in excess of 100 meters; trees debarked;
You must not be a vey well educated meteroligist, it is called an EF-5 Enhanced Fujita, it is all the weather channel refers to anymore as well, and, the NWS here in Iowa called it an EF-5
I could not believe that tornado was on the ground for 43 miles and was 1.5 miles wide just north of Dunkerton. I was chasing to the north of there because I thought the storms would travel more NEasterly, rather than west, but I did experience shingles and other debris falling for 15 miles.
That stormy system was headed straight for my town in the direction of my neighborhood. This thing was HUGE. "twister" cant even make a comparison to how big it was and how much damage it caused.
The Doppler images from this tornado were huge, I followed the weather statements as it occured, and each one told of grim situation as it moved through the areas hit.

actually it was an EF5... on the lower end of an F5, but none the less, wind speeds over 200 mph.
levischultz 3 years ago 2
Do you mean to say EF5 is on the lower end of F5? That is incorrect

I believe the beginning of this footage belongs to KCCI.
You are against copyright laws by calling it yours.
Jozie1 3 years ago
it doesn't belong to KCCI. it belongs to the associated press. that shitty excuse for a news station doesn't own independent storm chaser teams.

you're a meteorologist in your own mind you mean... the scale used to rate tornadic damage in the USA is the Enhanced Fujita Scale. EF-?

"twister" might be one of the best comedies ever produced. ANY comparison with that movie and reality is a great laugh.
