Birch Bonsai

I just found out the bonsai iv been growing for nearly a year is a Downy Birch!

Any tips on what to do as its now 30cm tall and im afraid it'll keep getting taller?

I just collected a birch which i identified as a river birch yesterday actually. I potted and trimmed it today and now im hoping for the best.
