  • OW WOW .........ABSORBING ......

  • This wonderful song just makes me feel down.. But I suppose I like feeling down, so it's okay.

  • When i travel the stars. See the rings of Saturn. Earth becomes a distant light in itself. I will be listening to this song. Thinking of where humanity has come from to where it is. Traveling the Stars.

  • Thank Pandora for introducing me to this guy.

  • this song hurts feelings...makes me think the hard times ive been through when i broke up with my ex gf...

  • God Bless.

  • nice for driving late at night, with the top down.

  • GODDAMN!! its really good!

  • masterpiece.

  • Comment removed

  • This song reminds me of an afternoon shower in its twilight

  • i put together a video with this song, check it out if ya got a spare min. :)

  • i bought this cd after hearing one song. sometimes pandora really comes through for you

  • @sumguynamedking PANDORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • @sumguynamedking Agreed. It has gotten me multiple times, and I regret none of it.

  • this is what i keep saying whem im high and go into a bad trip

  • I smell a young artist paying homage to his musical influences :)

  • Reminds me of a train ride to Oranienburg from Berlin I once took in a melancolic December landscape. Very much a "German ambience". In a good sense though. Thumbs up for this.

  • I smell a BoC rip-off :) Still a great song though - no doubt.

  • @d41k4n - Shame BOC have released bugger all in over 5.5 years. :-(

  • i feel sorry for people that only get to hear his awful techno dj sets

  • Ulrich Schnauss Put's this on a whole Differant Demension of Ambiance. It's like being somewhere out beyond our Universe on a whole other Realm of our Human

Understanding & Existstance You Have 2 Agree. I Love his Mindscape of well Complext of True Form. Ulrich Schnauss must be an Alien ET . So are you with me! Do you understand! Because I Do After I've been in the feild of Ambient Electronic Arts my name is D tech2 alway's at you're side!!......................................

  • @CuervoBlack06 my videos -> in settings of this track -> on the bottom the last option you can allow for mobiles ;)

Auf deutsch heißt die Option bei mir "Verbreitung"

  • Was ist eigentlich ein "Molf"?

  • Hey ... could you allow this track for external Devices (Iphone) in settings please? :)

  • First time I'm hearing this - it's like SuperChill ...

  • I found myself in 2003 quite desperate, yet inside secretly hopeful in my heart lying in a bed when I listened to a random internet radio-station... it started playing Schnauss' 'Molfsee' and I found my soul-brother instantly through the awakening exprerience this brought forth. Thank you.

  • I'm not listening... I'm absorbing...

  • what is the voice saying?

    "are you there? NO!"

  • thank you Last Fm for putting this great music on my M83 station (just bought "Trains Passing By & A Strangely Isolated Place" for £6.85 each off Zavvi.com ;-)

  • @andyfox01 Best money you ever spent

  • fuck cant believe i just discovered this guy!

  • this tune equates to: 'True-Melancholy"

  • Are you there?

    ...Hello!

  • absolutelly melancholica electronika...ulrich you are the best!!!

  • Anyone know the sample source?

  • Such a cool melanchony tune.

  • No doubt most listening here hopefully have discovered Eno's Apollo...?

  • Music such as this tends to have it's own vivacity and character... like it was created in a different world... by another species. Melodies as beautiful as these really shine through humanity to an extent where we can stop and gawp at one another and realize how deep our emotions travel. Beautiful work sir Ulrich. You send my mind into places I cannot fathom without you.

  • I like Nobody's home Molfsee, Blumenthal

  • Good track, great artist, but...it sounds like on this track he has been listening to Boards of Canada. Still very cool!

  • @meshlife88 Boards of canada !!!!!:D

  • Contemplative vibes... I simply love it

  • this song is , i think the best of its particular flavor , it is not nearlly long enough

  • lol people commenting on ulrich's music, sayin its like BoC are wrong. >.>

BoC is more random and slightly boring. Atleast Ulrich can keep your attention for a whole track.

  • @Haraldur34

maybe "some" chord progressions are similar.. but no they,re not the same..

  • @Haraldur34 Ulrich's stuff seems way more composed like a classical piece of music.

I like both groups, but Ulrich's melodies and textures just do it more for me.

  • wow, i havent heard this track in about 8 years, anyone who likes this track should check out 90 degrees south,

  • Is he somehow connected to Boards of Canada? Sounds like them :)

  • @mainiomainio

    very similar

  • no!

  • Nice Boards of Canada rip-off :D

  • Music discovery. Ulrich kicks some fucking ass.

  • I am awed how his use of tone and rhythm can have such a profound effect on the deepest part of my soul. He must have been put on earth to tell us that when all is said and done, it's going to be all right.

  • Amazing, but I do wonder what he's saying those few times speech is included...

  • Sounds like Boards Of Canda, lovin it.

  • @QuantumBasis exactly my thought when i first listened ulrich schnauss

  • @QuantumBasis - Shame BOC seem to have completely dropped off the Radar.. Their last EP (TCH) was over 5.5 years ago - Far to long a-gap

  • @QuantumBasis I can still see those monkeys riding their bicycles.

  • Ulrich Schnauss never disappoints

  • Clever clever man. This is very powerful, dreamlike and melancholy, my favourite kind of ambient chill........

  • Oh my god... this fucking amazing.

  • this is just excellent, sheer brilliance.

  • sounds like your're walking in deep jungle with 1000 year old trees all around, raindrops falling on your skin, beautiful mountains wich go through the rugget terrain and just walking someplace to the unknow drawn by the beautiful music of Ulrich Schnauss. just like a dream...

  • this is beautifull

  • A wonderful sound!

  • his music taps into the subconscious mind

  • I could listen to this song on a loop.....

  • @THEPrincessHappi That's pretty much what I've done since I first heard it! :-)

  • lol the rain at the end, I was like what... is it raining? xD nice song 5/5

  • This song makes me think of butterscotch.

  • I can totally see this ...wait you do mean the candy right?

  • yeah, like butterscotch morsels or cookies.

  • Sooo with ya!!! lol that's too cool!

  • This song played in my dream last night, I was flowing down a super fast river. I wasnt even scared, Idk why, but it was really relaxing. the sky was a flourecent glowing white, and the river eventually turned into an ice crystal blue-clear water fall and i fell so slowly down it. and the water I fell into extended infinetly in all directions.Idk, but this song goes so perfectly with it.I wish i could put my dream up on youtube :c

  • in ur dream (from comment on "Ulrich Schnauss - Molfsee") what did the land around the river look like because i think i may know a place just like ur dream.

  • for some odd reason, the ground was like padded xD lol, red and blue rubber pads that like martial arts places use to fight on. i doubt you know that place hahah. what were you thinking of anyways?

  • That's a great dream! Sounds like it's about eternal security.

  • how so? I know nothing about the meaning of dreams

  • ill send it to ur inbox =D

  • @yummycars: dream uploading wont be implemented by youtube until 2035

  • Schnauss' music has a strong semblance to Boards Of Canada, but I suspect it's more because of shared musical influences. BoC excel at atmosphere, but I feel Schnauss' music is often stronger melodically and harmonically.

All that matters in the end is that "Far Away Trains Passing By" is filled to the brim with lovely music. Go get it!

  • I don't mean to tarnish your comment, it depends how you regards certain things. But, I suspect there are drug references in both artists. Boards of Canada, without a shade of doubt, and this is why they are a little more alternative in their composition than Schnauss.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer This tune sounds like Boards but a lot of Ulrich's stuff doesn't. Ulrich relies less on samples and is a stronger musician. That is me being brutal because I love Music Has A Right To Children.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer hell naw

  • i could watch anything to this music, but i'd perfer the ocean or the sun :)

  • I feel sorry for the people that haven't yet discovered Ulrich's music.

  • @BlackmoonUK I discovery, i like

  • @BlackmoonUK

i feel sorry for Ulrich who made 2 very disappointing albums after this one. How is such a thing possible, I wonder. Still, a track like Molfsee is enough to know the man is a genius of the rarest kind.

  • @BlackmoonUK I don't. In fact, I envy them. They have whole new ethereal landscapes to explore, it'll all be new to them. I think it would be more apt to say that I feel sorry for the the people who will never discover Ulrich's music.

  • @BlackmoonUK Then show it to them, that's what I do:)

  • @BlackmoonUK It is our responsibility as Ulrich Schnauss fan to introduce him to them. I do it all the time with Facebook.

  • "Are you there?"

    "Hello"

  • Are you there..................? OH!

Okay, maybe that's not what's being said, but it sounds like it to me.

I try and spread Ulrich's music around as much as humanly possible. I've been infatuated with his music ever since I first discovered him back in ~2004. I'll never forget the first time I heard a clip of 'On My Own' (If you put that song on, fast forward to around 1:20...that buildup is what I heard and instantly fell in love with his work). What a true musical genius!

  • @atreyu179 its been a long time since ive felt this great about an artist.....its good to be alive!!!!!!!!!!

  • @atreyu179 I know exactly what you mean, I first fell in love with his music when I heard mondays - paracetamol, it is probably the single greatest most relaxing chill out track I've heard.

  • this song is so refreshing

  • *****

  • sure, when he COMPOSED this.. im agree.. very nice tune :)

  • He was heavily influenced by Boards Of Canada when he wrote this.

  • lol definitly i agree

  • OH my god.....

  • For those who come here to "argue" and ignore the real reason...."THE MUSIC"...there are other sites that you can go to!

  • its one amazing what i even heard i love it maby some one can write i privat more songs like that ? :) thx

  • ive heard this!

  • He says are you there "no" you retards

  • Pure Bliss!!!! Love it!!

  • its are you there? hello!

  • I can confirm he says "Are you mad?" and she replies "No!"

    Bloody ranking tune too!

  • i thinks his saying, "are you there? no"

  • Friggin beautiful !

  • I'd love to know which film/radio or whatever clip the guy's voice is off, and can never really make up my mind about what he says? The drum rhythm and slow fades in and out just sends me. Then that cheeky hi-hat cymbal riff. Its all just so incredibly and strangely melancholi-hypnotic.

  • I think he says "Are you deaf. Hello?"

  • I think he´s saying "How are you feeling? Good!"

  • @ukjim Perfectly excellent description of the rhythm tracks! You really nailed it! After having listened to this about 50,000 times in the last two days, I *think* the first few times they're saying, "Are you there?" "No!" But, the last time, I think it's, "Are you there?" "Hello!"

  • @blf112761 Ha Ha Ha Ha, I Do Feel You blf11276 Alien Intels of a much Higher Authority! ! ! !

  • @davestechnique2 LOL!!! Ulrich Schnauss is on Facebook, and I "liked" him - should just post there and ask, huh? Not only for this song, but also "Einfeld" and "Goodbye" ...

  • what a track ! reminds me of when i first heard this, i was impressed.. those drums are so PHAT. huge ambience :)

  • If you think that these drums are phat, you may want Max Melvin's "Sand" a try -- also a nice chillout groove, but those drums are really monstrous ;)

  • Ulrich's music is wonderful, I love a wide spectrum of music but it's this kind and much like it/ambiant and nu sexy jazz that takes me to a place I much like to be. . .

  • Gorgeous! This track along with Knuddelmaus are two of my favourite tracks by Ulrich Schnauss

  • Ulrich Schnauss is simply brilliant. This song sens me to another world.

  • This is one of his best tracks ever

  • Este tío es un genio de la música electrónica. Es una pena que no lo conozca más gente...

  • he's good live in concert too......!

  • The chords and their changes in this song are from another world.... another time. The word 'amazing' doesn't begin to do it justice!

  • I listen to this stuff all the time........the other day I was hearing this exact track and it started raining....I opened my room window and the affect was amazing....soon I was asleep.....this is how amazing Schnauss is with his work.

  • Best song on the album

  • Straight to Favorites....Gutted it has taken me so long to discover this guy.....superb track..!!

  • This is an incredible piece of music. I don't think I've ever heard of this guy before. It sounds a bit like one of Boards of Canada's moodier tracks. A brilliant choice - thanks for posting it. I'll have to buy his records.

  • This song is just brilliant and beautiful, alongside with Einfeld being the best of the album.

  • the best track from uli ever!!!!

    i love it

  • Now, this is real music!

    kinda similar to deep forest.

    song 5/5!

    thanks for posting this.
