i got into ministry in 86, since then ive been a fan. The Land of Rape and Honey album is the one I absolutely relate to in all aspects and every degree.
Damn this music just makes me wanna do a line... Haven't touched the stuff since college but I can see the attraction, especially if I was at a show...
I used to manage a club called "the showcase" in sa.,tx....ministry played the 'in case you didnt feel like showing up" tour there...they fuckin blew the roof off..when al walked in the back door he had a ziplock bag full of mushrooms..he dosed out my whole crew..it was my intro to industrial music
yes! old school Ministry! I wish they had released In case...VHS on DVD. The original video release appears to be a collector's item as far as I'm concerned.
this isnt old.look back to the 80s stuff...if you think that ministry always sounded like this i dont know what to say other than i hope you like thier old stuff.i like both.
of course I like their more older stuff when they were playing songs from Twitch and Pailhead project. I have a bootleg DVD filmed at Toronto, in 1988 and I tell you it is a hell of a show they had there. I even prefer a few tracks from Ministry's debut album. :)
Can't and won't ever forget this song! Lollapalooza 1992, Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. After having a guy land on my head during this song, knocking me out for a bit, I was able to get up and fight my way to the front row for the next band, headliners, Red Hot Chili Peppers! This will always be my FIGHT SONG!! Love ya, Ministry!
I fucking love this song! The best thing about it is that, more than any other song, it always seems to sync up with anything going on in any show or video: Cops, Fox News, War Movies, Mary Poppins, Teletubbies...
I notice how people ignore the fuck the churck, fuck jesus part, and focus on fuck the jews part. Ministry is extremely against nazism. There against conformity as a whole not a racist sentiment at all. Religion is a beautiful thing when practiced right. When your beliefs leave your home and come into mine i.e. abortion bombings, and planes flying into buildings. Thats when i say fuck you, fuck your church, and fuck your god. Live and let live. You close minded fucks.

I don't know for sure what they believe in or what their intent is. I just know that they are anti politics & religion, which is understandable given our surroundings.
But the end of this video he says a lot of things that disturb me as a christian. Still love their music. I have read some of their lyrics and know one of the producers who worked with them back then, who assures me they aren't Satanic. Just wanted confirmation.
Ministry has a new cd of covers with Burton C Bell (Fear Factory) that was released about a month ago. Its awesome. And I think I like accapella version of this song more than the original. Oh yea and Ministry isnt a skinhead group. Al has had long hair his whole career for fuck sake.

You see the word Sigmata as Religious by nature. But if you look up the work in the Dictionary it also means....a mark of disgrace or infamy; a stain or reproach, as on one's reputation.
Now trying to decifer the song is up to you. He can be talking being screwed over by somebody.
that brings back memories of my clubbing day in the dallas night club sean. the place was deep ellum and the music was fucking loud. this was the song that everybody got fucked up to. brings back memories.
billjesusgates, i did not name a specific bar. I am talking about in the 80's deep ellum was not where the gay bars were. all of the gay bars were in oaklawn. you would know that if you were from Dallas and were out and about in the 80's. NOW days deep ellum is nothing but sleezy gay bars. the shine of deep ellum has worn off. RIP
Slayer is still my favorite band to see live followed by clutch. Clutch has brutal pits. the first time I seen them at harpos a guy got kicked in the forehead so hard it looked like his skull was split. He was bleeding so much that it reminded me of being front row at a gwar show. ;)
I guess sin is playing guitar for them now. I first seen him at a Static-X show at the machine shop. That was a bad ass show. If you have ever been to this venue you know that there is only a small baracade between you and a knee level stage. I have a bunch of guitar picks from this venue and harpos. One from Prong, static-X, Ministry, and a few more. I also have a shirt that was signed by four members of slipknot, the lead singer of machine head, all of Coal chamber, and Amen.
The first time I seen Ministry was at St. andrew's hall in Detroit. Hans und Gretel I think they are called opened. they were followed by Thrill Kill Cult!!! Then Ministry came on. The venue was far from packed but the band played like the place was full. You know they switch guitarist alot. I was up front head banging the whole time so there fill guitarist asked me to hang out for a while after the show. My cousin is head of security there so I did. Their tour bus smelled like ravioli!
I would like to get back to the music. One of my fav things about ministry in concert is that they don't use all of the stage gimmics and fake shit. I wish more bands would look up to them. Al is an industrial metal mastermind.

Zoroastrianism was definitely one of the first. Fortunately we can forgive Nietzsche and blame it on a lack of historical accuracy prevalent in the times which he lived.
