  • whoever brought them into this country, for any reason, were freakin' idiots .... PERIOD!

  • doing a project on this a geography

  • The problem is that rhese fish take all the oxygen in the water and this stops other fish from breathing and kills them. Asian carps survive because they can breathe outside of water (the oxygen we breathe). Without the fishes this can seriously damage our ecosystem. So stop trying to protect and encourage the stupid Asian Carp!

  • yay go asian carp.... you can do it

  • I just hope they can keep them out of the Great Lakes! I hope that electric barrier at Chicago can keep them out!

  • if any of you gun hungry dumbasses would just fry one up and try them you would all see what your missing. we can do our part buy adding them to the dinnerplate twice a week. these are filter feeders so polutients dont stack up as bad in them like predator fish. i ate them for the first time wed and wow. white flakey meat that tasted better than any other freshwater fish ive eaten. even crappie. they are far better than catfish. theres no black slime or chinese men inside of these.white meat.

  • @catfishredneck88 The problem isnt that we cant eat them. Imagine what would happen if you went jetskiing in lake michigan or the ohio/illinois/mississippi river and got hit by one? You'd wreck your jet ski, and would probably drown or suffer a major injury if not death.

Now consider all the money the neighboring states gain from water sports (fishing, swimming, boating etc.) These huge fish literally choke out the native species as well as render the water unusable by a MAJOR industry.

  • what's the big deal? they're just fish, let them be free...

  • @iclark2400 they are killing the native species and wrecking the natural ecosystems, thats why we are trying to get them out and keep them from getting into the great lakes

  • @iclark2400 really....

  • @chuckyblack18 yes, really!! let the fish be free, let them go where they want to cos these are not aquarium fishies :D

  • @iclark2400 yah ok

  • @chuckyblack18 yah thank you

  • 3....2......1.....OMG THEYRE EVERYWHERE

  • Shoot all these mother fuckers! Stop fucking around talking about it, no permits, no bows, cage boats with loud motors and guns! Shotguns with buckshot! 12 gauge extended magazines! If we let biologists handle this matter they will fuck it all up! Any individual that spends their days on the water or in the woods can tell you a hell of alot more then a biologist! They are about as worthless as a DNR officer! If we don't do something, the Great Lakes are going to turn to shit.

  • Solution

Place a bounty on their head.@.25 cents per fish.

commercial fishermen would go hog wild.

Then use them as fertilizer and pet food.

  • i got the perfect idea. Drive down the river in a boat with a 12gauge birdshot and haul ass. Simple yet effective.

  • Considering how people overfish and deplete populations, I'm surprised that they haven't hired a bunch of fishermen to overfish that river and exporting them back as food to those Asian countries from whence they came.

  • You want to hear my permanent solution, put up a small hydro electric dam. If I am right the river flows from lake michigan south right? So if the fish are trying to go upriver to the lakes, it's going to be pretty tough through concrete. Then use the power to power chicago. It won't be enough power but it would be some.

  • @jtschid0910 There is active river commercial river transport heading downstream from Chicago to the Mississippi River. You can't damn the river.

  • @thirdbase314159 I was thinking more of putting a dam right where the river exits the lake. Just a thought.

  • how convinient for an eagle :)

  • good night. :)))

  • Some farms ground them into fertilizer but the need for them is near nothing.

  • They should not kill those asian carp...they should use their brain to gain money.... they should make a foods for dog make in asian carp...or for feeding fish or for fishing fish...they should use their brain..if that is not allowed to eat by people..well... they should use their brain make it dog food.cat food or any kinds of animal....and they will gain money

  • would love to "release" a bullet into their skull ..... for good luck, though!

  • zapp them stunn them net them and fkn burn m

  • LoL!! You want revenge? ,.Sure,... WAM, head shot! XD

  • While living in Winona, Minnesota we used to catch these fish and smoke them. With out a doubt the most delicious tasting smoked fish I have ever eaten. As far as the fish not belonging in the river, well nature will expand and flow where it will go and humans have no "real" control of what nature dictates. Being angry at fish is absurd a bunch. Go fishing. Eat fish. Be happy.

  • Why don't we start eating them? Is the river too polluted? Seems like if we weren't so well fed on other foods in America, we'd be eating these fish. Fish n chips

  • pet food. easy catch, pest to be wiped out...problem becomes a solution.

  • minigun=problem solved

  • they should not kill them...but they can selll it and use the founds fir charity

  • @ericsantiago011 that's the funniest thing iv heard, would u buy and eat a fish that live off mud, algae and shit?

not many people eat carp because theyre filthy.they are pests and over here its illegal to throw them back into the river after youve caught them.

  • @luffy0190 if i were them i will catch that and make an experiment on it.. hahah toruture... or they should seel it... and use to make it foods for dog..fish.... anykind of animals...they should use their brain..

  • @ericsantiago011 lol now that would be a great investment, catch em and process it into cat food.people wouldnt even know what fish it is.i got a friend doing jail time on a minimum security joint on a big farm.they would sneak over to a nearby river with their home made rods/hooks to fish and 95% the catch is only carp.they make fish cakes out of em but before they kill it they leave the fish in a big bucket of water for a week to flush out all the dirty crap.

  • people should wear a helmet at gears so for them will not harm...

  • next time you eat a frozen fish dinner from Swanson try not to think of this fish cuz that's what your getting.

  • their not doing anything about this! their just letting the population rise. Thank you for caring about our future!

  • If they have no known predators, introduce alligator gar...they'll keep them in check.

  • @Nomoreidsleft these fish are not native to any part of the states, nor this continent. Yes, it was our ignorance that brought them over here to keep ponds clean. These fish were never intended by nature to be here. It is our fault that thesefish are here, destroying our native species which do not deserve it. Therefor it is our responsibility to rid of these damn things. No matter how much you love trees and hugging them, we created the problem not mother nature. That is why they are doing this

  • the taste is disgusting ..that is why it is not exported....it is used to make protein extract...etc..nothing more and nothing less..

  • Nature does not obey international borders created by man. There is no such thing as a foreign species. If they can thrive, then they belong there otherwise they naturally get selected out. Otherwise humans would be considered the foreign invaders, we have infiltrated every corner of this earth and pushed out other animals, where ever we settle.

  • @Nomoreidsleft Or humans bring them like idiots to places that have no natural balance for that species. As has happened here. This is a sever unbalancing of the ecosystem. How about you do some reading and actually find out about these things rather than making stupid comments on youtube.

  • @Goingpostal1000 Everything man does is part of nature. For example when a bear eats berries, and craps in a different part of a forest, they help to spread the berries to a new location in the forest. What man does by introducing species to a place where they could not have gone on their own, it still part of nature. The bear spreads the berries because they taste good, and we spread the fish because we though they would benefit us in some way.

  • @Nomoreidsleft Humans, are yes natural, but we are intelligent enough that we posses the abilities to destroy nature by unbalancing it. And since MOST of us are smart enough to realize that we need nature, and natural processes to survive we realize that we must try and protect it the best we can. This is an uphill battle, mostly because of people like you. A bear spreading berries to a different part of his natural habitat is of course natural, and that berry is most likely supposed-

  • @Nomoreidsleft To be in that part of the Forrest. Where as Humans shipping carp from one area to another and letting them get loose. Which then out competes everything and threatens the ecology of a body of water is not. And since humans are smart (part of our nature) we know we must try and control this type of thing so that we don't lose our natural resources.. Now stop talking about stuff you know nothing about. If everyone thought like you we would just use up everything and be screwed.

  • @Goingpostal1000 It's spelled "forest". Forrest was in a movie. We don't let the carp get loose, they also have a bit of intelligence+natural ability, and escape on their own. Since the carp out competes other fish in this environment, they are rewarded with survival. Some want to control the carp's population because they feel they know better. If a species smarter than us decides that 6 billion humans infesting this planet just won't do, how would you react? Would you accept to be culled?

  • The best idea would be to send obama down the river and let him get smacked in the face by one of those things. Maybe it'll knock some sense into him to do something about these carp.

  • @michiganfan51 .....i think fish is obama's least concern at this point. i rather see invading fish than invading arab towel heads with bomb on their chests

  • @vballpr0 Wow you are so pathetically ignorant. How many Arab's invaded the United States? What was the number, 18? How many Arabs live in this world? Do you even know what an Arab is? Pakistani's aren't Arab's you disgraceful fuck. There exists a difference between country gentlemen and redneck white trash/trash of any kind, you are the latter you ignorant fool. It makes me sick to realize the poor level of education and intelligence in this beautiful country. Not Good!

  • You want revenge!!! Lol

  • Purse seine em, purse em down, let em drown, release em. Or let me come over there and strike em for a living. I could catch a few hundred thousand pounds per week. Work better than a dip net. lol

  • why dont they put a physical barrier? thats a time bomb waiting to go off.

  • I got to know already that Chinese have made a deal with IL for importing the fish.

  • Look at how that guy hit the fish with a wooden stick. If an asian person did that, peta faggets would be all over him and accused asians of being cruel to fishes.

  • @VNSki They already accuse asians of being cruel to dolphins and whales.

  • Please, let's not place the blame on Canadians here. the source is clear, at least at this point, Mississippi. Us "regular Joes" up here, are WELL connected to our environment.(at least in Northern Ontario). We have the provincial Forestry institiute, the Lamprey Eel control headquarters all here. WE have always been quite aware of invasive species, and the threats they pose. It's up to an international effort to try to stem the tide BEFORE the Great Lakes!

  • These fishes are good food. I remembered I ate these type of fish in China.

  • @mmtheman Maybe in their native habitat, but have you ever had white fish, trout, bass from either the Great Lakes, or any of thousands of inland lakes?? They are INVASIVE!!

  • why not put greed into the equation we see it happen all the time. Logging, mining, drill for oil all of which are detrimental to ecosystems but does it stop no, because people are making money. It naive of you to think otherwise.

  • @missman009 and how would selling fish in bulk to 3rd world countries make you any money to cover the costs of boats, gas, employees, packaging, shipping overseas, and finally distributing the product, when does people have no money to buy it.

  • at least they not dead like in the golf of Mexico

  • dam this is like the Chinese's over population

  • @FunComedyBoys Not as bad as India...

  • instead of looking at it as a disaster you can make millions off this resource!

  • @b3llefor3va We don't want to create a demand for these fish.

  • @missman009 Why not create demand? They don't taste bad I heard and we can use them to feed prisoners. High demands will definitely reduce their numbers.

  • @cumitran with a demand there will need to be a constant supply. Therefore they will never be completely wiped out of our rivers, especially if someones job or bank account, or i guess belly depended on their harvest. These fish truely are a great evil and their exsistence needs to be purged from our waters.

  • @missman009 you wont be creating a demand you will be fixing the problem and making money in the progress which can be used for other things like research, hiring people, creating work.

  • @b3llefor3va how would you be making money if there is no demand? True it will sort of fix the problem short term but creates long term problems. Like what do we do if we eventually clear out all the carp and hundreds of people livelyhoods depend on them. Do we say tough, find other jobs or keep the rivers stocked with fish so they can make money. Really it'll just create a mess and the rivers will never be free of Asian Carp.

  • @missman009 There is a demand for the fish in 3rd world countries, as for short term it will be at least 10 years of hearvesting before they clean the river out, as it is they are losing money by hiring people to kill it and it goes to waste, as for jobs im sure people can be told its a on/off job and america has alot of unemployed people so im sure alot of them will jump at a chance to work, i know i would.

  • @b3llefor3va Then in 10 years when the fish are gone will just be creating another famine. And if the issue is losing money then explain how is there any gain if we'd hire more people then ship the fish and give it away for free.

  • @missman009 10 years of selling the fish in bulk will make millions still after paying everyone etc, so it is upto whoever made that money to do what they want with it, dont factor greed into it, if they want to use the money to fix the river then so be it the millions get pumped into the river rehabilitation, everything pays for it self.

  • in Romania we catch them whith anchors...it's fun!!!

  • If a boat brings them up then a guy with a bagbipe would bring all them up.

  • why you don't build a cat food industry......if you do that ....you'll be a rich man!

  • if you put koi in the mississipi would they be invasive?

  • @Theoccasionalcoop Invasive..yes...but I don't think they ferocious eaters and compete for food. I think they are mostly bottom dwellers.

  • haha i will go throw asian carp in u canadian great lake

  • @smallblocksupercharg fine. but a)its illegal and you will be arrested, and b)you would be soely responsible for killing out every other species of fish

  • @coconut358 haha ok thankyou you have inspire me to go net tons of asian carp and throw it in the great lake

  • i dont get why these fishes are problems someone please explain this to me

  • @vegasbabii101. Me neither. Fish is fish. Stop complaining and start canning, freezing and making fish oil. Looks like much needed jobs to me.

  • they said nobody has been killed by any of these yet, but recently, a woman WAS killed by was of these... she was hit hard enough in the head by one...OMG

  • It's funny how these hicks originally brought the Carp in, but now are desperately trying to get them removed. Good for the Carp.

  • I think the issue is the giant ones aren't suitable for eating, even in China. But they are sill a resource. Why not harvest them for fish meal, for chicken, hog feed, or cat food.

  • Whoever exported the fish in the states would have to be the most hated mans my the locals

  • I am from China and I know that Chinese like to eat these fishes. If it can be harvested in large volume, why not export to China? If the cost of the fish is not high, you may contact me at chen678@gmail.com.

  • @kcrobottube66

the main problem people are working on is how to harvest the fish from our rivers and keep them fresh for the long journey to china. i can tell you the person who figures out that problem will become a wealthy man

  • @kcrobottube66 According to an article in the New Yorker magazine (10/25/2010), one company in a small town in Illinois is doing just that. Apparently, though, the problem is far too big to be solved by just harvesting the fish, since the issue is that the carp obliterate all other fish species in the waters.

  • @kcrobottube66 it's not that simple, it's messing with all our ecosystems, and may wipe out our native species! Harvest all you want, the damage is done! Never mind commercial fisheries in the Great Lakes, how about all the inland lakes. Once our native habitat are wiped out, there's HUGE trouble. Just DON'T blame CANADA! Where are they now? They're not travelling south from the North! They're in YOUR waterways! They didn't get in the Mississippi via Toronto, for heaven's sake!!

  • @kcrobottube66 There is already a chinese factory in the Mississippi cathing carps and exporting them to asia

  • @kcrobottube66 yes, that's what I was thinking, eat them.

  • @kcrobottube66 yea shit man if there safe to eat why not have a free open season on them shit i eat the hell outta them if they werent unhealthy

  • @kcrobottube66 The problem is that the cost of harvest, then shipping would make them to expensive for most to buy on the Chinese end. Some people are looking into it I know, especially in utah where the government is removing 5 million pounds a year. (Mostly common carp.)

  • @kcrobottube66 is it true that you guy it them while they are still alive?

  • @kcrobottube66 Looks like the chinese have already put them in our rivers, so thanks just what we need more of your crap fish. However now it's a felony to pull this crap.

  • @Mr2505federal . These fishes were imported by an american fellow who wanted to breed them. Unfortunately after some massive floods some escaped and eventually made their way through to the Mississipi river. It sure is unfortunate but it has nothing to do with the Chinese. Don't get me wrong, if I were there, I would shoot them all! They are disgusting, murderers and putting at risks the life of pre-historic specimens! It'd be interesting to see what the gov is going to do about it.

  • @olipint Not a hell of alot they can do unless the American people are willing to foot one hell of a bill. In a lake is one thing but a river thats something else entirely. One thing they can do is offer a bounty on them. If I lived around there I would be setting up a boat with nets around the boat and let them carp jump right into the nets. Let the goverment offer a $5 a peice bounty. I would say you fix a pontoon boat up with a catch net system all around it for a couple hundren

  • Teach These white People How to Make hot Spicy Fish Curry( Asian Carp) , with pich of leamon , and eat with rice. omg ummm, yummy

that is the reason we don't see asian carp in asia like we see here lol

  • They make for a fine fish dinner. Eat them! And soon they will be overfished and fighting for their lives.

  • @xxnoangelxx Lol, are you serious...these things are the worst tasting fish there is, hence the abundance. Thats why when you catch one, you kill it, and leave it, cause its a worthless species.

  • @Dielonthug dont all fish taste the same???

  • just like mexicans...lol..and roaches..breeding that is..and taking over

  • Comment removed

  • @BudPeters44 ; you're an asshole!

  • @EFISHANT oh shut up...it would probly be funny to you if it was not true..and i don't hate anyone..its just an comparence is all..

  • @BudPeters44 CALL YOURSELF CHRISTIAN AND MAKING RACIST COMMENTS---EVENTUALLY YOU WILL BE A MINORITY--DICKHEAD

  • lol bap ,,,goodnight

  • North Korea has Asian carps, but the problems is they are hard to find become most of them are on dinning tables.

  • This is funny. Why Asian carps are not problems in Asia?

Carps taste good. People here are spending big money fighting Asian carps in vain. They will get into great lakes, just a matter of time, no matter how hard we try.

Eat them, they taste good, or sell them to Asian countries and make good money.

  • Such big carp, each head would cost at least $5 in fish market in Asia!!!

Export it, that's real opportunity! Just imagine fish farm in Asia invest a lot to raise that, but it can be found in nature in N.A. and to be an problem!! Can't believe

  • Haven't seen the whole video so maybe this is mentioned later on. Most fish hide under the water. These bastards come to you. What's the problem. We put a man on the moon. We can figure out how to kill fish too...I hope:)

  • Seems like common sense solution to me. The fish obviously have a weakness. They expose themselves by jumping out of the water. So why not have a team of boats going up and down the river, revving their engines and making the fish jump out. Have the boats equipped with huge nets or better yet and electric net so when the fish hits it, it's zapped and killed. Like a bug light so to speak. This will also fertilize the waters from their decaying bodies.

  • OMG Bill...what a good question you have!!!....that's what should be done...i think!!!....this is kind of scary....as i live in IL...

  • i love when right before the guy hits the fish with the stick he calls him a 'son of a bitch'

  • that boat makes them do that? damn gimmie one of them and a dozen grenades. mmmm good.

  • How do they taste?

  • So now it's "boater safety" which is the big concern. Right. We are going to spend more money which doesnt exist so drunken rednecks can smoke their cigarettes and drink their beer without having to worry about getting "killed" by a plankton eating fish. Nature's way of telling you, your done. Perhaps this fish is the only way to combat the disgusting pollution in these waterways. The algae caused by pollution is what is making them thrive in the first place, or does the cause not matter?

  • It destroys our economy if we let asian carps reach chicago lake.

  • inventing a shredder like, on top of a boat (like a paper shredder). Give them a good jolt. Who ever jumps in the boat is doom!..

  • Why don't the military use these fish to practice shooting? :D

  • you might not want to eat all the asian carp cause it tastes horable!!!if you like it eat it.

  • the esiest way to get rid of the Asian Carp is to catch as much as you can and then find a hungry troll and feed it.

  • wait till 4 july so u'll see fire works XD =D

  • put speakers around the river and play justin bieber and they will die or put music on and a eletrical field across the river and watch em jump and fry

  • @BabyCrystalNguyen they should dynamite them get them all bothered and jumping in an area and throw dynamite out at them. BOOM!!!! dead fish, noisy and fun to watch fish guts everywhere!

  • open season on asian carp

  • can u eat them?

  • electric shock in the illinois river.... 1,290 volts!! Zap those mother fuckers!! -TX

  • lols "you want revenge?" "sure" 1:19 haehhaha

  • But are they any good to eat? People who release them for good luck are ignorant. Would they also release rats into their own houses?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • i say mabye find a disease that fish in america are immune to but not asian fish.

  • were exactly is ground zero at????

  • I think that they should have hundreds of bowfishing tournaments on the river. Then have a big company like Purina dog food sponsor the tournaments. Give all the fish to Purina to feed our dogs and yet the asian carp numbers are cut.

  • you mean our military doesn't have a machine with enough jolt to kill these fugly things?

  • the 'grind 'em up as fertilizer' arguement holds the most water here. i think people could form quite a few startup outfits and make good money doing exactly that.

if the few vietnamese/chinese-american populations along the missisippi wanna catch and cook em, more power to em...........theres no way id touch a carp fillet with a 10' pole myself..........

  • there isnt much plankton/algae in lake superior. its a subarctic deepwater lake. not prime carp habitat. they like cool water, yes, but not outright COLD water.

  • Now a pathogen! That is all we need is another great idea from "intelligent" people to bring about more unintended consequences. When will we ever learn? Why do you think they are called Asian Carp? These fish evolved for a different environment. Stop messing around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • put a bug zapper in the water

  • why does nobody take a shotgun and just shoot em out of the air?

  • Fish em just for fun then just kill them. Also it would be a blast to snag them! Keep them out of the great lakes, and the problem could easily improve if we all participate.

  • you cant eat these bad boys

  • give a redneck as many beers as payment with shotgun shells and TNT and there wont be any asian carp in the world within a week.. thats the redneck guarantee!

  • 1american to 13china 1bigbass to 13 asain carp

  • Wow who knew some fish could cause such commotion... -_-

  • use dynamite! over kill them and then repop with native fish...but that sound to costly so iono

  • we should feed africa with these fish

  • Turn them into a fish food pellets and other fish food product.

  • The good thing is that we here up in Toronto have polluted Lake Ontario so much that there is no life in the water so these Asian carp won't have any food

    Humans win again

  • @theodigital there is tons of life in the lake ,, you obviously know fk all...

  • Carp, YUM YUM.....

  • Why aren't these fish being imported to Ethiopia, Noth Korea, and other starving countries?

  • @Bill1275w

    i know right

get a big ass net and catch them all and feed it to starving country

  • United Allies and immense in its grace Poland (righteous people) will give you advice. This may be creating a new national sport called shooting carp from a boat something like clay pigeon shooting only with blood;]

  • @Bill1275w well said man!!!!!!!! but political hypocrisy is all dey sell!!!!!!! :P

  • @Bill1275w

    wow

this was exactly on my mind,

  • @Bill1275w because weve skrewed up enough importing species. these carp are also to boney to eat.

  • you cant fish these fish out or hardly even lower the amount of these because there is thousands of square miles of water they are in. there is a lot of backwater that boats cant even enter. also they reproduce like crazy. i live on the illinois river and cant throw out a shad bait net without catching a large asian carp. i dont jetski any more for fear of being whacked by a 20lb flying fish when im going 50mph+.
