Japanese voice actors are totally better English VAs when it comes to Japanese stuff, there is simply no denying that. When it comes to English stuff, it is vice versa. To me original is always the best intended way to play or watch. Only in the original you can get the culture in which it was created.

I mean can't Japanese people learn English? All other countries play the English version. Mexicans, Chinese, Mongolians or whatever we play in english and understand and enjoy the game. What's japan's fucking problem? Just trying to be special? Trying to prove that they are as good as USA? Or is it just because that Sony is half Japanse and Half American? It is ME who should complain. I live in Germany and nearly every major game release gets dubbed with HORRIBLE voice overs + most of times they change the context of the dialogs during the translation, which makes most games hardly enjoyable. I ALWAYS have to import games from UK. :(
his voice is much better than the american or german. i have the uncensored ( uncut ) version of GoW 3 and it's really nice. i need 3 trophies for platin.

Im glad that japan recognizes great voice overs over here oh and I forgot to mention they got our release of Dissidia with the ENGLISH voice cast but with japanese text/subs because we got a spiffy version of dissidia that they didn't I try to ignore weeabos they don't appreciate english localization
I agree. The Japanese voice for Kratos doesn't even sound good... They could at least have him do the other screams as well, they only made him dub the normal sentences. It sucks ^^
@jeroenvt2 It is a shame that japan just doesn't have a stronger appeal to dubbing foreign material that they do for their own stuff. I think people really need to understand that japan is a xenophobic country for the most part, sure they have some people who are facinated by foriegners but gaijin can't really make a living over there, and unless foriegn material is REALLY popular then they will have little to no cause of concern for it.
@Arppis that is something to wonder about usually english is easier to translate into the nations within the UK. One kicker though is japanese love the english voice actors for their games and the games that originated over here. The japanese aren't biased, so why are anime fans? In fact I think anime dubs are almost non existant on american television since anime fans sob over original japan dub save for funimation and ocean studios who dub and market the dubs for dvd releases. You're misinterpreting the argument - what people want is the quality of the original voice. There are so many subtleties to language and cultural ad libs that nothing beats the performance in the original context. Unless a game is high-profile, english dubs on japanese games often suck, and I have no doubt that japanese dubs over english games suck as well.
@SilvrDragon52 There are people who don't even prefer T.C Carson as Kratos so the argument isn't exactly misinterpeted it's just from others views and what I've learned is my standpoint, there are current popular english voice overs who are getting adept at mimicing the japanese counterparts to some degree. People are divided on the issue so that leads to where things are now, you can't fully sway one side to another some people want to better understand the material without relying on fansubs

I always wondered why people went crazy over the japanese voices. this is just my opinion, but I prefer to watch a show without having to read stuff all the time because it isnt my native language. also, the voices in the japanese dub are almost always annoying. at least with the english dub, I understand wtf they are saying. but then again, anime in general has fallen out of style since 05.
@SilentBlues23 here's the thing, when it comes to acting sure there are differences between english and japanese in terms of how the norms of directing are for english and japanese studios however I've listened to both english and japanese dubs of anime to really not prefer one over the other because I know what to expect when I listen to both. And people need to cut the crap with english voice overs we have plenty of great voice talents to this day, many of them I wish would voice anime today

I forgot to note earlier this for those of us living in Japan but the game is heavily censored here. The violent death scenes of many of the main characters and nudity are nixed and there is as yet no plan to reverse this.
If we were to be apropriate Kratos and everyone else should have spoken dialogue in ancient greek with subtitles.
His voice sounds pretty much as though in japanese as it does in english in my opnion. Except that his grunts and shouts are still with the american voice, what the hell.
@CaraDoSobretudo Well considering all the liberties taken with Greek mythology in this series, it is probably for the better that ancient Greek was not used. Though that would have been pretty cool!
I was disappointed with the Japanese release of this game. The PSP release distributed by capcom here had a choice of voice tracks but the PS3 one did not. Even though I understand everything that is going on, it really takes away from the experience because to me Kratos in Japanese just sounds like every other "tough" bonehead in the Samurai dramas here.
well it isn't to much different other than how deep the voice is.... the actually not that different seeing as kratos in all the god of wars is ALWAYS yelling lol... so im sure it sounds pretty close :p
