A very powerful message! Organized religions are very successful in promoting the Golden Rule to govern their members' behavior towards other members. But most have almost totally failed at teaching the universality of the Golden Rule: that it should extend beyond one's fellow believers to the entire human race.

'Every religion emphasizes human improvement, love, respect for others, sharing other people's suffering.' and then however ignores its own advocation through the authorisation and condoning of the suppression, abuse and even murder of gay people around the world. Its a nice thought but until religions actually practice what they preach they will merely be hypocrites.

It took me a long time to come to the realization that all religions have tenets of loving one another. Christ Himself said God is love, so when we love one another, God abides in us. No matter what faith we are a part of, we all have equal access to God. Now, if only we could all realize that... :)
