  • Fus RO Dah!

  • so all you do is cover it in linseed oil and burn it? I heard if you add a little charcoal powder it makes it darker.

  • @SHANDYBOY86 put it in borax cleaner while its hot and it puts a red coating on it

  • im gonna hava a go at making this with paper mache XD this is badass :D

  • do you build chastity belts as well

  • its currently 00:30 am here, im doing history homework (about ww1)

watching youtube videos in the backround...

i actually dropped my pen and watched the whole video

i think ill drop the chainmaill project and going to get some metal :)

  • Where's the horns ?

  • @TheTexaradoan false horns are only found on ceremonial helmets

  • all that can be formed without heating...

  • man thats awsome

  • what is the name of that metal ball you use to curve the metal, and where can you find something like that?

  • I put a paint bucket on my head once when I was a kid. It got stuck and they had to cut it off.

  • do you sell your creations ?

  • Good work!

  • nice work, looks good. Ive gotten a similar dark gray finish by heating a piece in the oven and spraying it with wd40 while hot.

Clecos work much better than bolts tho, you can get them the same size as your rivits and it holds tighter.

(Clecos are like a spring loaded re-usable, temperary rivit that are placed with a plier like tool and are used in airplane fabrication,. In case anyone asks)

  • Is the torch used to weld the steel together or for the oil melting to make the color? or both? Can you just rivet them together? BTW great video!

  • 1:00 hello, whether these triangular pieces to the pan as helms rounding off the edges were heated or cold?

  • LIKE IT! WELL DONE!

  • why not just TIG weld it ?

  • Hello, im from argentina and i started to make armour and weapon medieval 2 years ago. i tried to make this helmet but it couldn´t do it. Could you please give me a original pattern of de helmet?

    Tanks.

  • @super666alberto

hola. lei que realizas armaduras y armas medievales. tenes alguna pagina donde pueda ver tus trabajos?

    realizas pedidos?

    gracias.

  • how much did all those materials cost???

  • i do viking reenactment and want to have a go at making my own helmet

    Any tips?

where can i get hold of one of the big ball stakes and what type of blow torch where you using?

    Rob

  • @SprAftanas The material is cheap so just go for it. try and make some kind of a padded head band (not too thick) that you can wrap around your head to get measures right. A bunch of small nuts and bolts are a good idea.

The Ball stake is nice, but not entirely necessary. The one in the clip looks like a cannonball welded to a stake, but you can make do with a cheap trailer hitch. If you don't have a ball stake, just make sure you dish the bands before attaching them.

  • @jubaharder, Thanks for pstiong this! I am making an Anglo-Saxon helmet for history class and this helps out alot.

  • Would this be functional in say, SCA combat? I don;'t know if your familiar with it. Part of it is forging / crafting your own armor. I'm only 17 and have little experience as I'm just starting out.

what kind of heat sources would be good enough to get the metals to the point that you can shape them as desired. I'm guessing a regular blowtorch wouldn't work or would it?

Anyways nice helmet, the chainmail at the end made it look great. You must have a lot of experience in this for sure.

  • I'm planning to do one myself. But I have only a propane burner which won't give me the heat needed so i will make it from thinner metal. I hope it will work.

  • 2:35 looks like the cap you wld wear on an electric chair lol

  • Proper "spangen" construction. Very nice ^^

Nice looking spectacle as well =)

  • hello! very nice! I like it, please send me drawings with all details! I want to make my own armor!

    Thanks!

  • dude that is amazing

  • i use normal iron for the helmet and the rings are also simple iron thread the copper like colour comes from burning linseedoil to protect the iron against wether i didt the same to the helmet but i burn it like 10 times so it got almost totaly black the mail at the back only got burnd 3 times so the colour is more copper like .

  • nicely done, what kind of steel did you use? and are the rings copper?
