Man, this really looks fun. It's hard to believe I've never heard of this. It seems to be an interesting take on the gameplay of Frogger. I wish I had this as a child : (
seeing a game like this makes me think that i am lucky.. i have get to experience the fun times with good games like this.
also. i have seen how the graphic have evolved into what it is today..
it is also amazing how a game like this can be fun to play after so many years,
addictive. fun, fluid and all that . this shows that a game does not need good graphics to be good :) but try to tell that to a kid that is born in 2000 XD or some years before :P
I don't understand you when your ice house is full you have to GET ICE TO MAKE A HOLE IN THE ICE HOUSE and at night wouldn't the ice house melt from the fire? Also how do you make a fire with nothing in the middle of nowhere?
My favourite ever game on the 2600...and the only one I actually got the pro status on out of any Activision game at the time...I still recall that my all time high score was 186,000
@ldma My fav 2600 game too, even tho it's repetitive like almost all atari games it never got really boring, and you could quickly become really good and handle it when it got fast, and it never reached a point where it became impossible, it was just a matter of how long your concentration would last.
Easily one of the best games to hit the 2600. If you ever need to know how to write a clone of another game (or two) then you need to study this game. I used to play this for hours. A B+? Pffft!
One of the genuine classics on the 2600 in my opinion and good memories of playing this one. I seem to remember my Dad got quite good at this game :) Nice to see it being recognised as a quality title...
My friend Aleem has been telling me to check this game out for years and I finally got around to it. Activision made some of the best games for the 2600,especially Kaboom! and Tennis and I just picked up Freeway today.
I spent literally DAYS on this game as kid. Yeah, yeah.. I did have friends too!
This was a quality game, highly playable and intuitive controls.. loved how as it got faster you could jump further and and further and your split second decision making had to become more acute.
Seeing as this game was made in America they are going off of 40 degrees Fahrenheit not Celsius. But either way water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit so the water shouldn't be frozen anyways. But this is an excellent game and anybody with an Atari 2600 should pick it up.
I thought there was a party in the igloo

I was awesome at this game. If you got a really good score a fish icon appeared below your score. :)

Activision had a lot of titles for the Atari, it's not surprising you reviewed a chain of their games.
Nice work!

anyways, games never 100% follow through with real life physics.
which is what makes them so appealing =D
