my 7/8 grade select chorus sang this, and may i say, it was spine tingling because it was sung in a very acoustic dead room. there should be guys singing though. it sound better with girls and guys mixed.
the women sound very very good. a sweetness that resonates a tender glow. for the songs sake i agree with the mens choir bit. it only makes more sense for men to sing this due to the history of men going out to war and leaving their wives and children behind and telling them to weep no more. all in all its very good, great sound great unison kudos
hahaha. Because woman would have nothing to cry over because of that. They just enjoy being left and having the love of thier lives run off to possibly die. This song is gorgeous - no matter what voices are used.

this is good, but i think this piece is meant for a bigger sound. The mens choir i am in does it and it has more of dynamic sound to it which i believe is better.
i find hilarious how you commented this on every choirs version on youtube, thats just mildly pathetic, and i actually wouldnt like a mens choir i think it need a sweetness
my treble chior is singing this in atl in a week and half and understand it is not as easy as it sounds phrasing and dictions are so difficult... omg but it is so beautiful
The recording itself is a bit scratchey, but it doesn't stop the true beauty of the voices from coming through. My women's choir did it last year too, I love this song.
Liladi0408, I totally agree w/ u!!! I did this song in my Senior year of HS also..its my favorite! People should NEVER say such things unless they have proff and if ne 1 else likes it. I think we did a great job, but this group is a lot stronger and pronunciates a lot better than my group did lol.we also had a small group. i actually liked it better that way
ok so there could have been a little less soprano sound and the cascading "weep no more"s could have been more timed out but other than that it sounds pretty decent. My Chorus also sang this last year and i've always really liked it. those who said that their choruses were "so much better" were really rude... i don't see a recording of their version on here. so where's the proof?
I was in chamber singers at my school and the girls did this song way better, we didnt have a conductor and no music, but everyone's not like us so I guess you guys pulled it off
I saw you guys perform this at a festival, and we were so truly inspired by this song, that we couldn't help but attempt to sing it ourselves. Your voices are beautiful enough to inspire many. Good job!
A women's quartet at my school is singing this! I just heard them at my school in my class and they cound amzing! :D

A little less on the top, and more contrast maybe? Still lovely, though.

It could use some work, and not just on pronounciation. Vibrato needs to be controlled through out the choir and the choir unity is missing.
foofoogurly 3 years ago
idk if its just the video, but the pronunciation sounds kindof funky...

God, fucking horrible pronunciations.

You are entitled to crtitize...
But I would recomend being a little more articulate and more mature in your word choice, because using cursewords just makes you look like an idiot.
Broadwaybound2121 3 years ago
:] And you would be most deffinatley right.
So, to whom posted the video, I do apologize for my profanity, but oh, the pronunciations.
zombiecxnt 3 years ago
I understand your frustration with the pronunciations,DICTION is KEY. Choir Nerds UNITE!

"shed", and the "a" in another are way too spread vowels. otherwise, it was fabulous! this song always makes me cry. my singing group did it, too.
