This excellent number reached number 2 in the UK charts in November 1969! Not a bad effort given the rather good competition it had at the time. Love the Union Jack bags in the video - all part of the I'm backing Britain campaign that was around at the time. Makes the vid a nice little period piece.

I like the song and most of the arrangement but that jazzy trumpet and twangy guitar at 0:33 and 1:34 fit in like gravy on ice cream. The latter reminds me of the theme from "The Rockford Files". I guess they were trying anything to break from their musical past at this point.

This was written by Alan Blakley / Len "Chip" Hawkes - saw Chip Hawkes him perform this in Swindon last night! Unfortunately Alan is no longer with us. Passed away abot 12 years ago.
